an Eyes Wide Shut uncut release?

from TheDigitalBits.com:

Quote:
First up... some interesting Kubrick information. It seems that Warner Bros. might have changed their minds about releasing the director's last film, Eyes Wide Shut, in its original uncut version. Bits reader Josh L. e-mailed us last night with the following:

Tonight I was fortunate enough to see Leon Vitali in person at a special screening of Barry Lyndon at the University of Colorado. In his discussion, Mr. Vitali revealed that Warner Bros. is planning to release the uncensored international version of Eyes Wide Shut here in the States, sometime next year. Not sure if this was already officially announced or not.
I hope this is true. I wasn't a big fan of Eyes Wide Shut, but I would be really interested in seeing the way Kubrick originally cut it.

yes that was a great movie. an uncut version would be an excellent homage to Kubrick.

Any movie with Nicole Kidman naked is a good movie.

Just as they were about to enjoy their creamy beverage, three flies landed in each of their pints. The Englishman pushed his beer away in disgust. The Scotsman fished the fly out of his beer and continued drinking it, as if nothing had happened. The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!"

The characters in this films seemed not to have any souls, I can't explain what I mean exactly but it was very scary atmosphere... Loved the film plus seeing Leelee Sobieski in lingerie rocked.

Eyes Wide Shut is one of my favorite films, keep in mind this is coming from someone whose other favorites are Fight Club and Spaceballs.

The film is just so deep and symbolic. I think the theme that I like best is that both the husband and the wife are tempted in different ways to cheat on their spouse and child. And though neither one of them actually commits adultery, their thoughts alone are hurtful enough to each other that both the husband and the wife feel cheated on. It just goes to show that even though a man and woman may have a nice house, a child, and a stable relationship, there will always be temptations and sometimes not acting upon them is just as bad giving in to them.

That being said, I don't think that an uncut version would add much to the story. It would most likely just be more nudity in the orgy scene with those CGI'ed floating watchers removed.

I could be wrong, but I seem to recall watching an unscensored version of the orgy scene over on ifilm about a year or so ago. It was good, but didn't seem to add too much.

Well damn, I liked Eyes Wide Shut! It was really weird, but a good movie if ya ask me. I don't see how an uncut version could add a whole lot to the movie though; it seemed pretty damned uncut the first time I saw it.

I was going to say, can you uncut what was already uncut?

Maybe now we'll get some widescreen versions of the Kubrick films too. Yeah I know he filmed his later works(from The Shining on) in full screen but he had to have matted them for widesreen for theater presentation or at least he did for Full Metal Jacket. Those films are going to cause problems when everybody upgrades to hdtv sets.I'm not opposed either to full screen also being included in this case just want to have the option.

You might enjoy some of Hawthornes short stories, like Young Goodman Brown.
