Who were your favorite childhood television heroes?

Do you have a favorite tv hero you used to emulate or look up to as a kid?

I had three. Captain Kirk, The Six-Million Dollar man, and MacGyver.
The top one would have to have been Kirk, just because he was around first and influenced my younger self.
The one that I liked the most was MacGyver, though.
Unfortunately, (or more likely fortunately) I didn't have the skills to turn toothpaste and chopsticks into a bomb. ;)

Who were your favorite tv heroes?

maleficent 05-26-2004 06:49 PM

The Bionic Woman, but I was gonna marry the Six Million Dollar Man.

Wonder Woman, the invisible plane and the golden lasso were way cool.

Pellaz 05-26-2004 08:06 PM

Optimus Prime. Like a PG Jesse Custer.

warrrreagl 05-26-2004 08:08 PM

The Monkees.

In elementary school, I invented a game based on The Monkees TV show, and as far as I can remember, it consisted of me playing the part of Davey Jones and all the girls on the playground had to chase me all over the place.

Other than that, it was Perry Mason.

Ace_O_Spades 05-26-2004 08:10 PM

Mine was actually a sports figure, Wayne Gretzky... i watched him play when i was really really young, and it was amazing

guinnessgurl 05-26-2004 10:14 PM

Haha, I don't know if anyone else remembers this show, but I was absolutely in love with Brisco County Jr. Hurrah for cowboys!!

Oh yeah, Mr. Badass himself, Bruce Campbell. :)
"Hail to the King, baby."

They took it off the air too soon, imo.

OPTIMUS PRIME

(maybe she was a prelude to liking Buffy so much :D)

And not so much with the super hero-ness, but I so wanted to be Punky Brewster.

bundy 05-27-2004 04:31 AM

i have to say Optimus Prime was a big influence back then.
i also had a MAJOR kiddie crush on Snow White.

Rubyee 05-27-2004 04:44 AM

I know it sounds crazy, but I wanted to be just like Clarissa Darling.

I would have looked up to April O'Neil from TMNT, but I was way too overjealous of her, so I hated her.

I also had a huge crush on Mickey Dolenz, so I wanted to be the girl on the Monkees; I think her name was June, or May- I know it was a month, though!

When I was REAL young, though, I wanted to be Jem.

Polyphobic 05-27-2004 04:52 AM

Spock. Believe it or not.

BRISCO ROCKED!!!

And not just because of Bruce... the show was awesome... I always watched it.

Maybe because I knew how much ass Bruce kicked on a regular basis...

JohnnyRock 05-27-2004 09:18 AM

Always has been Spider-Man. Also had to be the guys from S.W.A.T. or Starsky on Starsky and Hutch...I always liked the wise-ass and reluctant hero types...

stldickie 05-27-2004 01:30 PM

I'll have to admit a nostalgia for Macgyver...and Hogan from Hogan's Heroes...and we can't forget Alf

Airwolf!
Stringfellow Hawke was a cool guy, too.

pan6467 05-27-2004 01:48 PM

The original James West from Wild Wild West played by the great actor Robert Conrad. Didn't matter who you were if James West was pissed at you, you were a dead man walking.

Bret Maverick aka James Garner played and won at cards, always got the girl and hated the violence but when pushed he would take a man out.

Archie Bunker So wrong yet so loveable because in the end no matter what he said he always did the right thing

JR Ewing from Dallas..... to have that much money, power, be so dispicable yet fuck any hot chick that I want......... fuck anyone else on tv.... he had it ALL.

cherriesue 05-27-2004 03:10 PM

the entire cast of the A-Team

Doctor Who is easily my most influential childhood hero. I was fascinated by how he was able to do heroic things like save the world (or even the universe!) without so much as even touching a gun. Throughout the entire series, he had never carried a weapon and, instead, worked his way out of situations by being clever and outwitting everybody...

Here are some images of his fourth incarnation, the most popular one...

Don't forget about Remington Steele! He was cool!

marz 05-28-2004 11:27 AM

MacGyver for sure, I never missed a episode the first three seasons.

viper11885 05-28-2004 11:43 AM

I ihave way too many to name. But one of my favorites was from a tv show called Viper. It was filmed here locally in Vancouver and I actually saw both the Viper and Defender driving down the road one time.

Unfortunately, I cannot get a hold of any episodes because it was never released on VHS or DVD.

Absolutely! One of my formative influences as well. Spock rocks, even though it would be illogical.

Which chick? There was Mrs. Cathy Gale, Mrs. Emma Peel, and Mrs. Tara King. They were all foxy chicks but I think Tara King was generally considered the hottest among them. Personally, I preffered Cathy Gale. She was played by Honor Blackman, the same woman who played Pussy Galore in the James Bond movie: Goldfinger...

doomdoom 06-02-2004 11:55 PM

Ninja Turtles, Balki, and Rod Serling
