Angel Season 5
So Angel: Season 5 starts up Wednesday on the WB. I happened to acquire work prints of the first two episodes and after watching them I must say this season looks to be great. Just wondering if anyone else had seen these? Or, in a few days this can be the official discussion thread for the new season! :)
I won't give any thoughts except I loved the first two episodes. After Wednesday I might talk about the first episode. |
I've not had the opporunity to look for screeners this year... but I'm looking forward to seeing just what happens.
|
Yeah, I think Angel will only be stronger because of the death of Buffy. More writers and crew coming over and Joss will have more time to work on it.
Looking forward to seeing it back on. |
/me releases inner geek
I can't wait. I've been watching since ep1. I just hope the wife remembers to hit record every wednesday. Damn school. |

Also (as someone mentioned on the TiVo boards), there's a baseball conflict in some areas over the next two weeks, and Angel will be shown AFTER the game. Set your recordings accordingly. |
BTW, for those who don't know, here is some cool spoily type stuff....
Spoilers ahead, don't read: Spike is back. Don't ask me how or why, but Spike will at least be putting in a few cameo's this season. You may return to your regular thread type stuff. Veritas en Lux! Jimmy The Hutt |

Great beginning!!! could have been better I'm sure... but well done especially since it was written and directed by Joss. |
good start to the season...a little tough to follow the whole law firm angle, but really sucked me in...haven't watched it in a couple of years but now that Spike is coming over I'm there every week!
|
I am most pissed right now. I tried to get my tardo room mate to TiVo the season premiere. What does he get for me? Some stupid syndication on season pass. Does anyone mind ruining it for me? I really wanna know how this season started. Thanks in advance!

SPOILER from http://tvtome.com/Angel/season5.html
Season 5 89. Conviction gs: Mercedes McNab (Harmony Kendall) Jonathan M. Woodward (Knox) Sarah Thompson (Eve) James Marsters (Spike) Rodney Rowland (Corbin Fries) After settling into his new office at Wolfram & Hart (with Harmony as his secretary), Angel meets a young woman named Eve, who claims that she is the new liaison between him and the Senior Partners. She explains that in order for him to do good in LA, he will have to be prepared to do some bad too. Angel is forced to prevent a criminal from going to jail, when he threatens to drop a chemical warfare virus, that could ultimately destroy California. Meanwhile, Gunn impresses a court full of people, when it is revealed that Wolfram & Hart have bestowed him with a vast knowledge of the law. As Angel enters his office at the end of the day, he finds an envelope on his desk. He opens it and the Sunnydale amulet falls out, it begins to spin round until a screaming Spike is released. b: 01-Oct-2003 pc: 5ADH01 w: Joss Whedon d: Joss Whedon NOTE: Charisma Carpenter and Vincent Kartheiser have been removed from the opening credits. This episode marks the first time Joss Whedon has written and directed the season premiere since the pilot. Angel moves out of the Hyperion hotel after 3 years of living there with the rest of AI. Mercedes McNab reprises her role as Harmony after being told to leave by Cordelia at the end of 2x17 'Disharmony'. James Marsters appears on Angel for the first time (not including flashbacks) since 1x3 'In The Dark' David Boreanaz is now the only remaining original Angel cast member. Cordelia is mentioned: When Harmony asks where she is, Angel replies "Coma" and the conversation continues as normal. Connor is mentioned: After Angel is in distress after hearing about how Corbin Fries put the virus in his own son, Eve mentions how Connor has no memory of his real life, and that Angel is the only one that remembers him. Houser's attack team use combat knives made from wood, and carry flasks of holy water. Eve says how Wolfram & Hart is a multi-dimensional corporation, and so not just based on earth. James Marsters has been added to the opening credits. A lot of TV guide's listed this episode as "Part 1" of the season opener. Angel doesn't have his hair spiked anymore. This is the first time he's had a major change to his haircut, in anything other than flashbacks. It's been spiked since Season 1 of Buffy! Now he wears it down, but he of course still uses plenty of that "nancy boy hair gel he likes sooo much" |
ok Eve=hotness omfg
as for Angel season 5 - I think someone told Joss that he had something that worked, so he decided to change it completely. IE Buffy season 4 or 'Hush' itself. I loved it. the Sacrifice hotline... ottter... i loved it. (not a fan of the new hair tho Angel) |
Harmony will be the new Andrew, everything she says is hilarious. The new direction they seem to be taking Gunn in has a ton of interesting possibilities. To clear up any confusion, Spike is a regular cast member and will be in every episode this season.
|
Gracias for the info, folks.
It makes me happy to see James Marsters again. He was the real reason I started watching Buffy in the first place. Veritas en Lux! Jimmy The Hutt |
Spike has to be the coolest guy in the WHOLE world.
|
Just wanted to bump my thread and see what everyone thought of tonight's episode and the revealed 'twist' for Spike's role in the show so far :)
|
it was good.... still doesn't give up too much as to how Spike will evolve.
what's bugging me is that fact that David B. put on a good amount of weight during hiatus. Bugs me since vamps aren't supposed to change....but okay. I'll start to overlook it. |
it's finally winding down... the episode from this week was eh... I still don't see just what kind of whirlwind exciting series ender they can have...
|
I really liked the episode (really funny at times) but I didn't like it's timing in the season. If this episode had happened midseason, it would have been great. I just expect more from a series that is going off the air after 2 more episodes.
The whole cookie dough thing was great. |
It could be our cookie dough. . .
Ok - so I am secretly gay for watching Angel. Sue me. Either way, does anyone remember when Pam woke up and took a shower and the whole previous season was a dream and Bobby was still alive? Then again, I imagine that anyone else who would understand wtf I am talking about would be too old to watch Angel. Either way - the whole Conner thing this season was totally weak. I hope they make the ending compelling. |
