The Stupidity that is FOX
We all know FOX has cancelled shows for some retarded reason or another, but do you think they will continue this trend or break through this year?
|
They will continue the trend.
|
What new shows are on FOX now that aren't worth being cancelled?
|
The OC.
|
the got the shitty shows on and the good ones cancelled.
and they're brining more and more shitty trailer trash stuff. |
Really, they need to cancel Fox News. Then maybe they would be FAIR AND BALANCED.
|
Er...FOX News isn't on FOX, it's on Cable.
But cancelling Family Guy and Dark Angel are just some of the bad moves... |
Dark Angel was a crappy show, but it did have jessica alba in it.
|
add john doe and futurama to the list of good shows that they cancelled.
and wtf did they replace it with ? BANZAI?? what the FUCK? what they hell are the newscorp exec's smokin? |
And Banzai is already off the air.... Smooth move Fox!
|
Yes. Banzai is being replaced with Futurama re-runs!
|
Family Guy was freakin' hilarious. I can't believe they cancelled that one. Wasn't it nominated for an emmy?

No arguments with the general consensus here. They had THE funniest show on TV, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, and cancelled it not once, but twice. Not even a set of reruns, and what did it get replaced with, Oliver Beene? No big loss, but I notice they're not running that anymore, either.
|
i miss Millenium..
|
The OC won't be cancelled. It's their new 90210.
And everyone cancels their animated shows, because they don't do as well. (Family Guy was only producing Half-seasons for a while before it got cancelled) Although they all seem to be insanely popular w/ every forum crowd I have seen :p |

Let me think - my favorite shows of the past 10 years: Andy Richter, Greg The Bunny, Futurama, The Tick, Family Guy - all canceled within a year (except for Futurama's delayed cancellation).
Fox gave us some of the best shows - & took them away from us - fuckers. |
Hrmm, I really liked banzai :(
|
Apparently Fox is using a business model that doesn't include airing shows that don't make money. Go figure.
|
The trend of cancelling shows will continue for Fox when they keep putting on crappy shows in place of good ones.
Correct me if I am wrong, but hasn't every new show for Sunday night on Fox already been cancelled/didn't last longer than half a season? (The Pitts, Oliver Bean, Banzai, etc) Morons at Fox should have never cancelled Andy Richter |
i'm guessing that the fan response will one day sway fox in making more intelligent decisions. but that day seems very far away...
|
Seems to me that it all went downhill somewhere between Family Guy being canceled and the X Files leaving.
I didn't even watch Family Guy until the very end of it's run, but wish I had. |
I think the OC sucks. Cancel that too
|
Millennium rules! I adored the first season, the show I always jokingly referred to as "the most depressing show on network television" back in 1998. Lance Hendrikson and Robert Stack had that deadpan monotone authority voice thing going.
Lone Gunmen, Firefly, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, Futurama, Family Guy...they're right up there with ABC in cancelling promising series. |
At least they haven't screwed up completely and The Shield is still going strong (at least as far as I know).
|
FOX wants another Simpsons in terms of ratings for its animated programs it would seem. The Family Guy and Futurama are both far superior IMO to the new Simpsons episodes - but they don't reach the mass market because they aren't as accessible.
Does anyone have any figures on the actual ratings these shows did receive? |
FYI - Family Guy had finished producing new episodes at least a year before it went off the air. They just played every episode they could until they ran out.
I'm pretty sure that the Family Guy staff pulled their own plug. FOX didn't cancel them |
CANELLING FIREFLY!!!!!!!! STUPID WHY STUPID STUPID WHY!?!?!?!?
To all FireFly fans out there: Buy the DVD's in December!!!!! Help Joss get his movie!!! |
Nobody mentioned Fast Lane?
That show rocked! I really really enjoyed it. Oh well. |

"Nielsen Media Research" is no better then asking 10 people on the street. They have around 50K boxes out at one time and then just extrapolate out the numbers. So take the total and divide by like 10,000 that is how many in there tiny pool watched the show. All of there ratings are bullshit and might as well be pulled out of your ass.
Sadly the suits seem to think they are the word of god or some shit... |
Statistically speaking, 50k people should be enough to overcome many biases in the data, I think? While not a huge % of the whole, its still a large population. I'm not sure how the Nielsen ratings work, but if the 50k boxes are distributed in some kind of random sample then the numbers when extrapolated should be relatively accurate. Surely not a perfect system, but what is there that could be better?
To have all new TVs coming out monitor (if its even possible) what shows you watch without any volunteer program could likely be considered an invasion of privacy. |
tidus that was funny
you know they still have the simposons |
They just moved 'Boston Public' to Fridays, along with 'Wanda At Large'.
Goodbye shows, you got screwed by a FOX. |
I still hold a grudge from when FOX canceled The Critic and The Tick way back when
lets not even mention Futurama and Family Guy it becomes a love/hate thing cuz they give me the best animated shows and then they snatch them away from me. |

If they would leave a show in one time slot and let it build an audience, there'd be no problems. All the moving around, especially around the Simpsons (great lead in), tends to frustrate people. My son just bought Family Guy on DVD. That's probably the only way to go these days.
|
Fox cancelled Family Guy. Enough said.
