Survivor All-Stars

Only one more day til Survivor starts again. Who's gonna watch? Who's your favorite? I hope Rupert does better this time. It's going to be interesting to see the strategies used, especially since they have all seen each other in the other episodes (assuming they watched them).

sexymama 01-31-2004 01:52 PM

I'm watching and I hope Rupert goes all the way! That man is my hero!

Monre 01-31-2004 04:59 PM

I hope Rupert but he might just be voted out first.

They better have the biggest surprises for this one..if not....grrr.

Averett 01-31-2004 05:29 PM

I can't wait for this! It should be awesome.

Hrothgar 01-31-2004 05:38 PM

Nope. No desire whatsoever. Wouldn't even have known of its existence till I spotted this thread.

Fremen 01-31-2004 07:18 PM

I'll watch.
I'll finally get to see the first two seasons' contestants in action, too.
(Well, besides that cross-country Cannonball race on USA, that is.)

/another Rupert fan

Derwood 01-31-2004 07:24 PM

I can't wait. I saw an interview with Jeff Probst where he said that they definitely saved the biggest and best game twists for this season.

~springrain 01-31-2004 07:25 PM

omg... i am in heaven... i was afraid there weren't other survivor lovers out here... *big smiles* :D
i am not sure if i have a favorite yet... but am SO looking forward to sitting back and enjoying the ride!
outwit, outplay, outlast... yeah!

bookerV 01-31-2004 09:12 PM

i cant wait to see Rudy & big Tom. those two guys were hilarious. it should be a great survivor...

i'm very curious to see who will go first...

Vespertine 01-31-2004 10:42 PM

Haven't watched Survivor yet and don't plan on it...

I seriously miss out on what the appeal is. :(

Tempboy 02-01-2004 01:46 AM

Arrghh.. I wish I could watch it.. I'm out of the country till the end of the year.

Oh well.
I hope Rudy wins.

lucidity 02-01-2004 05:03 AM

I can't wait! This will be so good. Looking forward to seeing what twists they will throw into this game.

Derwood 02-01-2004 08:31 AM

They have a "Fantasy League" on the Official Survivor home page. Should I create a TFP team so we can all play?

quest1mark 02-01-2004 11:38 AM

im somewhat suprised that in the all star show that sneaky little "johnny fairplay" didnt make it back to the show. im pretty sure with him on the island, it wouldve made it a little more interesting...

but i absolutely cant wait till the show tonight! i think my sleeper pick is rob c. from the amazon show. hes always doing something to try and win the game.

Unga 02-01-2004 04:38 PM

I stopped watching it halfway through the second Survivor. Maybe this one will get me started back on the show :). I've always thought it'd be cool being on survivor though. With extreme optimism, it's a great way to lose weight! What's around to get you off track? :P

bundy 02-01-2004 04:52 PM

i can't wait either.

but, we'll only be watching about 1 month behind.

guess i'm going to have to wait to get the updates here.

ShaniFaye 02-01-2004 05:01 PM

GO RUPERT!!!

or

GO COLBY!!!

or

GO ETHAN!!!

damn I cant make up mind

frankgrimes 02-01-2004 07:21 PM

always wanted them to do an all stars survivor- should be fun to watch, since we've seen them all before. would have liked to have seen elizabeth and coleen, though i understand they passed. a few others (rodger, pascal, neleh, michael, greg, gretchen, well a lot of others i guess) would be interesting to see. My moneys on people like lex, rob c, tom and kathy, people who know how to play the game, have been close before, just need things to go their way to finish.

ShaniFaye 02-01-2004 07:24 PM

I really wish paschal had come back...he was SO robbed in his original one

Fremen 02-01-2004 09:58 PM

Damn, Richard cracks me up! "I could light that fire in a second.""But why should I?" He'll be gone soon.

Tina's the first off. Ethan's running scared.

*wheeeeeee*

;)

Derwood 02-01-2004 10:08 PM

Rupert has already made a critical error in judgement. He sided with the snakes, and he will eventually get bitten.

Sensei 02-01-2004 10:44 PM

Let's be honest: Tina won because she rode the coattails of Colby. Is she the only constestant to ever do this? Of course not. Doesn't make it less true though. However, I agree that this was an error in judgement. Everyone let their emotions rather than rationality guide their decision making by siding with the insecure Jenna L.

P.S. Amber is hot!

I already have an entry. If you create a TFP tribe, make a post to let us know.

Although I don't want Tina to win and am glad she was voted out; I agree Rupert may have hung himself. Poor Ethan must be running scared.

I hope it gets more exciting. So far the best part about watching the show is cuddle time with my girls.

quest1mark 02-02-2004 07:40 AM

i cant believe that they tribes arent even getting fire after the tribal council meeting! none of the tribes were successful in their attempts to make fire...i dont even think richard could do it.

its going to be an interesting season.

dy156 02-02-2004 01:58 PM

I loved it. The worst part about survivor was figuring out who was who in the beginning, and that's not a problem this time, because I recognize about 2/3 of the people from the beginning.
I want Colby to get a "Do over", and bet that Richard Hatch won't do so well when faced with competitors that understand the game.

Has anyone read the spoilers on the internet? I looked at a couple, and hope they aren't right. Most correctly picked Tina as the 1st booty, but some others talked about Richard's supposed "Fire in the Hole" incident that didn't happen.

I'm way too excited about this.

illesturban 02-02-2004 08:57 PM

Man I think it was actually a bad idea for Rupert to side with the backstabbers. I like that Ethan and Tina are testaments to the fact that good honest people CAN win, and Rupert should've known that they are good with their word. I think that Jenna chick shoulda been OUT. I'm mad at that... *smh*

almostaugust 02-04-2004 07:09 PM

I wish Rob from three series back was in it. You know the big loud guy who threw clay into the watter by his throat, then called him a hillbilly.

bobson 02-04-2004 07:26 PM

i watched the first series and loved it, then watched most of the 2nd and thought it was ok...havent seen anything since.
when all stars starts here (not for at least a month or two), ill probably watch it to see if its any good.

Kaos 02-04-2004 08:34 PM

I want Lex to win this one. He got robbed in Africa. The last 2 (Ethan and I can't remember who the other person was) even said in the after show celebration that if it came between Lex and one of them, Lex was a shoe-in.

Go LEX!!!

Also, I'm surprised that they didn't get that one guy who passed out in the fire back for a second chance. He defintely had a chance to win until that happened.

clifclav 02-05-2004 06:01 AM

I think CBS wants its Mojo back with the old people so I feel like an older contestant will win. Almost certain it will not be one of the young bunch. I would not be surprised at all to see Richard win again.

johnnymysto 02-05-2004 06:23 AM

Boston Rob is awesome. He probably won't win because he's too loud-mouthed. But I love to hear him cracking on the other players.

I second the "Amber is hot" motion. She's the cutie of this season. I hope Jerry sticks by her keep-my-mouth-shut strategy, cuz that's just what I'd like her to do. She thinks everyone is drooling over her.

ShaniFaye 02-05-2004 07:44 AM

I would love to see it come down to Rudy or Rupert

kulrblind 02-05-2004 11:31 AM

I want to know how Richard could conceivably think of himself as "the ultimate survivor", just because he won the first ever contest. In reality, he really could have won the easiest Survivor, since the rest of the contestants wouldn't have clue 1 about strategy yet. He'd better buckle up; the rest of the contestants this time around will have his bacon soon enough, fire or no fire.

Spoiler: 1 winner down, three to go. which will be next?
/rant, editedbecauseihitsubmitreplytoogoddamnearly

yournamehere 02-05-2004 02:55 PM

Okay people - think about it.

Everyone knows the show is taped, and already is over, right?
And corporations don't want losers as their spokesperson, right?
And Colby's been shilling razors for a couple of months now, right?

Survivor isn't as secretive as they'd have you believe - there was a news article about two weeks into the 1st season about Richard Hatch going to court as an abusive parent for starving his overweight son, and the article mentioned he had just won a $million on a TV show.

lucidity 02-05-2004 04:49 PM

I know he won't win but, I just love Ruppert. :) Rudy is pretty awesome for being in his 70s, gotta respect that.

Jeff Probst was on a local radio show this week. When asked why Johnny Fairplay didn't make it to Allstars, he commented that Fairplay's persona hadn't popped by the time they cast Allstars. He said his personality ended up being hated toward the end of the show airing and by then, Allstarts had already begun taping. Total crap IMHO, as they had edited the show by then and knew darn well that he would end up as a 'love to hate' player.

The next day, 'Fairplay' was on the same radio station. He said that Probst's story was fabricated and they had approached him to be on Allstars. He said no, of course. How could he top what he did in the Pearl Islands?

Ethan was a moron for not trying to get rupert and rudy to side with him again. You know jenna is gonna stab him at her earliest possible convenience

crfpilot 02-05-2004 08:59 PM

I hate to say it, but I would've voted for Rudy too, just because his foot was bothering him and he couldn't run, that would make the team weak. Now if they had extra people, then it would be a different story.

happyraul 02-06-2004 08:54 AM

Thing is, if Ethan had done as I suggested, and formed an alliance with Rupert and Rudy to vote one of the chicks off, then they could have maintained that alliance if they were to go to tribal council again. The next immunity challenge could very well be something non-physical. Besides, nobody can even say that Rudy cost them the immunity challenge, and they won the reward challenge.

Basically I think Ethan made a bad decision in terms of the best thing he could do to ensure his survival, which is to vote off Jenna. He probably was peeved about all the stuff that wasn't going his way (Tina being voted off, fucking up the challenge, not being able to catch fish)

Kaos 02-06-2004 05:14 PM

Was it just me, or did Rudy just threaten his teammates for booting him off in his final words? He said something to the effect that he has lots of friends...

jasonresno 02-06-2004 05:31 PM

Well yeah, Rudy needed to go. He weakened the team imensley, even if he was such an amazing guy. I really like the Boston Rob guy, I also like Lex ..if either one of those guys won I wouldn't be mad. Also Johnny Fairplay was my favorite player..of all time. I wish he made All Stars.

~springrain 02-06-2004 05:43 PM

Koas... i noticed that too... i felt bad for Rudy... Jeff Probst was right... he's 75... and was kicking it a bunch of people less than HALF his age...
if Rupert had been smart... he and Rudy should have gone to Ethan and tried to sway Ethan to vote off one of the girls...

Spoiler: Jenna leaves next... and then Rob C.
that is what my "sources" tell me... ;)

Possible Spoilers above. Daval

sexymama 02-06-2004 05:46 PM

I hope Jenna leaves next -- I can't stand her! I like Ethan and wish he would stop being unnerved and get with the program. He and Rupert forming an alliance would be very smart. Their only hope, though, is to win the next immunity challenge.

n0b 02-07-2004 09:44 PM

I'll bet that big Tom makes it pretty far. He just seems like he's doing a good job of staying under the radar.

TheClarkster 02-07-2004 10:08 PM

My money's on Lex just because he seems so damn cool.
The only other season I've seen was last season with Johnny Fairplay and Rupert. Hopefully this season will keep me just as entertained.

How did Rudy weaken his team? I don't see that at all. They won the reward challenge. If they won that, then how is Rudy a liability? They lost the immunity challenge, yes, but it was most certainly not because of Rudy. Am I missing something here?

He did say that. He also said something like "They better not hope to ever meet me on the street..." Funny thing is, I checked the Survivor web site and none of his threats are included with his final words.

On an different subject, did anyone else think that the last immunity challenge was all screwed up? None of the tribes followed the rules.
1) Empty the boxes from the boat.
2) Bail the water out of the boat.
3) Get in the boat and paddle back to shore.

Two tribes dumped the boxes out of the boat. Two tribes used the floating platform to empty the water out of the boat. Two tribes did not paddle back to shore in the boat.

lucidity 02-12-2004 07:06 PM

Wow, I never expected tonights episode to be so emotional or even poignant. Good for Jenna- being true to her gut instinct and admitting her error before it became a regret.

happyraul 02-12-2004 07:33 PM

It was a good episode, by all accounts. There were some amusing moments, especially Richard with the shark. I felt sorry for Rupert and his team when they were falling apart. And of course there was Jenna.... Still, I have to ask what the hell she was doing there in the first place. To be honest I don't buy it, its just too convenient, her mom's condition must have degraded and they told her. It sure as hell was not a vibe she got in the middle of the night.

EDIT: mistakes

crfpilot 02-12-2004 08:59 PM

Man, I don't even know what to think about tonights episode. I'm kinda dissapointed, I like watching the challenges and they didn't run the immunity challenge. They should have run the challenge anyway and turned it into a reward challenge or something. It's sad anyway that Jenna's mom passed away, rest in piece.

I also would have like to see how Ruperts shelter held up, and how dry they stayed in that storm, since the other tribe was miserable.

I'm sure a crew member leaked something to her and told her she should probably go home.

Derwood 02-13-2004 06:09 AM

Good episode? Yes.

I'm afraid to ever look at this thread again for fear that more episodes will be ruined for me.

~springrain.....I hope you enjoy ruining people's fun, because that's just what you did.

Post edited by Daval - there is no need for profanity and flaming.

sexymama 02-13-2004 06:58 AM

First off, although I don't like having things spoiled for me either, I don't believe there is a reason to be rude. I'm sure springrain has figured out that she shouldn't give away information in the future.

Second, as much as I don't like Jenna, she truly touched my heart last night. I found myself crying at the end of the show. I am not going to second guess if she had resource or not. I believe very strongly that when you love someone deeply that you have an emotional connection -- even across miles.

Third, I do not like Rupert nearly as much this season as I did in the past. He is way too bossy. Too bad about the shelter -- but he should have listened.

I'm not sure who I want to win right now although I agree that I really like Lex.

Daval 02-13-2004 07:42 AM

OK folks. This is a thread about a TV show. In any threads about possible shows there is always the risk of spoilers.

What we can do is all make an effort to use the new spoiler flags that Hal graciously installed several months ago. You can see other threads on the use.

But, what Springrain did I don't see as a spoiler, i see that as more speculation and rumour. She just happened to be right.

Derwood 02-13-2004 10:11 AM

Well I apologize for the way I vented, but I'm still mad.

Plan9Senior 02-13-2004 01:01 PM

That sounds possible but I think it odd that a crew member would be keeping track of her mother. Did a family member tell someone on the crew of the show? Didn't Jenna say that she was all her mother had? So how would a crew member know in the first place?

lucidity 02-14-2004 06:31 PM

Call me naieve, but I don't think anyone told her. I think she knew when she left it was the wrong decision.

Also, isn't it a given in a thread about Survivor that we would uhm, discuss... Survivor? Spoilers happen. If you haven't seen the show for the week and don't want to risk a spoil, hold off on reading the thread.

Averett 02-20-2004 08:45 AM

Anyone watch last nights episode? Everyone getting slammed by those huge puzzle pieces was classic.

So, what's going to be the SHOCKING TWIST? They'll probably shake up the tribes.

happyraul 02-20-2004 09:33 AM

Oh the immunity challenge was so hilarious....I actually had a feeling the ROB team would lose the challenge, because they are the only tribe that hasnt lost anyone, and lets just say the brains are on the other tribes. I have no idea about the shocking twist but I'm anxious to find out. I can't imagine a tribe shakeup, cause thats not really shocking.

Sensei 02-20-2004 11:00 AM

Maybe Amber will leave Rob Mariano to have a tryst with Sue Hawk. That would be pretty shocking in my opinion.

Naieve. heh, just kidding. But it seems that there are rumors that a CBS employee was fired recently over the event. This is from an article at the Chicago Sun:

The alt.tv.survivor newsgroup has been humming with rumors that someone who works on the show was fired after providing Jenna with information about her mother's condition. This disgruntled employee is supposedly the author of a list that purports to give the exact order of elimination, all the way to the finals. So far the list is three for three -- including the reason Jenna would leave the game.

Still just rumors though. Here's the link: http://www.suntimes.com/output/roepe...ws-roep19.html

No one is mad about spoilers of episodes that have aired. We're mad that someone posted (correctly I'll add) that Jenna and Rob C. were the next 2 to leave back before either of those episodes aired. That's uncalled for, and ruins the show.

Plan9Senior 02-20-2004 03:20 PM

Nods, well at least the rest show will be fun for me. The last 2 episodes were blown :|

it's lookin pretty good so far, and now that it's all a surprise again im looking forward to see how things turn out, maybe Rob and Amber will hook up. In there emergency pack there is a condom, maybe its calling there name.

HATCH IS GONE!!!!!!:)

Woot Woohoo
Richard Hatch got booted (voted) out of survivor
This is great news,
The fucker always annoyed me :)

Church 02-26-2004 06:17 PM

Yeah, good riddance. He was a stuck up prick. He wasn't the same Rich anymore, he was "Oh, I'm Richard and I'm going to be naked just because I know its controversial!"

happyraul 02-26-2004 06:19 PM

Initially I thought Ethan would be voted out, and I didn't want that cause Ethan is a cool guy. I met him when I went on a road trip in Denver last summer, he was really nice, so I hope he goes all the way. Still, I would rather they vote someone useless like Jerri or Kathy instead of Hatch, cause Hatch was so very entertaining. Oh well, other than that I was cracking up at the immunity challenge at those hard hits.

theres already a survivor thread

Kaos 02-26-2004 06:37 PM

This thread was probably not a good idea if there are people who taped the show and are planning to watch it later or are in a different time zone. People are gonna be pissed you just revealed who got the boot (They freaked out on ~Springrain for posting who was getting booted from just a rumor). Maybe a PM to a mod to delete this thread would be a good idea.

Just trying to save ya some grief...but I can understand why you would be so excited to make the announcement. I wanted him voted off too :)

Ding Dong the Rich is dead!

philosopherking 02-26-2004 07:06 PM

Yeah, it would've been nice for Richard to stick around just so that he could mess with everyone, especially after the merger. It was great to see him totally outplayed though, give him a taste of his own medicine.

Ditto what he said.

Wish I hadn't logged on to read that right before I the show started.

Way to go.

It wouldn't be so bad if it was within a thread, that way if you haven't seen the show you can stay out of the thread till you have. But having it in CAPS as a new thread? Kinda hard to miss it.

Church 02-26-2004 08:46 PM

Even though I didn't start the topic, I didn't say anything to detest it. I apologize to anyone who's show was ruined by this thread. I didn't stop to think about time zones. Sorry again. :(

Fremen 02-26-2004 09:57 PM

It's too bad about Hatch. I was really digging him.
I didn't get to see him first time around, and I feel he didn't get enough time, this time, to start to manipulate everyone.
It's to Colbys' and the other's credit that they were able to oust him so early.

Now if only someone will oust Boston Rob.

Esen 02-27-2004 03:40 AM

Sorry That was sheer stupidity on my part.

Boston Rob is the best! But it is too bad about Hatch. What's really interesting is how heavily last nights show must have been edited. The producers made it appear that Colby was a target, yet everyone voted for Hatch. I'm guessing that a bit of footage is laying on the editing room floor.

Hatch was the 2nd most annoying person on the show. Good riddance to him and his arrogant pompous "I could build a fire in 1 second if I wanted to" bullcrap.

The most annoying person on the show is Shii Ann. I can't wait till she's voted off! But, she keeps her mouth shut, so she'll be around for a while.

Can't wait to see Jeff give Susan the smack-down for yelling at him.

Next weeks battle between Jeff & Sue is gonna be great. I am very excited for that. Should be a good episode.

philosopherking 02-27-2004 08:45 AM

Any idea what Sue was so mad about? I was thinking it had to do with Richard getting all in her face while naked during the immunity challenge. I wasn't paying much attention to the preview though, so I'm not exactly sure.

bookerV 02-27-2004 09:00 AM

From what I gathered of her rant it was about the Hatch's naked dance in her face.

It's gonna be sweet...

Well it was still a good episode even if I did know who was going to get booted. The last part of the show was pretty pointless for me but the rest was entertaining.

I did enjoy seeing Hatch booted. The guy was an ass. Sue's also an annoying one. Hopefully she'll be soon to go.

Can't wait for the Jeff and Sue showdown either. Should be interesting.

I enjoyed watching Richard. Sure he was a pompus back of crap, but at least he was amusing. I just can't stand Sue anymore, I agree Hatch's naked wang wagging was out of line, but it looks like she just looses it next week. I doubt Jeff is gonna stand for that.

Oh and Boston Rob is dumber than 3 bags of rocks.

happyraul 02-27-2004 12:39 PM

I think you are underestimating Boston Rob. My money is on him to win the thing, he is smarter than you give him credit for. To be honest with you, the women on the show are the most annoying players, and the least entertaining. Entertainment wise, Hatch was at the top, but Big Tom and Boston Rob are pretty good too.

Plan9Senior 02-27-2004 02:48 PM

Boston Rob smart? Common happyraul, don't put yourself into the level in which you are classifying that guy as anything other then a box of rocks. Entertaining to watch talk? Yes. Smart? lol, he can't even make complete sentances without struggling.

the_marq speaks the truth: Richard was deniably annoying but entertaining to watch. You gotta 'love to hate' someone or at least have someone give you chuckle by how arrogant he is. I will miss him for spice he throws into this Survivor mix.

Esen 02-27-2004 07:48 PM

I wouldn t be surprised if they brought him back, lol
Burt anyways,
I am still freaking out how stupid I was to spoit it for eveyone, I didn t think, I did one of the things I hate.

But anyways the show must go on

Averett 02-28-2004 10:39 AM

I didnt find Hatch entertaining at all. His bit was old. Ohhh look at me, I'm gay and naked! Whatever. He would have been much more funny if he weren't so over the top all the time. Good riddence.

Next week's episode should be sweet.

Word on the street is that Sue Hawk will file lawsuits against Mark Burnett and CBS for the 'embarrasment and dehumanization' she endured. While it's never right for a naked man [even homsexual] to to make unwelcome sexual gestures at a woman, if you watched the immunity challenge it showed Sue turning onto the path to her left, stop, then take a few steps backwards and onto the path on her right where Richard was. She then said made a few comments about his "pee-pee" before Rich took the bantering to the next level.
