I don't know if it's been officially announced, but I've been hearing June.

I'm waiting on Season 2 to be realeased on DVD too. HBO usually releases their DVD sets a year apart, which would mean a February release for Six Feet Under, but no word on that either.

This is driving me crazy. I bought season one, watched season two, but then canceled HBO and haven't seen any of season three. I hate how long they take in between releasing these.

I watched all three seasons when they originally aired, but it's been so long I barely remember what happened. I'm not quite in the same boat as you, but it is rather frustrating. I wouldn't mind having that reminder before a new season airs. Thank God the Sopranos DVDs are caught up.

I'm on the official Six Feet Under mailing list called "The Eulogy," this came to me today

Quote:

Six Feet Under Writers Back at Work

Anxious fans will be happy to hear that it won't be too long before the Fisher family returns to HBO, according to Six Feet Under Executive Producer Alan Poul, who reports that the show's writers have returned from hiatus and are at the table working on the series' fourth season.

The writing team started working on the new season at the beginning of October, Poul says, and spent several weeks just talking about general directions and storylines for the characters. Now, as details are fleshed out, each episode's outline is completed, "and one writer peels away to go write it." As of mid-December, the writers had scripts for the first four episodes and had worked out stories for the first seven.

Poul says time away from the show between seasons has been a key to keeping the storylines fresh. "The most important thing to do during the hiatus is to forget about everything," he says. "This was especially true for Alan Ball, who was really exhausted after three seasons in a row. Only during the last month or so of the hiatus did we begin to focus on the new season, and we were able to do so from a refreshed vantage point. Many of the ideas we had at the end of last season were discarded and replaced by more interesting notions that wouldn't have surfaced without the long break."

So what can we expect to see in the coming episodes? "In this season we will follow our characters' healing processes after the traumatic events of last season, and I think there will be an unusual amount of personal growth and change across the board. We didn't want to get stuck in a rut or become repetitive, so there may be more reaching out and more connecting than the Fishers have experienced in their recent history. But don't worry, that's not to say things will go smoothly; we may just reach a higher level of dysfunction."

Thanks for sharing, that's very interesting. I read an interview with Lili Taylor (who played Nate's wife Lisa) who hinted that she'd be back for a few episodes this season...

I'm waiting for season two to come on up here in Vancouver. Season one was great (just showed it in the fall [Yes we are really behind up here]). Don't know when the next season's on but one of my favorite "new" shows!

I'd love to read that interview if you (or anyone else) could supply a link.

I have a feeling that it'll be close to the end of the Soprano's season that they'll start Six Feet Under. They seem to stagger the shows so that they almost always have new programing going.

The entire season 3 is available on "On Demand". Coincidentally I rewatched it today. I can't wait for season 4 because of the cliffhanger Spoiler: -what with Lisa and all. (It's still not clear how she died yet.)

I wish I had HBO On Demand... I only get basic HBO, not that I should complain because it's included in my rent.

By the way Astrocloud, you might want to edit your post to throw in some [spoiler] tags for those who haven't seen it.

Season 4 Premieres June 13

The Fishers are back - and they seem...happy?

Don't miss the premiere of an all-new season of the acclaimed SIX FEET UNDER Sunday, June 13 at 9pm ET.

Mena Suvari to Guest Star

When she first worked with Alan Ball on AMERICAN BEAUTY, she was 18 years old, playing a cheerleader whose biggest secret was her virginity. Now Mena Suvari, all grown up and coming off a string of dark indie films, joins Ball's SIX FEET UNDER as a "balls-out" performance artist who befriends Claire Fisher. "Her performances are very much about shocking people," Suvari says."I've really enjoyed that, because she's so much different than I am."

Read more about new SFU guest star Mena Suvari and her offbeat new role in an exclusive interview.

So has anybody been watching Six Feet Under this season?

I still think it's a fantastic show but I've been somewhat disappointed so far.

Unlike most people I talked to, I really did like the episode where David got assaulted. Despite the fact that it was a really uncomfortable episode to watch, I did feel it was realistic and true to his character, and the actor (Michael C. Hall) did a fantastic job.

It's no surprise to me that Brenda (as of last week) has fucked up her relationship - I think the writers have to keep her with Nate, otherwise she has no real connection to the Fishers.

The Rico plotline is beginning to annoy me, but I'm intrigued to see how far the whole thing with the stripper is going to go.

Mena Suvari is doing a nice job, although last week, where they were all singing that song together - a little cheesy. But I don't think she's overacting or anything.

And I'm bummed that they got rid of Arthur.

Any thoughts? Any regular watchers?

I've been watching Season 4 and I'm pretty happy with it so far. My girlfriend and I missed the last 2 eps, so we On Demanded them on Thursday night and watched them back to back, starting with David's assault ep, then the Brenda/Claire gettin' all sortsa high ep.

The assault ep was VERY well done, but it creeped me out big time. I was hoping that at the end, the dude would have ended it, if you know what I mean. I was surprised when he drove away.

As far as last week's ep, I wish that Claire and Mena's character would hurry up and have a lesbian encounter. You KNOW it's going to happen eventually. If not, I'll be VERY surpised. Mena's character is only on for a few more eps, so they'd better act fast.

What I can't believe is that each of the Season 1 and 2 DVD box sets are $70+ a piece! I realize that they're good quality sets and all, but jesus! That's expensive.

I'm kind of pissed Arthur's gone too. As unsettling a character that he was, he really kept you guessing. I love this show. Suvari's character is hilarious. I love Alan Ball's ability to portray these characters doing such ridiculous things and having such silly ideas at times, but still make you appreciate and respect the characters. I can't wait for Claire vs. Mena's lesbian death-match.

I was so happy to see Kathy Bates on this weeks episode. Her character is probably the funniest on the show. I hope she makes another appearance before the end of the season. I don't laugh out loud nearly as much as I used to while watching SFU.

i really wish Arthur was still on the show too. it'd be nice if they brought him back as a potential suitor for ruth (since shit with George isn't going so well)

I fully agree. The minute I saw Ruth's sister, I was hoping that Kathy Bates would be there. I think she's just such a talented actress - everything she does is so effortless.

I found it interesting that Rico had sex with Sophia this week. Took me by surprise, but I guess he figured it was a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation.

I also thought Keith's "coming out" to his coworker was hysterical.

This last week's ep was VERY good, but I must say, I was quite shocked when Rico was with Sophia. For a man that's done everything for his wife and their past problems, that was a bit rash, but then again, this show is the most realistic view of people ever, and it's perfect.
