25th Hour w/ Edward Norton
Just rented it. Has Edward Norton as a drug dealer who gets busted and about to go to jail. Although slow at times i really enjoyed it and especially liked the ending. Anyone else see it?
It is a well done movie. Norton as always, did a great job with his character. I agree with the slow parts, but overall, it was a good movie.
I love this movie. "There are slow parts" would be a valid complaint if it were a summer action movie, but it's not. It is a serious, in-depth character study. I think Spike Lee and Norton should get together again sometime in the future. Powerfull stuff.

before i whatched this movie i had no idea about what it was about, i enjoyed it alot. edward norton is great
the scene where they messed his face up was quite disturbing though |
one of my favorite movies of the year. very very very good
I loved it, the mirror scene was amazing.
Fuck You....no fuck you. I have to agree that mirror scene was amazing. I had to go back and look at it again. i think i will be buying this movie.
I didn't like this movie that much. Philip Seymour Hoffman and Ed Norton were great but it felt mostly anti-climactic. Monty kept saying he had to do one last thing and it leads to his getting smacked around in a park? The 9/11 material seemed tacked on and the father's "plan" was just hokey. Spike Lee knows good music though, and the Cymande was a nice choice. Has anyone read the book?
EN = my fave actor ever. he really impressed me in Primal Fear, then the People VS Larry Flynt, and theeeeeeeeen American History X. i was sold on him that day.:)
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The only part I DIDN'T like was the mirror scene. All of my friends who have seen and liked the movie loved that scene. I just thought it was goofy. The rest of the movie I thought was great.
thought it was okay, memorable moments was the mirror scene and the final scene showing what life could be like
call me slow, but i didn't really "get" the ending. i'm okay with it not being clear if norton ran or went in, but i just didn't feel like the ending took me anywhere.
the 9/11 material was hard to work through-i think that spike made the mistake of letting his deep reaction to the events make him forget any context in including what he did. this will age the movie a lot faster...there will be people who won't recogize ground zero, etc...in future days. i just think that he may regret the way he dealt with those issues as time passes. Anna Paquin really steals the show in many ways...which was good, becuase the pace was really lagging by that point. |
For the record, he did go to prison at the end.
Anna Paquin was great in this movie though. I have to agree with you there. |
I have just got this movie so will give it a watch see what its like.
i really enjoyed the movie a lot.
it's very un-Spike Lee in my opinion. Norton is excellent in the movie. i also enjoyed the ending a lot. the "what if ... " factor, how his life could have been. i think I would have run for it. One of my favourite sneak previews this year. |
I enjoyed the movie but they were way too misleading with the ending. Edward Norton is one of my favorite actors ever, if not my favorite so that may have influenced my decision. There isn't one movie that Edward Norton was in that I disliked, although they came close with the Italian Job.
The movie is preachy at times, too long at times and too full of stereotyped rage at times....in other words, it's a Spike Lee movie.
At 1:50, it's a great movie, unfortunately it goes for about 2:15. Edward Norton is an incredible actor, but someone needs to teach Spike that the delete button is not a bad thing. |
