Man, it's hard when you include anime. I am all about Spike of Cowboy Bebop, but I am warming up to Lady J of GI Joe since she has revealed herself to possess a Ph. D. in physics.

Plummie 05-01-2003 10:50 PM

Taking a trip down memory lane, I would have to say He-Man and She-Ra (Princess of Power!).. yeah!

Cartoons in the 80's ruled.

Oh and South Park is pretty damn good too. :D

Dangermouse.... 'nuff said

:D

Gortexfogg 05-31-2003 09:35 PM

Daffy Duck
Also that buzzard from old Warner Bros. cartoons that always said, "Elvis...Elvis, my boy...". He was a hoot.

RedCometChar 05-31-2003 10:07 PM

OMG...Dangermouse! :D Seeing him again is like getting hit upside the head with a hammer and having all the memories come flooding back (in a completely positive manner, I assure you)... memories of the other oddball British cartoons that used to play on Nickelodeon- Bananaman, Count Duckula...

Black & White Popeye (I totally agree... the Famous Studios ones are completely toothless and unfunny)
Moe the Bartender
Spongebob Squarepants
Speed Racer

DIDO

I forgot about dangermouse (and his Mole sidekick, what was his name?)!! What about Inspector Gadget, and heathcliff!(sp?)

But my faves now would have to be of course Homer and Stewie...

Has anyone seen Home Movies? I love that cartoon... But Coach McGurck is too funny! And the Infragable KRUNK has to be in there too,(from the dexter spin off, with Major Glory..)

I don't think anime should count as cartoons, it's anime and there are too many cool badass characters. Like Spike for example...

ok ok I guess you can tell I watch too many catoons!!

RedCometChar 05-31-2003 11:23 PM

The mole's name was Penfold.:D And they say I've wasted my life...

No cartoon character beats Bugs Bunny from the 1940s to the 1950s. None. Might as well not even try.

My favorite current cartoon character? Well, that's tough since I don't tend to watch 'em. Maybe Kyle Broslovsky.

sweeze 06-02-2003 10:05 AM

I always liked super chicken from the george of the jungle show...

Muscles Mouse from Tom and Jerry. Jerrys cousin in the yellow and black sweater.

ok i am way to into cartoons

Knolan Fairdale 06-02-2003 11:37 PM

I think it's kinda hard to claim any cartoon character that's come out very recently to be among the greats unless it's truly, truly groundbreaking or unique; but with that being said, it's not gonna stop me from touting the recent ones.

Homer Jay Simpson is definitely up there, Stewie Griffin of Family Guy is close, but I'd also have to say Bugs Bunny, Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, Scrooge McDuck, Chilly Willy the Penguin, and Mickey Mouse.

While we're at it, why not add Stitch (Experiment 626) and Eric Cartman to the pile, too?

Does Boba Fett from the SW Holiday Special count? hehe

:hmm:

Xixox 06-03-2003 02:31 AM

I'll second Stitch. I love that little fucker.

But my all-time favorite would have to be Homer... just for the sheer multitude of profound quotes he has blessed us with.

After Homer and Stitch... Penfold :)

mystmarimatt 06-04-2003 11:20 AM

strongbad, if anyone has seen homestarrunner.com

Johnny Bravo, and Stewie

brandon11983 06-04-2003 01:36 PM

another vote for Stitch here. he is the shit.

rockzilla 06-04-2003 01:40 PM

Strongbad rules, I'm also partial to Lupin 3rd and Jigen (track down a copy of The Castle of Cagliostro) and as the sig might indicate, Bender from Futurama

Podmore 06-05-2003 07:36 PM

As a kid it was Gigantor (the spaceage robot). I can still sing the theme song. How much of a geek does that make me!

Now my favorite single character is probably Patrick from SpongeBob Squarepants.

Tophat665 06-05-2003 07:54 PM

Folks, It's passe these days, but Bugs Bunny was the best cartoon character ever. Particularly as done by Chuck Jones.

Nowadays, it's tight. I have to say the Tick has Samurai Jack by a hair, but that's really comparing apples and Buicks,

As for the stuff that's not quite new, yet not really old school, I submit that the animaniacs, particularly Whacko Warner were grade A stuff. Whackoratti belching The Blue Danube after guzzling coke? Priceless.

Pyrate 07-08-2003 07:17 AM

Droopy D'-So cool, and I love when he would go wild then suddenly be calm again. His laugh is brilliant too, and it's hilarious when he's mad but looks calm, then does something evil!

The Tick (I though I was the only one!!!)-One of the very best!

Daffy Duck-I just love his misery and obnoxiousness!

Le Pepe Le Pew-The other calm and cool don.

Bugs Bunny-The original calm and cool don.

Mihoshi from Tenchi Muyo-she's just so funny and stupid.

Pyrate 07-08-2003 07:18 AM

Oh, and Foghorn Leghorn. Absolutely brilliant he is.

Quant 07-08-2003 10:02 AM

What about the little French mouse on Tom & Jerry? I think he's Jerry's cousin or nephew or something...
