How much I like a Spielberg film is proportional to how much of that movie involves people running around (chasing, being chased, escaping things, etc.). It is also inversely proportional to how emotional Spielberg tries to make things -- I like emotional movies in general but when I watch Spielberg I feel like he's trying to hard to manipulate my reaction.

My favorites are the Indiana Jones movies and Minority Report. I respect Schindler's List but am not really a fan.

That's right, he did direct Hook, didn't he. Hook was pretty cool but i wouldn't say it was my favorite though.

I loved Always, so that has to be up there. Also include Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Close Encounters. Hard to choose between those three.

Meh!...not a huge fan of Speilberg.

Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List were both great films.

The rest lie between reasonable, and completly forgetable.

In A.I. you could just see that he was simply WAAAY out of his league.

Really couldn't stand AI. Only movie I can that about of his though. Minority Report was excellent regardless of the fact that it had Tom Cruise, who generally I've not been impressed with.

Well I have a few things against Spielberg, but quite frankly when you're talking Speilberg, you can go on about his less the brilliant attempts at serious cinema such as Saving Private Ryan and Amistad. He did make Schindler's List, and that is a classic, but apart from that I don't really think he has the ability to have a non-happy ending, even when dealing with something like AI, where we're talking about the horrors of existential dread.

As a children's movie maker, he is awesome. Hook is wicked, and also another film which apparently Yahoo doesn't recognise: GOONIES...

I mean come on, that movie was awesome.

Hook was great too.

Probably SPR. Lots of people like to harp on it, but it was the first truly realistic (in the sense of showing combat) war movie to be released. I also think its a damn good movie in its own right.

Schindlers List is also a wonderful movie.

Tough choice, but I'm going with Raiders of the Lost Ark.

While I would have a hard time calling it his 'best' movie. It would have to be the one that I most enjoy watching. Therefore, my favorite.
