What is your favorite Tarantino film?

Okay, folks, which Tarantino film is the best?

Reservoir Dogs
From Dusk To Dawn
Pulp Fiction
Jackie Brown
Kill Bill (haven't seen it yet--please, no spoilers!)

LaZy 10-15-2003 05:17 PM

pulp fiction because its pulp fiction. :D

Anomaly_ 10-15-2003 05:19 PM

I wouldn't consider From Dusk Till Dawn a Tarantino movie and I don't think Tarantino does either; he did have a part in the writing (and acting of course) but he didn't direct it. I can't decide between Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown as favorites go. Pulp Fiction has unforgettable, engaging dialogue and weaves the story of three parties really well. Jackie Brown is a lot more sincere than Tarantino's other films and still manages to have a frantic plot and good dialogue. I haven't seen Kill Bill yet but I'm trying not to build it up to unattainable standards.

burntmonkey 10-15-2003 05:34 PM

Yeah, I wasn't sure about that one. That would explain the subheader on Kill Bill:

Quentin Tarantino's Fourth Film

bundy 10-15-2003 06:11 PM

i had to pick Pulp FIction... but that may change since i´m about to go and see Kill Bill.

Mr. Spacemonkey 10-15-2003 07:04 PM

Pulp Fiction baby!

mattevil 10-15-2003 07:34 PM

i like pulp fiction the best. but why isn't true romance listed?

Astrocloud 10-15-2003 10:19 PM

I had to go with Kill Bill... Even though I feel that True Romance (which he wrote and didn't produce) and even Killing Zoey (which he produced but didn't write) are better movies.

Kill Bill is a wild ride into a red-wet katana.

Has anyone seen "FOUR ROOMS story.4" -he supposed wrote, directed, produced, -etc. that one.

Chingal0 10-15-2003 10:37 PM

Four Rooms was kinda odd. A bit like Pulp Fiction, but not even close to Pulp. Im pretty sure (its been awhile) 'Four rooms' had 4 directors, each with their own room in a hotel, and the blah blah whatever else that went with that. Kinda boring.

Oh yea, voted for Pulp Fiction :D

YaWhateva 10-15-2003 10:47 PM

I had to go Kill Bill, i just cant get over how good it is. I love Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and Reservoir Dogs though.

Batman976 10-15-2003 11:37 PM

Tarantino did the fourth room in Four Rooms. That movie is very strange. The first room is crap, but they get better after that one. It's painfully obvious which room is Tarantino's. I'd say it's worth checking out though.. it's very funny at times.

As far as the subject on hand, I think I'm too hard pressed to choose. I like all of them for different reasons. I haven't seen Kill Bill either, so I wouldn't feel right voting anyway.

Xiangsu 10-16-2003 01:52 AM

I liked Four Rooms, but its been ages since I've seen it. I just saw True Romance the other day and I thought it was pretty good. I voted for Pulp Fiction. It was really tough between Pulp Fiction and Resevoir Dogs, I really liked both of them. Kill Bill has been good so far, but I'm not saying anything until I see the second part.

Macheath 10-16-2003 03:22 AM

Well, I'll put in a vote for Reservoir Dogs. Stylish, harrowing and gritty with great performances. Tim Roth played one of the best gunshot victims ever.

wondash 10-16-2003 04:20 AM

Pulp Fiction, with Kill Bill a close second!

Kadath 10-16-2003 05:28 AM

Reservoir Dogs. I have not seen Kill Bill or Jackie Brown, though, so my vote's pretty useless.

Gortexfogg 10-16-2003 05:36 AM

Pulp Fiction definately. It's just a great film.

JohnnyRock 10-16-2003 05:37 AM

voted for Resevoir dogs, but probably because I just watched it this weekend. Can really vote for any and not be wrong [haven't seen Kill Bill yet, have to wait for the DVD--ah, the joys of being a new parent!]

almostaugust 10-16-2003 07:30 AM

Yeah Pulp Fiction for me.

burntmonkey 10-16-2003 08:37 AM

I think each film has a uniqueness and appeal of its own.

For me, Pulp Fiction was the best. The Uma/Travolta dance was quite memorable and the best quotable dialogue:

Fabienne: Whose motorcycle is this?
Butch: It's a chopper, baby.
Fabienne: Whose chopper is this?
Butch: It's Zed's.
Fabienne: Who's Zed?
Butch: Zed's dead, baby. Zed's dead.

krazixs 10-16-2003 09:05 AM

See I'm going to have to go with Resvoir Dogs here that was my all time favorite

punx1325 10-16-2003 10:26 AM

I thought kill bill was the best just because it had everything in it you needed for a movie. I never like pulp fiction because of John Travolta. I know some people would shoot me for saying that, but I just can't stand the guy.

more fire 10-16-2003 10:51 AM

pulp fiction. absolutely classic.

lordjeebus 10-16-2003 11:49 AM

pulp fiction is the only movie i could watch 10 or 50 times and not get tired of. other tarantino movies are great too though, just not as great.

Kyp 10-16-2003 01:16 PM

I voted Resevoir Dogs. I haven't seen Jackie Brown but I doubt that would change my opinion. I'm not a big Tarantino fan. Resevoir Dogs seemed like the only movie with a point, but that's just me.

ghezzo 10-16-2003 02:17 PM

Pulp Fiction without a doubt although its funny stumbled across this thread cuz in about 2 hours im gonna go see Kill Bill. Maybe ill have to come back and update my opinion but for now! definetly Pulp Fiction

bundy 10-16-2003 06:24 PM

ok, i am officially changing my vote.

i initially voted for Pulp Fiction, i´m now changing my mind and voting for Kill Bill.

i saw this yesterday, and was absolutely blown away.

Scipio 10-16-2003 06:26 PM

Pulp Fiction won best picture. It has Samuel L. Jackson. It has John Travolta. It has Uma Thurman. It's funny and freaking good. Top 3 of all time for me.

maximusveritas 10-16-2003 07:40 PM

Reservoir Dogs, no doubt about it. The only Tarantino film I like.

Derwood 10-17-2003 09:23 AM

Reservoir Dogs, though I haven't seen Kill Bill yet.

World's King 10-17-2003 10:34 AM

Reservoir Dogs.

"Are you gonna bark all day little doggie, or are you gonna bite?"

GSRIDER 10-17-2003 10:41 AM

I went w/ Pulp.... it was close between that and dogs.

And if you're gonna include From Dusk Til Dawn shouldn't Natural Born Killers be included?

I thought he did a large chunk of writing for that.

And Golden Girls

^Ice_Bat^ 10-17-2003 09:35 PM

Pulp fiction is definately the classic that will never die, although Kill Bill ranks a close second.

Loup 10-18-2003 03:12 AM

Pulp Fiction
Have not seen Kill Bill yet.
I have liked them all so far.

Stare At The Sun 10-18-2003 07:33 AM

Saw Kill Bill last night, though great, it is still not better than pulp.

Pulp>All

Porkchop 10-20-2003 02:32 AM

Very close but would say Dogs that one ive watched most on dvd anyway.

happymaan 11-12-2003 06:14 PM

I love Jackie Brown. The woman is so smart, sexy, and in control of everything.

I also love that she's black but they never make a big deal about that.

crow_daw 11-12-2003 08:17 PM

Well, I love Pulp Fiction, but I think that all of Tarantino's films are brilliant.

Kostya 11-13-2003 05:00 AM

I think it's only fair to go with Pulp Fiction here, though I feel that both Kill Bill and Resevoir Dogs are brilliant films.

Also, while I rate Kill Bill equally with Pulp Fiction, I think it's only fair to wait until Volume 2 is released next year before making any calls on it.

Tarantino rules though.

Aaron0000 11-13-2003 12:50 PM

It's a toss up between Pulp and Reservoir Dogs, but I think I will go with Reservoir Dogs.

hahaha 11-13-2003 12:52 PM

I'm leaning towards Kill Bill, but Ive got to see volume 2 first.

Esoteric 11-13-2003 01:07 PM

Pulp Fiction! Samuel L. Jackson was great in that film.

Spanky Johnson 11-15-2003 01:38 PM

I'd say Pulp Fiction by far, but I've really liked all his stuff. I haven't seen Kill Bill yet though. I could go see it tonight, but my wife wants to see "Love Actually" so I guess we'll be watching that. (grumble grumble).

I don't know what it is about Pulp Fiction or From Dusk to Dawn, but it seems like I wind up watching them just about every time they come on HBO or another movie channel. I guess I should buy the DVDs.

Arc101 11-15-2003 02:39 PM

I have to say Reservoir Dogs. I saw that at a film festival before any hype got to it, and it just blew me away. I love it when you go and see a film which hasn't been hyped and you come out thinking bloody hell that was brilliant.

jvwgtr 11-17-2003 10:12 AM

None of the others have come close to the impact Reservoir Dogs had on me, so I'm going with that one!

mb99usa 11-17-2003 10:47 AM

Can't believe I haven't posted in here yet. Gotta go with the first one I saw, Pulp Fiction.

Destrox 11-18-2003 12:47 PM

Resevior Dogs, I enjoyed that more then the others overall.

rogue49 11-18-2003 01:02 PM

From Dusk To Dawn
one of the few who did it seems.

I also enjoyed Kill Bill

but there's just too much fun in FD2D, and it's not too weird.
come on...just seeing Cheech's speech on pussy is a classic.

J-DaWg 11-18-2003 05:47 PM

Pulp Fiction ... once Vol2 for Kill Bill is out I believe I may have to change my answer .. Vol1 was an incredible flick, well worth the wait between films

GakFace 11-18-2003 06:47 PM

Pulp Fiction.. althought I have yet to see the second volume to Kill Bill... after I have seen the ENTIRE movie, not just half of it, things MAY change, but I think it'll be tough beating Pulp ;)... oh man.. please pardon that pun.. heh

jw_toyboy 11-18-2003 09:37 PM

Cant beat Pulp Fiction.

Jules: Whoa... whoa... whoa... stop right there. Eatin' a bitch out, and givin' a bitch a foot massage ain't even the same fuckin' thing.
Vincent: Not the same thing, but it's the same ballpark.
Jules: It ain't no fuckin' ballpark either. Look maybe your method of massage differs from mine, but touchin' a lady's feet, and stickin' your tongue in her holiest of holies, ain't the same fuckin ballpark, it ain't the same league, it ain't even the same fuckin' sport. Foot massages don't mean shit.

Vincent: And you know what they call a... a... a Quarter Pounder with Cheese in Paris?
Jules: They don't call it a Quarter Pounder with cheese?
Vincent: No man, they got the metric system. They wouldn't know what the fuck a Quarter Pounder is.
Jules: Then what do they call it?
Vincent: They call it a "Royale" with cheese.
Jules: A "Royale" with cheese! What do they call a Big Mac?
Vincent: A Big Mac's a Big Mac, but they call it "le Big-Mac".
Jules: "Le Big-Mac"! Ha ha ha ha! What do they call a Whopper?
Vincent: I dunno, I didn't go into Burger King.

Butch: You okay?
Marsellus: Naw man. I'm pretty fuckin' far from okay!
Butch: What now?
Marsellus: What now? Well let me tell you what now. I'm gonna call a couple of pipe-hittin' niggers, who'll go to work on homes here with a pair of pliers and a blow torch. Hear me talkin' hillbilly boy? I ain't through with you by a damn sight. I'm gonna get medieval on your ass.

Vincent: That's a pretty fucking good milkshake. I don't know if it's worth five dollars but it's pretty fucking good.

Esmeralda: What is your name?
Butch: Butch.
Esmeralda: What does it mean?
Butch: I'm American, honey. Our names don't mean shit.

Jimmie: Now let me ask you a question, Jules. When you drove in here, did you notice a sign out in front that said, "Dead nigger storage"?
Jules: Jimmie...
Jimmie: Answer the question! Did you see a sign out in front of my house that said "Dead nigger storage"?
Jules: Naw man, I didn't.
Jimmie: You know why you didn't see that sign?
Jules: Why?
Jimmie: 'Cause storin' dead niggers ain't my fuckin' business!

portwineboy 11-18-2003 10:26 PM

I said Kill Bill for my vote.

I liked Four Rooms (I have a promotional front desk bell right next to me!) but thought it lacked verve.

Pulp Fiction, R-Dogs, two of my favorite movies. Killing Zoe, Dusk Till Dawn I liked as well. Kill Bill tho...for me, Vol 1 stands on its own. Can't wait for 2.

31Friction 11-18-2003 11:17 PM

pulp fiction, hands down...

MahlerIsGod 11-19-2003 12:00 AM

Should we even count "From Dusk Till Dawn." Technically, Robert Rodriguez directed the movie. Quentin only co-wrote (if that, I heard the other guy Kurtman or something like that did the majority of the writing because Quentin was already working on Jackie Brown) and acted in the movie. Personally, I voted for Pulp Fiction. Not only his best movie but one of the finest movies of the 20th century. I could watch the final scene in the diner all day. Watching Sam Jackson perform, talking to Tim Roth is like watching Itzhak Perlman play his violin or Pablo Picasso paint. Its art. The fact that he was robbed of his Oscar for the performance was and is a travesty second only to Oscar that wasn't bestowed upon Peter O'Toole for Lawrence of Arabia. Sam deserved that Oscar.

sleepingbeauty 11-19-2003 10:58 AM

Pulp fiction, because I can recite the lines.

but they're all great

He actually put "Taratino's Fourth Film" on Kill Bill, and that should mean something definitive to all those in question.

Reservoir Dogs
Pulp Fiction
Jackie Brown
Kill Bill: Vol. 1

As for me, Pulp Fiction is one of the best movies ever. It's a fuckin classic. Samuel L. Jackson was, is, and always will be the fuckin MAN. It's so incredibly written and directed, and it lives to infinity. I can't watch it enough.

Great thread.

hu-man 11-23-2003 09:35 AM

I voted for Reservoir Dogs. I really like the acting and dialogue in that one.
Actually I've seen all of his movies without having a clue what they were about. That has been some great experiences!
The first of his movies I saw was Pulp Fiction. I was 15 years old when I saw it, and I had no idea what it was about. I was amazed, it was so cool.
But I'll always have a thing for From Dusk Till Dawn. I went to see this movie alone, some afternoon. Only thing I had heard about it was: "it's cool".
And that's what I thought it was, cool movie about some guys on the run, lots of shooting and cars. Then all hell broke loose. I had NO idea that THAT was going to happen! Suddenly vampires all over the place, sexy dancing, blood, crosses. And I was around 16 years old - the best experience of those years.
Jackie Brown was alright, cool music, but not a movie I'll see again and again.
And I can't wait to see Kill Bill vol. 2, there was something good about that movie - buried underneath all the overly done violence (like seeing that girls brain)

Snakebyt 11-23-2003 02:38 PM

i went with Pulp Fiction, but Jackie Brown is a close second for me

Not overly done violence, but perfectly done violence.

Well, most of the violence was great, yes. But some shots were just to please the 14-year-olds, in my opinion. They did nothing to enhance the scene, and we just gratuitous. Especially the scene with the scalping, and the brain showing. Hannibal did the same, lots of girls screamed "gross" but it just looked stupid and too much.

TheShadow 11-24-2003 11:18 PM

Pulp Fiction... hands down. Can't forget the Ezekiel Speech by Samuel L. Jackson!

Cycler 11-25-2003 08:51 PM

Pulp Ficxtion, it introduced to Tarantino's works.

rider6061 11-26-2003 01:21 PM

Haven't seen Kill Bill, but I have seen the all of the others.

I love Pulp, but my fav has to be Resevoir Dogs.

Bob Biter 11-26-2003 03:00 PM

Pulp Fiction.

It was a close call between that and Reservoir Dogs, since both films amply have what Tarantino excels at: great dialogue and plot.

After seeing Kill Bill vol.1 I sure as hell hope that vol.2 will be good, because the first part was all fight scenes, no dialogue of worth. That's why I was pissed that he split the thing in two. Maybe seeing volumes 1 and 2 as a complete unit would make it better than Pulp Fiction, but that second part would have to be epic to do so.

"I used the same fucking soap you did and when I was finished my towel didn't look like no goddamn Maxi Pad!"

How could you NOT love that!

RemyLebeau97 12-04-2003 03:12 PM

I have no favorite, I love every single one of Tarantino's films, one's I currently own are Pulp Fiction, From Dusk til Dawn, Reservoir Dogs, I need to pick up Jackie Brown then Kill Bill and I'll have hiz collection.

Evil Milkman 12-04-2003 07:51 PM

I voted Pulp Fiction, but as others here have stated, I LOVED Kill Bill: Volume I but will need to wait for Volume II before I can make a final decision. Speaking of which, who else can't wait until February?

^dude 12-05-2003 09:17 AM

Pulp Fiction probably

Chilly McFreeze 12-09-2003 07:11 AM

Pulp Fiction, but I haven't seen Kill Bill yet.

Sho Nuff 12-09-2003 09:30 AM

Im a big fan of Samurai flicks so Kill Bill was more of a campy comedy parody than an action flick in my book *even though I feel like a pedophile for my big crush on Go-Go*

Pulp Fiction is definately the best of the bunch. True Romance is one of my favorite movie's ever though just because it never went like you expected it to.

doodah 12-09-2003 04:00 PM

i oved from dusk till dawn the titty twister ruled and it was a great movie to watch with friends

Cherry 12-10-2003 05:35 AM

Of those listed, I went with Pulp Fiction.

Personal favorite, though, is Tarantino's room in Four Rooms.

chingador 12-10-2003 10:07 PM

I'm gonna have to go with Reservoir Dogs on this one. I've always been a huge fan of Pulp Fiction, but I kinda grew sick of it with all the hype surrounding it. Reservoir Dogs is just quality Tarantino - its slick, yet gritty, and has a mind-boggling soundtrack.

sherpahigh 01-03-2004 03:46 PM

Looks like this is a landslide victory for Pulp but I threw my vote up for Reservoir Dogs. Pulp Fiction is a close second for me but you just can't beat his first effort. Reservoir Dogs is such an amazing movie you just gotta love it.

high_way 01-06-2004 03:19 AM

i chose kill bill over pulp fiction because i LOVE the martial arts fighting themes, and when she goes to get the her sword (i cant remember the name of the guy who made it).

i am ashamed to say i havent seen reservoir dogs yet but hvae heard a lot about it and from reading this it is worth the hype.

MexicanOnABike 01-08-2004 07:20 PM

i just got true romance on DVD... pretty good. pulp fiction is still the master.
