New Coupling
i am appaled at this new series that has appeared on NBC. it is called coupling. for some of u who dont know, it is a bad rip off of a british masterpiece called coupling. this NBC version degrades this once fine show by turnin it into another friends. when will the maddness end? for those of u who havent seen the orignal, please dl it or the first season is available for purchase and write ur feed back. i wanna see if maybe i have just done too much shit lately and have fryed my brain or if this is really happenin and i am not the only one that sees that. i see the future of american television is bleak and disgustin and if this is what NBC has to offer. Then i say sod them all and i hope they go to hell before they destroy another good show--ritkio

I never saw the British version. I watched the first episode. I thought it was a bunch of short little jokes about sex randomly spliced together. I'm glad it's bad; I don't need another show to watch on Thursday night.

Buy the UK Series One DVD. Trust me, you'll be doing yourself a favor. The BBC version is AMAZINGLY funny, and continues to amuse me after repeated viewings (including the series two and three shows as well)
I'm happy that the NBC version is so crappy. I don't think I can live with myself if it wasn't crappy enough and stayed on the air.

Successful British comedies are always trying to be remade in the US, and they all suck! Why bother messing with the original??!
It is impossible to remake a comedy that is better or even equal to the original

i'm generally in agreement with the above.
the uk's coupling was pure gold, i see no reason to redo it. i simply won't watch the american version. i've seen too much other american-made garbage to beleive that they can make a decent comedy for prime-time viewing anymore.

But the female lead (Ashley Williams) is really cute and charming. That's really the only explanation I can think of, because that show is bland and tired.

Guess I am against the crowd a bit on this one. I have never seen the British Version and usually I can't stand their programming. (I hate Monty Python, please don't ban me!)
I enjoyed Coupling...wasn't the best new show by far, but it had it's moments. |

For those of you searching for the British version of Coupling, check our either BBC America on satellite or perhaps, your local PBS station. WTTW in Chicago is showing it at 10 P.M. on Sunday nights (at least, I think it's Sunday's)
The difference between the two shows? The British version is more risque. The episode I saw, two of the male characters went into an adult bookstore. You could see dildos and vibrators in the background. I doubt NBC would let that happen. Support the arts, donate to Public Television!

The British version is great. Its hilarious and has 3 chicks I'd like to bang. And the actor who plays Jeff on the British version could never be copied, he's just too out there. Actually I haven't watched the one on NBC, I just can't imagine its worth the time to sit through it.
