CSI Miami - 08/11/04

So who watched the 'special episode' of CSI Miami yesterday?

Ok, I know that a lot of what they do is a stretch, but did yesterdays episode seemed to annoy me more than anything.

Two main points stick out. Firstly, finding out where a pane of glass is from in about 30 seconds via the 'MagicDatabaseOfEverythingThatExists' and secondly, they have 2 minutes till a building about 1/2 mile away, across a river, is to explode, and he still has time to drive in, search, conveniently find, save, and escape in that time.

Hell, he was still in the car with 5 seconds till explosion and hadnt found the guy yet.

I know in a lot of these shows you have to let your pre-conceptions go, and just accept the fantasy, but its stuff like this that make my wife and eye roll our eyes.

That drove me nuts too. I've seen demolition work done (mostly on tv), but everything I have ever seen is that in an explosion/implosion of this size, the police are always involved just to protect the citizens and to prevent any issues. Why couldn't they just contact them? Suspending reality is one thing - I'll give them the two minute thing under that guise, not the five seconds - but don't treat your audience like five year olds.

I watched it, and I was definately rolling my eyes at the 5 second rescue part. Not sure what made them go that far with it, but the Miami one to me has always seemed less like a crime investigation show and more like a hollywood action movie then the original.

Damn title date got me confused, Daval.

Anyway, yeah, the whole rescue-and-get-out-before-it-explodes scenario was very stupid, at least the way they filmed it.
I think someone pointed out in an earlier thread that all Caruso does is stand around and strike poses.
I'm beginning to agree.
Maybe it's the director's way of getting him more involved.

I thought it was pretty far fetched also, especially the 5 second deal, not to mention that Hummer outrunning the explosion. Hell, it would probably run outta gas before it got clear of the building anyway. Very Walker, Texas Rangerish.

But to be honest, Caruso is so badass, that if they had him fly around the Earth at superspeed to reverse time, then swoop down and save the guy while holding the building together with his mind, I would probably still be back for more next week

but I sure do miss Speedle

I never got into CSI: Miami, it always seems to me that Caruso's character (Horatio??) knows absolutely everything ever and could solve every case without the rest of the team. CSI on the other hand, is brilliant.

Crazy

I like CSI: Miami but that omnipotent supercomputer takes it down a notch for me too. It's a quick fix for when the writers are in a difficult situation. And now there's three CSI's? Just like a network to find something that works then do too much of it burning everyone out and ruining it.

Original CSI (Vegas) is still the best of among the spin-offs. I'd put 1. Vegas 2. NY 3. Miami

Horatio. Isn't that the number of prostitutes compared with the number of "johns"?

Another thing that kills me about CSI:M is that their lab and offices look like something off of the Enterprise. The only one that has a lab that actually looks like a lab is CSI:NY.

CSI LV is best. Good science (most of the time) and good cast dynamics. Plus, George Eads is a nice piece of eye candy.
