Definitely with Yoda and MSD... its all about the Sun Crusher. It can take out an entire solar system, yet its still small enough to deal with small fighters. And the whole invulnerable thing doesn't hurt, either.

People keep bringing up the death star... the death star sucked! It got taken out by a light fighter! I want a ship that can take some hits, and still keep kickin'.

Out of the available choices, I'd definitely have to go with the Lexx. It's just that cool...

But what about any of the Honor Harrington ships? The Benjamin the Great class Superdreadnaugt ships would do some major damage to most of the ships in this list. Being over 4,200 meters in length and with that arsenal, I think tha it would win.

But if I had to pick from the list...I'd say the Lexx

How are those Honor Harrington Books? I've never read them, but i have read and liked all the David Weber, Steve White collaborations - (Shiva Option, Insurrection, Crusade, and In Death Ground)

The Vorlon planet killer is the most powerful ship in sci-fi by far.



Organic technology (a living ship) 6-7km across its y axis 42-58km long and wipes out planets with one shot, plus needs a fleet of "first ones" ships to destroy it as is uses bio tech defenses that learns every time it is hit and adapts.

My thoughts exactly.

I chose Galactica over the Lexx because I think the crew is innovative and talented enough to achieve more than the Lexx ever could. I bet the crew could even find a way to destroy the Lexx, either directly or indirectly.

Being able to launch those Vipers and Raptors is definitely an advantage.

First time I have seen this thread.
No clue what the Lexx is without a google search (just did a google search & found a wikipedia page to a series I have never heard at all, something about a sexual themed sci-fi show)
the ship from Battle Star Galactica was impressive in the original series, no clue how is it is the new one - but take away the support ships and the aircraft carrier will eventually go down, albeit at a possibly high price
No clue about the Endeavour as well, all that means to me is the wooden ships, the recent shuttle craft and a certain class of ships from Star Trek

Going with the Borg Cube, any of the Enterprises shown for more than five seconds or in any detail would lose badly against it.

if the list is for 'Space Stations', then cover the exposed exhaust port with a grill and change to a much smaller opening and I would choose the death star.
edit: but Terok Nor/DS9 is a much more grungy and vribrant character overall in my opinion

Hey, sorry to be geeky, but you folks said ship, NOT CREW! Lexx wins hands down.
Lexx had scrotum fluff for a crew and is still considered 1st or 2nd on this list.

For this thread to be any more than simply a spewing of different ship names, there needs to be some kind of criteria set to the ultra subjective term "powerful". Any ship that can time travel has universe-ending potential. That seems pretty "powerful" to me.

All they had to do is put some grating to cover up those exhaust tubes on the Death Star.

But noooooooooooooooooooooooo, some stupid bureaucrat in the Imperial High Command had to go bitching about cost overruns. I told him don't worry about that shit, Vader would sign off on it, but then he started crying about how the last time he brought it up to him he got the invisible choke hand. I told him to man the fuck up next time, but he's too much of a wuss.

And now look what happened. Maybe they'll listen to me next time.

Well, this shoul beat everything imaginable. Size is not always important.

The Borg Cube over all, more sinister than the Lexx, it can be hooked up in series, and overwhelm anything. yes, it can be defeated, but so can the death star (which is technically not a ship as pointed out). For pure single minded take-overness, the cube is a bitch.

Even more powerful than the mighty guild ships, or the jihad ships.

Actually, it was a bit more difficult than that. Some of the higher-ups were going on about how the parts were on a long-term backorder out on Druckenwell in the Doldur Sector. It would only have been a cost overrun if they rush-ordered the parts or got them from somewhere else.

Speaking only for myself, I was never really distracted by the scifi tech in Dune. The story, the characters, the philosophy and religion, etc. all kept my attention so well, it seemed the scifi tech was really only an afterthought.

Some science fiction stories require interesting tech to draw people in. Dune was a space opera first and a science fiction second.

Indeed. I think that's one of the reasons that no one has been able to bring it to the big screen, is simply because it is so nuanced, and those nuances are lost when translated to film.

As for the OP, F-it. I'll take a fleet of Star Destroyers for the win.

Seems like it is a 1 trick pony to me, kinda like the deathstar.

Zonama Sekot was deathstar-esque but more of a creator than a destroyer. It could produce it's own smaller ships to do a lot of the fighting, but in essence it was a planet and a ship. It even had it's own hyper drive. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Zonama_Sekot

I've done the first part of the series about 3 times (the first 3 books that is) and the rest of them have had a couple of read throughs. Unfortunately, I misplaced my Chapterhouse, which I want to re-read before attempting the next two (hunters & sandworms). I did read through all of the Preludes & Legends as well. The backstories are fun, if not as poignant as the originals.
