Have you ever had any of your work published?

Have any of you ever written anything that has been published in a magazine/journal or any other source?

Perhaps you wrote a novel that is in bookstores now?

I would be interestd to see if anyone has, and what they have had published, as I picture that as being quite an accomplishment, given the amount of articles that must get submitted to journals and such each month.

Depends on what you mean, really...I've had essays and book reviews see print, but I don't really think of that as published (they weren't really self-generated creative pieces). I've also had creative works published in tiny journals/zines, but that doesn't strike me as published, either (too small, maybe). What would you consider "published"?

I should point out that I don't think that something needs to be printed by a major magazine or book company to be "published"--the whole point of many zines/journals is to avoid the major presses in favor of the DIY approach, the point being that photocopied zines are just as legitimately literary as something put out by Random House. (More so, maybe.) It's all words on paper, ultimately. So if you want to publish something, there's probably a copy shop near you: have at it. You're as published as Stephen King, as far as I'm concerned; the difference is one of degree.

I've written several articles/reviews for various publications which include an interview with Smashing Pumpkins (circa Machina) and Killing Heidi (prior to flopping).

I've also done reviews on Books and such before they get released to the mass market which was kinda cool since I got the Fourth Harry Potter book and the two Supplemental Guides a month before all the screaming little kiddies waited out at 12am to get their copies.

I'm currently writing several novels for personal entertainment but once refined and perfected I hope to get them published, one can only hope that day shall come.

I have had a number of my photographs published. They've been in one book, two newspapers, and on one CD cover. Also not really the same, but I've had two solo gallery shows. I can't really write, draw, or paint, so I express myself with my camera.

I've had a number of articles, letters, and reviews "published" in different magazines and newspapers.

Also, I had some poetry published in different literary magazines.

But, as far as any major work, I am currently in the works with a publisher on my first book. It's finally gotten to the point where I feel that this might actually see the light of day. We've (I'm the co-author) told two others that had shown interest that we are going to go with this publisher. I'm really excited at this point. Everything's been happening much faster than we were told to expect it to.

I was going to get published when I was in high school, but my teacher hated me. I was stupid enough to believe she would actually send it to the publisher. Other teachers even came up to congratulate me, teachers I didn't even know.

Suddenly the deadline for the anthology went by, and I didn't get any invitation to the publisher's party. I had been notified before, that this would happen.

My teacher told me she had no idea what happened to my short story, even though she had promised to take care of it. And then she smiled at me.

Don't worry, I had a realistic world view already before it happened, so it didn't really damage me that bad. Apart from me giving up writing for a while.
