Favorite Late Night Show Host? *Poll*

I realize that Mr. Spacemonkey already started a related thread about this back in August, but this time I've added a poll. Tonight got me thinkin' about who here likes the different mainstream hosts, or if there are other hosts that aren't mentioned in the poll, you can mention them in a reply.

djtestudo 11-28-2003 10:33 PM

Whenever I actually sit to watch one, I prefer Letterman.

Lasereth 11-28-2003 10:44 PM

David Letterman definitely. Anything but Jay Leno, really. He annoys the piss outta me. Letterman is funny because he harps on the fact that no late-night man is funny anymore. The way he makes fun of himself for not being funny actually makes him funny in a sort of satirical way.

frankgrimes 11-28-2003 11:03 PM

I voted Letterman because year in and year out he's always been my favourite (especially over the abysmal Leno) but John Stewart is great too.

mattevil 11-28-2003 11:16 PM

Conan O'Brien is my favorite. His show has basically made me into an insomniac its so good.seems like hes the only one that is keeping alive the off the wall stuff dave did in his nbc days.i mean is their no love for triumph? or what about a man that had john tesh, william shatner, and abe vigoda ride a three person bike?I alos like conan for his self deprecating humour and respect for the people he follows in the footsteps of (johnny and dave)

Evil Milkman 11-29-2003 01:06 AM

Oops! I suppose John Stewart would be a late night host. I watch him quite a bit, he's hilarious. I'm surprised I didn't think to add him to the poll.

TheClarkster 11-29-2003 03:15 AM

Basically any besides Leno.
But, I'll have to go with Conan. His interviews are so great.

Moskie 11-29-2003 07:21 AM

I voted Conan.

But I gotta step in and say that I don't find Leno bad at all. He presents himself well, and he can be funny sometimes. Although his jokes are pretty predicatable. Letterman on the other hand, as people have pointed out, isn't funny. And the fact that he is aware of this and makes cracks at himself about it isn't endearing to me, it's annoying. I usually want to reach through the TV and strangle the guy when he comes on.

Jonsgirl 11-29-2003 09:26 AM

Leno is just retarded. I used to love Letterman, but he's just not as funny as he used to be. For my money, It's Conan. But I miss Andy.

Yeah and what about Jimmy Kimmel too. He gets no love at all. Poor Jimmy. :(

Oh well, doesn't matter, it's Conan all the way.

Baldrick 11-29-2003 01:01 PM

Oh, hands down it's Jon Stewart. It's not just Jon himself though (although he is damned funny), it's the whole cast of characters that is on the show.

Not a show goes by that I don't have at least a few real laugh out loud moments. I've laughed so hard I cried at least a few times.

kwoodmex 11-29-2003 01:28 PM

Definitely Conan, I can't remember watching any night and not laughing my ass off or falling off the couch at least once.

and you can't forget about triumph. I think he's great.............FOR ME TO POOP ON!! i keed i keed

Cycler 11-29-2003 01:50 PM

Letterman, it was between Conan and Dave, I watch more of Dave so he wins at least in my book.

World's King 11-29-2003 02:04 PM

Conan O'Brian.

Without a doubt.

rockzilla 11-29-2003 07:55 PM

A friend of mine once said

"Watching Dave Letterman is like looking into the mouth of The Abyss, it's terrifying."

I'm not up late enough for Conan anymore, but I'd rather remember old Conan episodes than watch new Leno or Leterman.

And don't get me started on Kilborn, if there was such a thing as 'Justifiable Homicide"....

lordjeebus 11-29-2003 08:37 PM

Conan and Jon Stewart are the only ones that make me laugh frequently. I voted for Conan.

I don't mind Leno that much. I actually prefer him slightly to Letterman. I don't watch either of them often, however.

Watching Craig Kilborn fills me with pity for the man. At least he opened up the Daily Show slot for Jon Stewart.

I've been watching a better version of Triumph the insult dog in Canuckland for alot longer than Triumph has been around - Ed the Sock. Because of that, Triumph has been just blah to me. Aside from the brilliant Star Wars movie line episode, which was hilarious! :D

arael 11-29-2003 10:23 PM

Conan O'Brien has interviews that actually aren't boring!!! he's a damn funny guy. I guess that's the sense of humor you develop from that harvard educatoin =)

sailor 11-30-2003 08:21 AM

Conan. Something about him just cracks me up. Great interviews, too.

Kaos 11-30-2003 11:45 AM

I like Letterman, I like Leno all depending on what guests these 2 guys get, but Conan is hilarious.

I can't stand Kilborn though. He's not funny, interviews are bland and boring and he just plain sucks.

chingador 12-13-2003 09:02 PM

It's great to see conan winning. His show is the best. You gotta be able to genuinely laugh at yourself like he does to be worth watching.

bundy 12-13-2003 09:14 PM

letterman.
canīt stand Leno.
donīt get the chance to watch conan, so i donīt know him.

InTeGrA77 12-13-2003 09:29 PM

I love letterman, he's the man!

leno annoys the hell out of me...like fingernails on a chalkboard, to say the least

as for the others, meh, no one holds a candle to letterman

My Favorite: This person walked seven blocks. Now let’s imagine for a moment that one block is equal in length to the continent of Africa. That would mean he walked across Africa seven times!

sigh, you had to have been there.

but I voted for letterman.

Yep he is real funny.

Destrox 12-14-2003 09:10 AM

Conan , Leno never was good.

I just never got into Letterman.

Mid-Late nite goes to Stewert for sure.

brandon11983 12-14-2003 09:23 AM

Letterman gets my vote. I always liked his dry wit and sarcasm.

Sparhawk 12-14-2003 09:47 AM

Other - Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Best show on Television right now.

Chingal0 12-14-2003 01:09 PM

Conan all the way! John Stewart and the Daily Show are good, but I always find myself searching my directv guide for Conan. Always.

queedo 12-14-2003 02:25 PM

Conan O'Brien al the way, I used to be a Letterman fan but he has lost his edge.

Amethyst 12-23-2003 05:43 AM

When I watch them which is not often I prefer David Letterman.
But I don't watch it that often. Usually only when there is a celebrity that I want to see or I have some kind of interest in.

Starfish 12-23-2003 10:49 AM

Conan!

sherpahigh 12-23-2003 02:01 PM

Conan gets my vote. The Triumph Visits the 'Star Wars' Nerds clip is one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time. Check it our here if you want a good laugh: http://www.nbc.com/nbc/Late_Night_with_Conan_O'Brien/video/triumph.shtml

It's right at the bottom of the page.

lions20 01-01-2004 09:33 AM

I like Letterman, Leno and O'Brien but I gave my nod to Letterman.

Stare At The Sun 01-01-2004 12:58 PM

Woo for conan!

Peryn 01-01-2004 11:28 PM

All the late shows blow...with Stewart being the least crappy. He used to be funnier...but i get tires of hearing his political spin into all his jokes...gets old.

As for late late night...conan all the way. Usually his monologues get tedious and boring, so i flip over to kilborne for the monologue and commercials. Or if for some reason i dont like what i see from Conan.

Sleepyjack 01-01-2004 11:37 PM

We only get Letterman on free to air TV over here, so that'd be my answer by defualt. But he's pretty good nevertheless.
I've seen Jay Leno though, and he's an imposter. How can he still have a show?

NbCal 01-02-2004 08:24 AM

Conan is my favorite, I like Jimmy Kimmel also. Conan is the only one I can watch all the way through regardless of how crappy the current guest is. The fat kid on Kimmel that goes out and interviews people is hilarious also.

quadro2000 01-02-2004 10:02 AM

Conan. He reminds me of how Letterman used to be on his early NBC days.

EeOh1 01-02-2004 04:57 PM

Letterman is awesome. He's hilarious. And, although I like Bush, his million clips of George Bush's fowl ups (or spits on the White House front lawn) are hilarious.

And since Kimmel was mentioned, I think he's really awful. Hardly fun, and I don't see his audience belly laughing either. But...

That fat guy is awesome.
