Birth of the Pink Panther - Why?
All I ask is why? If you haven't heard, they are making another Pink Panther movie, and it stars Steve Martin as Inspecter Clouseau.
I just don't see this working out. The Pink Panther movies worked because Peter Sellers (one of the best, if not best comic actor of all time) played the part of the inspector so well. To me he is Inspector Clouseau and this will just tarnish the series more than what has already been done to it with the other "sequels." |

That not withstanding, give Steve Martin a chance, granted he has done some crappy films lately (Out of Towners for example). I still think he has the raw comedic talent to carry this role, just pray for good material and not "Inspector Gadget" crap.

Granted, I do think Steve Martin is funny in a lot of his older stuff and he has made some crap lately. I don't know if his talent is for the subtle humor that would be required for Inspector Clouseau. |

I'm a big fan of Steve Martin, but I want this movie never to get finished. Peter Sellers is much funnier than Steve Martin and Sellers is the only person who could ever play Inspector Clouseau.
I hope they at least use all new jokes and stuff and don't try to copy anything from films. |

after all the Austin Powers movies... why not revive the Inspector? I'm surprised that it wasn't done much earlier than now....

80's movie remakes, books that sucked, updated period pieces, and add-on movies (sequels and ughhh prequels) It's a wonder why the movie business is bitching about losing money. It isn't a vast movie pirate network or text messaging sucking the lifeblood out of Hollywood. It's shitty movies.
I just watched The Return of the Pink Panther on AMC and, as far as I'm concerned, Steve Martin will never ever be Inspector Clouseau. Here's a link from IMDB if anyone is interested.... http://imdb.com/title/tt0383216/

WHY GOD WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
A. They insist on turning EVERY comic book ever made into a movie. So far, it hasn't been bad, but I'm just waiting for the Inferior Five to get thier own. B. Crappy sequel/prequel. Need I say more? C. Old TV shows. Because god forbid the baby boomers die a quiet death. D. Childrens books. Because hollywood just can't resist RAPING MY CHILDHOOD WITH A LARGE RUSTY SPATULA! Hollywood originality = dead.
