Ok, this isn't your run of the mill Tilted Entertainment thread....just to warn you.

I was just watching the Godfather on SpikeTV, and every opportunity they get they brag how they are showing the entire movie, uncut, etc... Sure enough we see the horse's bloody head in the Hollywoord dude's bed, another dude getting his hand stabbed and then being strangled, Vito being shot a dozen times in the back, Micheal shooting the mobster in the head and the police chief in the neck and head, Sonny being killed etc... Then behold as Micheal's new wife's boobs get blurred out! WTF!!? I realize that they are under regulations by the FCC, so perhaps this belongs in politics, but I mean can anyone explain this to me? How is it ok to show all the violence you can imagine, but not a 2 second shot of a beautiful woman's rack? Anyone, please?

We're basically hypocrites with Puritannical and violent tendencies. *shrugs*

Violence = Bad, but acceptable
Sex = Unaccecptable

I'm slightly disturbed by this.

yes, its highly hypocritical... but if I want to see boobies, I can do without seeing them for the 10 seconds they are in the godfather and watch porn

I remember the first time they showed it, a couple years back. I was in my dorm watching it, and you could tell all the other guys had it on in their rooms because when that scene came on and she was blurred out, you could hear screams of horror and pain from EVERY ROOM.

Jesus christ guys, just watch the DVD.

It's not as titillating as trying to see it on the networks' dime. ;)

That shit is fucked up man. The other day SBS (not mainstream but govt funded) showed A Clockwork Orange, and they didn't cut it once man, I was pretty goddamn surprised.

I'm glad that cencorship is never used by the Danish network companies. The kids are gonna see tits/violence/car accidents etc in real life at some point so cencorship isn't the answer. The parent should sit down with their kids instead and prepare them for what that and explain them what's fiction and what's not. What's right and what's not.

I agree that this hypocrisy is ridiculous. Unfortunately, this is a result of our puritan roots upheld by our religious right. Personally, I do not mind my child being exposed to nudity but violence is a different story. And by nudity I mean nude men or women but not hardcore sex acts. That I do keep my child from watching.

It's also okay for Lil John to say "Skeet skeet skeet" on the radio, but Eminem can't say "bitch" (censored in his Superman song). WTF?

Like everyone else said... it's just a big ball of hypocrisy. Kinda like how marijuana is illegal and will get you years of jail time, but cigs/alcohol are okay.

I never did understand why society shuns itself from sex.. what's the big deal? It's as natrual as breathing.

Another thing (and this will sound odd), but why are people so adamant against a child seeing nudity? Seriously.. as if the child will grow up with complicated social issues or something. I saw plenty of nudity as a child (in R movies) along with "accidentally" finding the hidden porn stash.. I grew up perfectly normal. I can see keeping cigs/alcohol/violence away from kids.. but sex/nudity? By the time they're 13, they'll know about it all anyway from the kids at school (and believe me, they WILL know about it either way).

Off topic, but they didn't show the entire movie. They cut off the edges...Pan and scan... Ugh!

I ask this in all honesty, Diane Keaton shows her tits in this movie? I have seen the Godfather many many times and never really thought about any nudity. I suppose it's because I never affiliate the movie with any nudity at all.
