The John Henson Project

has anyone watched this show on spike tv? i was a fan of skunk boy when he used to do talk soup, but ive seen the commercials for this show and it didnt seem amusing to me at all.

lately a lot of comedians have tried their stab at a talk show (i.e. The Orlando Jones show, Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, Jimmy Kimmel Live) but none of them are particularly popular.

what do you guys think?

I've watched it a few times. It is more like a solo Man Show than a talk show. It has its funny spots but there is a lot of crap in between.

I too was a fan of John Henson on Talk Soup so I thought I'd give this show a try. I didn't really like it all that much. It seemed the whole time that John was either over-acting or over-enthusiastic. There was a hilarious bit on the show that I saw though. They were doing some sort of "Could I Kick His Ass" segment, and Clay Akin came up. John said, "I could kick Clay Akin's ass with Clay Akin's ass!" Then he went on to talk about ripping it off and beating him with it. Good times.

My girlfriend summed up the "John Henson Project" thusly:

"It's like Maxim Magazine got a TV show."

Choose accordingly.

I think out of the 3 episodes I've seen, I've laughed twice. That sucks big time because I was a big fan of Henson when he was doing Talk Soup on E!

It may just be a cheap imitation of the Man Show, it is still better than the second incarnation of the Man Show though.

Actually I think if Maxim got its own show it would be better. This show is bad. I tried to watch it and he really is forcing some of this.

I, for one, think John Henson is hilarious. I loved him back on Talk Soup and I don't think he's changed a bit. I think he even has some of the old Talk Soup gang back doing some of the obnoxious laughter after his corny jokes.

After reading this thread, I will not watch this show. I had absolutely no interest in watching it before, and this thread further solidfied that notion. The commercials make him look like a ripoff of Will Ferrell from SNL.

When I opened this thread I was thinking "Jim" Henson and was kind of confused. But now I get it. I don't really watch TV and I don't think I'm gonna make an effort to watch this.

I feel your pain. I was so upset when he left the show and I'd see him every once in a while doing some small part on a commercial or whatever. Then one day, I saw him on some network tv show about funniest commercials and lost all hope for a comeback

I lost interest rather quickly. Like said before, it's very Man Showish. I did like him on talk soup, and they are trying to use that type of format with this too. I'll watch again, just to make sure it wasn't a bad episode that I saw.

That's exactly what I thought. The show looked like an SNL sketch where Will Ferrell was portraying a lame TV show host.

Is it just me or are there only 3 episodes of the show and Spike TV plays them all at least twice a night?
