I'd like to know where you get your dvds (online and in stores) because i cant find the dvds i'm looking for in the stores here...

Costco for the most part.

moonstrucksoul 02-16-2004 04:01 PM

I'd say that Best Buy has the best selection with the lowest prices.

MexicanOnABike 02-16-2004 05:32 PM

Ottawa has 2 Best Buys :D
Here are the Best Buys in Canada - you're out of luck if you not in Ontario, Winnipeg, or Edmonton. BB and Future Shop are basically the same imo. But you can't buy online at Best Buy (within Canada).

Try Amazon.com

MexicanOnABike 02-17-2004 04:32 PM

thanks for that! i live in sudbury... we have a futureshop but the selection is a little limited... now i only need to get a credit card and i'll buy my dvds on amazon.

Half.com is my first stop, then Best Buy

DVD Planet is a great site with good prices. DVD Empire is another great site.

I allways check out DVD PriceSearch.com it gives you a pretty good selection of stores to choose from and has cheap prices.

BuddyHawks 02-17-2004 07:17 PM

ebay has everything for cheep

Best Buy satisfies my needs. They tend to have good deals, too - a few months ago I picked up a two pack of Requiem For A Dream and Pi for like...18 bucks.

Best Buy and Future Shop are the same company, so they carry the same releases. I find them both very lacking with some of the more independent films, but if you're looking for mainstream major studio releases only, they are the ones to go to.

Personally, I'd suggest www.amazon.ca. If they don't have it in stock, they usually get it pretty quick or one of their marketplace sellers has it. www.chapters.ca is pretty good too, but their pricing is usually a little higher.

For my Hong Kong/Asian cinema fix I like www.pokerindustries.com. I've always had good service from them, and they have a great selection if you like that type of film.

I agree. However, sometimes you have to add a DVD to your cart to see whether or not they actually have it in stock. Their ready-to-ship selections are not as large as I had hoped, but their estimated dates of arrival are usually pretty accurate.
