Rank Network TV

Hi all,

Ok for those of you that are in the US, I want you to rank the following tv networks in order of how much you watch it. Please only based on the prime time shows. I.E. if the WB has 2 eps of rerun simpsons on it, it doesn't count. We are only talking about the prime time first-run shows.
These are the networks:
 • ABC
 • NBC
 • FOX
 • CBS
 • WB
 • UPN

Please also list why. Here is mine:

1st - NBC: Its hard to go against great shows like Friends, Frasier, Scrubs, Will & Grace, etc.

2nd - WB: Many weak shows in my opinion, but it does have its few good shows that let it place higher, such as 7th Heaven and Smallville.

3rd - FOX: I have always loved the Simpsons, so FOX has got to be ranked in the top 3. It also has other descent shows, such as Futurama (from the makers of the Simpsons), Malcolm In The Middle, and of course Boston Public.

4th - UPN: Not that great, but has one show that I just love. I am a big Star Trek fan, and UPN has "Enterprise" the 5th Star Trek Series. However, other than that show, this network has nothing else to offer.

5th - ABC: To be totally honest I really don't watch any shows on this network except for MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL. There is no way this Network could be last, when it gives me my football fix during the week.

6th - CBS: Honestly I almost NEVER watch this network. I think all the shows on this network are really bad.

Now I am curious to know everyone elses

I'm not American, but where is PBS?

That channel always seems to produce really good shows.

Well to be honest PBS is not really considered a prime time TV Network. I agree that they have educational shows, but not quite the same thing as "prime time tv". Hopefully some people here will post their opinions.

1) NBC (Damn them and their million Law & Order series)
2) ABC (Monday Night Football, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and a few series)
3) Fox (very entertaining shows. Absolutely zero educational value, but very entertaining)
4) CBS (Football, and occasionally CSI)

And that's it, WB and UPN get zero air time in my house.

The Scotsman fished the fly out of his beer and continued drinking it, as if nothing had happened. The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!"

Really quick, I don't think I mentioned it in the original post, but all the weekend programming such as NFL, college football, basketball, etc., does not count for the network. The reason I am posting a quote of yours is because under CBS you put football, but they don't really have football as prime time tv programming. only Monday Night Football counts, because it is meant to be prime time TV. Thanks.

Thanks for the clarification.

I tend to prefer factual, educational shows to prime TV "fluff."

Having said that, I do very much like the show Law and Order.

Friends used to be entertaining, but to be honest it really has gone down hill the past few years. I can't even sit through an entire episode. I like Malcolm in the Middle, but I hate Will & Grace and King of Queens.

Shit... I watch too much crappy TV!

Mr Mephisto

PS - As a non-American, I'm listing shows rather than channels, as I have no idea where the programmes originate.

Well if you can I recomend watching Friends this season. I know it has gotten kind of dull lately, but this is the FINAL season, and for someone who has been keeping up with it, I am sure they will want to know how it all ends. The season primiere is this Thursday. Maybe you can get to watch it some how, not sure how it works in Australia.

Cool thanks for the response, just one quick thing. Drew Carey is an ABC show, just an FYI.

I've got no favorite...

CBS is a cousin of MTV since it's now a Viacom outlet, as is UPN.

Since the media outlets are all gentrified now, I tend to look at it from across the media board... note how something on CBS, crosses other Viacom products like MTV/VH1 and vice versa.

Well, the occasional CSI is still more airtime than the WB and UPN combined so the ranking is still good.

NBC I like The West Wing and Law and Order. I don't usually watch sitcoms, but I do kinda like Scrubs.
