Whats the pride of your collection comic fans?

I own a completely thrashed Amazing Spider-man #1, a Dare-devil #1, and a NM Amazing Spider man #129. The AS #1 is the most awesome comic I own because how many people can say that they own a copy of AS #1? What is the pride of your collection?

BulletCatcher 11-16-2003 04:17 AM

I'd have to say the pride of my collection would have to be the first 7 issues of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. All original and all in Mint to Near Mint condition.

gnort 11-16-2003 09:43 AM

Ive got a very good copy of Amazing Spider-man #50 which was voted one of the best comic covers of all time, plus it's the first appearance of the kingpin. I really should look into getting this thing graded or something. Plus i have a beat copy of a ridiculously early issue of action comics, it's barely hanging together.

mattevil 11-16-2003 12:44 PM

i got a pretty decent copy of silver surfer#1 about seven years ago at a flea market for $5. feel bad for rippin the guy off now.

pocon1 11-16-2003 12:52 PM

I've got Booster Gold 1 through 9!:D Woo hoo! I hope the 80's come back. BTW, did anyone ever read continuity comics, like Armor or Megalith?

TheClarkster 11-16-2003 04:47 PM

Probably one of my Batman ones. Dark Knight returns and such. Or the one where he fights Superman. Or perhaps X-Men #1 with the big fold out cover.

Psivage 11-16-2003 05:05 PM

My first comic Uncanny X-Men #157

I once picked up a Tales of Suspense #59 at a swap meet for $5. It's probably worth $200 now. I didn't know a whole lot about that particular comic back then but i knew it had to be worth more than that. I never felt bad about rippin the guy off because 1) I was a kid and 2) the guy I bought it off of was a comic guy and shoulda known what the hell he was selling! Oh and he was a dick too...

I have Capt. America #117 it's the second apperance of Falcon and I think Avengers #51 or 52.

Moobie 11-17-2003 07:30 AM

My first twenty issue run of Deathlok.... er.... wait, I mean.... *sob*

My Preacher and Appleseed Trades. Those are the only one's that I have that I'm proud to own. Everything else is just shit. In twenty years all my comics will be worth more as toilet paper than comics. Now that's funny.

FYI, I'm pretty sure that capt #117 is the first appearence of Falcon. Nothing like a disco lovin black man stuck on an island with a bird...

For sheer personal value and not actual worth, my prize is Shade the changing man 1-50 from DC/veritigo. Man, I never thought a comic book would make me cry.

psicon 11-17-2003 06:35 PM

sorry I was wrong I got Cap#118.

Prophecy 11-17-2003 07:37 PM

I have a lot of decent comics as I didn't start collecting till later in life. But the "best" comics I have are:

1) My copy of the "Death of Superman" signed by the artists and writers on the original black plastic cover.

2)My copies of X-Factor #106, X-Force #38 and Excalibur #82 which tells the Phalanx Covenant storyline.

3)The Spider-man where Gwen Stacey dies. I'd tell you the number but I'd have to go digging around in my stuff to find it.

I'm sure if those are really worth much, but the seemed kind of important to me. Also does anyone know if the Lady Death comics by Chaos Comics are worth anything?

My first 6 issues of Wonderman and 20 or so of Darkhawk own your Deathlok...

Seriously though, the only 'valuable' comics I've got are Death:The High Cost of Living, and Gambits first full appearance in Uncanny.

gwr_gwir 11-18-2003 12:47 AM

at one point or another...

the complete Earth-Universe-Paradise X storylines.
the complete Maximum Carnage storyline.
the complete Age of Apocalypse storyline.
the complete 12 issue LS of Inhumans from a few years ago...
I dunno, some more sets somewhere...

Mr.Deflok 11-18-2003 02:13 AM

Probably my collection of Sandman TPB and comics all signed by Neil Gaiman, probably.

J-DaWg 11-18-2003 05:51 PM

First 6 issues of Chuck Norris Karate Commandos .....

Darkhawk owns! I kept with it from the first issue until Mike Manley quit. Hella due for a comeback.

Value-wise, my collection's not so great. Mostly manga, which isn't worth squat on the secondary market. I think the individual book I like the most currently is my copy of Archie Meets the Punisher, though.

MPower 11-19-2003 11:43 AM

My Xmen run 93 - current. and my signed hardcover watchmen.

Lunchbox7 11-19-2003 05:20 PM

Uncanny X-men #3, #4 and #8

portwineboy 11-19-2003 06:55 PM

About a year ago I yanked open an old suitcase and found a few comics from when I was a kid. I put my Raiders of the Lost Ark 1 & 2 in Seal a Meal bags. Surprisingly, it worked pretty well! They appear to be in good shape, far better than my old horror comics which didn't fare very well. I have a feeling the bags I bought in the 70s/80s weren't acid free.
