Andy Richter, definitely. I don't think I've ever seen something with so much potential get swatted down so fast. Except the live-action Tick, maybe.
Nobody probably remembers or cares about this one, but I really used to like Buddy Faro. He was played by Dennis Farina, and he was this lounge-lizard type detective who spent the last 30 years drunk in Mexico, and consequently hadn't changed much from the swinging daddy-o type of guy he used to be back in the day. Great show, lots of style.

Ooooooooooooh, you just had to ask.
King Arthur and the knights of justice (all time favorite) Phantom 2040 (very cool) The Tick (hilarious) Sonic the hedgehog (the original series which aired on channel 8) Going around the twist (weird britain/australian show that made me laugh) Street Sharks (somewhat miss) X-men - marvel style was the best; can not be replaced by "evolution"; though it is alright, i.e: Kitty/ShadowCat for obvious reasons Iron man The Incredible Hulk Bots Master (You got to be old to know this one ) Biker Mice from Mars (You got to be old and have a really good memory just to picture this one.) Aladdin VR Troopers Half the decent Power Rangers Series, i.e: The Green Ranger - Tommy with his dagger/flute. *Dooooo, do do, do do.*- flute sound. Mummies alive Gargoyles (I miss you Lexington. ) Exo-squad (Dare I say, THE BEST SHOW I EVER SAW!) Knight Rider (Kit you shall always live on in my heart. ) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Donatello was my hero.) Tiny Toon Adventures (so much silliness. "Water go down the hole!" - baby Plucky Duck) Tazmania Eeek! the cat The Terrible Thunderlizards Life with Louie (You know why. It's Louie Anderson; what's not to love.) Mega Man (the adventures they always had; not to mention his super cool ability to copy his enemies powers! ) Transformers (the original series. Awesome!) GhostBusters (Never could get enough of this show.) Earthworm Jim (Funny.) Darkwing Duck (Yeah, I like ducks. But crime fighting ones? Oh, my.) Duck Tales (Great adventures, not to mention they were ducks.) TaleSpin (Very catchy theme song. Cool and funny show. Can't forget Balou or Kit with his fold away glider.) Spider-man (Marvel kind. Not talking 1960's. But the animated series, oh my, it doesn't get any better. Shove that somewhere MTV with your nasty spoof of Spider-man. (Though Spider-man's movement and agileness is bang on) What would Stan Lee say?) Animaniacs (Hahahahahaha. You had to watch it. "...But you're not a man, you're a chicken, Boo." *Sang pleasantly* Freakazoid! (Great comedy even for Steven Speilberg!) S.W.A.T Kats (Plain awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the exclamation marks stress that enough, don't you?) Invader Zim (A new kind of twisted comedy.) Aside from all these cartoons, I'll give you something more tangible. Mind you Knight Rider & Going around the twist were live action shows. Sliders - The possiblity of traveling to millions of different worlds through a portal that you had to slide through! Kung Fu The Legend Continues - Slow paced. Nice action. Viper - Ohhhh man. Did I ever have something for the Dodge Viper especially the GTS or RT 1/10. Not sure though if the "Defender" was ever made into an actual model? The Invisible Man - How many episodes did that have? When'd it get cancelled? Being able to turn invisible at your very whim?? I wouldn't use it for evil in that sense. But I'm sure it'd come in handy, now and then. Weird Science - Very comical. And, let's not forget the luscious Vanessa Angel. Oh my god, I hope she's still single.

Andy Richter Controls the Universe
Firefly Miracles [the] Lone Gunmen Futurama There was Max Headroom, which was way before it's time, but then again Fox and ABC are quite known for tossing shows into death's door timeslots. And, of course, Sledge Hammer. I was ten when I saw it, and I can only hope they release that one on DVD.

Another vote for Andy Richter and a lot of the ones oldtimer mentioned. Also:
Masked Rider (One of the many Power Ranger clones Saban ported over b/c of their success with Power Rangers) Pirates of Dark Water (brownie points of anyone remembers this gem) Big Bad Beetleborgs The Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog Thundercats EDIT: I can't believe I forgot Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future

A lot of good shows already mentioned, so let me add two:
Action! with Jay Mohr, pretty dark humor. Surprised given the crows here that it didn't get mentioned yet. And, surprise, another Fox move. The State, was on MTV I believe - didn't appreciate the humor at first, but it really grew on me. "I'd like to dip my balls in it!"

Twin Peaks is on the top of my list.
I like that show Action and also Profit both on fox shame they were canceled. I like the Critic too, but I can just catch reruns on Comedy Central. And Cartoon Network has bot Futurama and Family guy, so there's no reason to miss those shows. |

Let me add my voice to Sports Night, but I've got a couple others...
fearofmear, I couldn't agree more about Cupid! One of the best shows ABC has ever cancelled. I've got every episode on tape. I only wish the quality was decent. The_Jazz, as an ex-radio guy, I loved WKRP. Probably my favorite TV show of all time. ("I want a hat!! Cops gotta hat. I want a hat too!") Fortunately, the show had a good run and left right before it really jumped the shark, though you could see the fin circling in the water. Others: Quantum Leap Class of 96 - loved, loved, loved this one! But I'm probably dating myself real bad here. Police Squad - yeah, the movies are old hat now, but the show's six episodes were gold.

Upright Citizen Brigade - of course
An I'll have to second the entire batch of decent FOX comedies that they put on for 1/2 - 2 seasons and the canceled. Some of them weren't that great, but they all had that off-kilter slant that made them enjoyable. Undeclared Family Guy Andy Richter Titus Grounded For Life Futurama was the worst, because FOX didn't just cancel it, they abused it, shelved it, froze it, thawed it, and did everything they could to make sure it was dead, dead, dead and that no one would be able to produce new episodes. The show I miss the most is The Tick cartoon. I would love to have billions of episodes of that. I don't know how anything could be so damn funny and not be offensive. |
