Aramgeddon and "sensitivites concerning current events"
Maybe I'm missing something, but Armageddon just started on ABC, and this was the disclaimer at the beginning:
"Due to sensitivities concerning current events and some violent content, viewer discretion is advised." I get the violence part, but I can't make any kind of connection between the movie and current events. Anyone have any ideas?

Didn't you watch the end of it? They broke the detenator on the bomb, so they left Howard Dean on the asteroid along with Bruce Willis to tell him he finished third in Iowa and get him to blow up.

Some people are still sensitive to images of cities and landmarks being destroyed. I don't mean to trivialize it - that stuff doesn't seem like entertainment anymore to me either...

What is the point in time where a current event is no longer considered current? I'd say anything that might make a viewer uncomfortable would be based on ties to a recent event, not a current one.

the more pressing question is, how did you sit through that movie. I watched it too and wish I hadn't. The first half seemed entertaining enough, but then the 2nd half hit and it turned awful very quickly.
Also, to add to the reasons for the disclaimer, several shots of World Trade Center were shown, and there was a line when meteors were hitting New York "Saddam Hussein's bombing us!" This movie was so bad that by the end I was rooting for the asteroid. |

haha, I guess im dumb I enjoyed Armageddon some im not sure why mainly because I was waiting to see how bad they would screw up and see who would die. Shame I was hoping they blew up the asteroid then one tiny chunk breaks off and blow up the station where they land. Then the only one who survives is the girl and shes crying as her poor lover is killed.
I make evil endings dont I? |
