Cannibal! The Musical

I stumbled by this Gem in Suncoast while shopping for Christmas presents.

Quote:
Cannibal! The Musical is the true story of the only person convicted of cannibalism in America - Alferd Packer. The sole survivor of an ill-fated trip to the Colorado Territory, he tells his side of the harrowing tale to news reporter Polly Pry as he awaits his execution. And his story goes like this: While searching for gold and love in the Colorado Territory, he and his companions lost their way and resorted to unthinkable horrors, including toe-tapping songs!
A film made by South Park's Trey Parker while in college, this is one of the funniest films I've seen. The entire DVD is excellent, and the commentary is one of the funniest I've heard. The actors (including Matt Stone) and Trey begin to drink at the beginning of the commentary and by the end they're all piss drunk.

Just wondering if anyone else has come across this film. You can look over Pics or download songs from the official website: http://www.cannibalthemusical.net/

Ugh this topic reminded me of Cannibal Holocaust which was hands down the most disturbing movie I have ever seen in my life .

I'm really surprised that more people don't know about this movie. With all the popularity of South Park, I just assumed Cannibal: The Musical, Orgazmo, etc. were becoming common knowledge.

You know it's good when it's a story about Cannibalism but gains inspiration from Oklahoma. And yes... the commentary is hilarious. I gave my thoughts on it in the "rate the last movie you watched" thread too.

My friends down at college were always trying to get me to see this, but I never found a time where I remembered to. I guess I may have to now.

A friend of mine got me a copy when South Park was just becoming popular. In fact, it was this movie that led me to start watching South Park.
I guess now I'll have to grab the DVD.

It was a hit around work. We used to sing all the songs during the lunch rush. Sigh, good times. Good times.

I guess all that's left to say is 'cow bell solo'

it's very funny, and poorly acted, but if you liked Orgazmo you'd like this movie a lot. It's one of the few Trey and Matt productions that i really enjoy, well..except baseketball.. but that'll just be our little secret

I think I posted a journal entry about this not too long ago - we watched it with our downstairs neighbors who are huge fans of the movie. It was almost like watching it with commentary. I don't think it's that funny if you don't already know Trey and Matt and their style of humor. But I really liked Orgazmo and I LOVED Baseketball, so it was right up my alley.

I'd really like to watch it with the commentary, I heard it just gets funnier and funnier.

Fun fact: The little jingle you hear at the end of South Park, when they show that image of the airplane that says "Brannif: Believe it!" - that jingle is from the main theme song from Cannibal.

I have it queued up somewhere in Netflix. I'll probably end up seeing it sometime in the middle of 2004.

Whoa... I don't think I ever made a thread of this.. I'm sure I've spoken about in the Chat though. I like the movie.. its great. And it actually is based on a true story. It most definately doesn't mean all parts are real ... but there are some true quotes in there. I got this when it was on VHS. Before this movie came to DVD, the VHS sold upwards to 80 bucks on Ebay.

You lookin at my EYE?! -pus spurt-

I'm always impressed with Trey's songs. Even watching South Park, I enjoyed the quality of the songs, which was unusual for a show like South Park. When I saw the South Park movie I was blown away by the great musical numbers. Cannibal has some great tunes.. I espically like "The Trapper Song" and "Hang the Bastard. "

Heheh, I thought the thread title was, "Cannonball! The Musical".
I was so looking forward to a cross-country car race musical.

Wow, Orgazmo was done by them too? I thought that movie was HILARIOUS (at least, I did when I saw it many years ago as a stupid teenager). Perhaps I'll have to check this one out too.

Quite possibly the greatest audio commentary of all time on the DVD. I like to listen and drink along with them.

Own it, love it.

Big fan of Trey Parker obviously (see sig). I especially love his songs, both the old ones (I spit on your love, Dead ballerina, Twin brotehrs in Love) and the new DVDA-songs.

It shows that he majored in music.

Here's the word from CrapTV on Dec 21:
Quote:
The orgazmo dvd has been pushed back due to the fact that the widescreen print of the movie has still yet to be found. It has been considered MIA and they are making a new one. Fret not patient Orgazmo fans. The print is going to be delivered in January and shortly after the DVD will be released.
