probably my favorite is the man with no name trilogy(fistful dollars;few dollars more;Good, the bad,and the ugly) the movies actually got better with each sequal.

these are pretty good though
-indiana jones
-evil dead trilogy(evil dead 2 was the best IMO).the first one was even filmed in the town where i was born.
-back to the future

I always liked the Back to the Future trilogy. They flowed together nicely and I was content with the ending.

would el mariachi / deperado / once upon a time in mexico count as a trilogy?

i know el mariachi didnt have antonio or salma, but its pretty much the prequel to desperado and it was by the same director

I'd have to go with The Matrix Trilogy. Although, I have to check out El Mariachi. The last two in the series alone could make that one of my favorite 'trilogies'.

The Terminator Trilogy
Indiana Jones Trilogy
Alien Trilogy (part 4 never happened, NEVER!)
and of course LOTR will be on the list too and I'm not sure whereabouts The Matrix trilogy fits on my list, I loved it but can't quite place it...

Back to the Future, without a doubt

LOTR will definitely be up there

The Matrix trilogy started with so much potential -- potential ruined by the following movies, though

The original Star Wars trilogy.

Although LOTR is close to becoming a close second.

Matrix "could have" done it...but they fucked up the conclusion...it's not one really.
Same with the "Godfather" saga.

Surf II: The End of the Trilogy (1984)

What is a trilogy? What a trilogy is since it's not just a threesome of a movie, is Indiana Jones truly a trilogy because it has three movies in it?

In order:

1. Star Wars
2. Indiana Jones
3. Back to the Future
4. The Jersey Trilogy (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy)

Haven't seen the third part of The Matrix or LoTRs yet, so I can't rank them yet.

The Matrix trilogy, with LotR trilogy as a close second. Star Wars is good, but just can't cut it.

never have seen either of the two sequels to LOTR or Matrix and have zero desire so have to go with:
Back to the Future
Star Wars 1-3 (can easily forget those latest two even exist and the next prequel ranks up there with the Marix/LOTR sequels in the "wait until bargain bin DVD rental and maybe not even then" category.
The Thin Man Series

Hmm.

Lord of the Rings will certainly be number 1.
The first three Pink Panther Movies
Star Wars 4-6
The Man With No Name (Samurai Movies rock, even when done with cowboys as interpreted by Italians)
The Matrix certainly deserves mention.
Finally, the Godfather.

Other than that, some of the rest are worth watching, but none of them really rate.

Can't believe no one has even mentioned the Mad Max series, though.

Lord of the Ring so far tops my list. I'll hold final judgment till I see the last one. The Godfather would top my list but the third movie was no where near the caliber of the first two. The Scream movies are on my list for horror.

Also I have to mention The Man With No Name Trilogy for good measure it's on my list but I don't know where to place it. You know the Clint Eastwood movies:
A Fistful Of Dollars
For A Few Dollars More
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

The Candyman Trilogy.

Candyman
Candyman: Day of the Dead
Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh

Not a great trilogy, but it hasn't been mentioned before at least.
