Bubba Ho-Tep
Anybody seen this movie at a special screening yet?
Bubba Ho-Tep? It has Bruce Campbell as the real Elvis and Ossie Davis as Jack Kennedy. Both are alive and kickin' it but living in a retirement community. They fight off one bad ass mummy. |
im very excited about this comming out.. it really sounds like good fun!
I saw it at a screening they did in LA a couple months ago. The movie is great. Ash himself introduced the flick too. I still remember trying to explain the film to my friends, the premise is so wacked out.
I have read (partially read actually) a book written by the Lansdale (the screenwriter) and that book was damn funny. It was called Bad Chili. It was about a detective who was bitten by a rapid squirrel who had to then investigate bikers....I don't know why I never finished it cuz it was so trippy that I was curious to see how it ended. This movie has the same zanny settings and characters. Plus you can't go wrong with Bruce Campbell.
Nope, never heard of it before either. But I am sure as hell going to see it now.
Haven't seen a screening, but man, I've been dying and crying to see it since I first heard about it a while back. Everynow and then I google it, but there's depresingly little new info that comes out about it :(
Pellaz, check out www.aintitcool.com, they love the flick.
This must be based on the Joe Lansdale story of the same name.
"Bad Chilli" was another book entirely, having nothing to do with Elvis. Maybe Lansdale will finally get a little popularity now. It would be AWESOME to see some of his novels made into movies. Would be the best thing since Tarantino. |
I've been hearing about this movie for a while. It's good to see it finally done! Now hopefully it will find its way here...
apparently it's not gonna be released nationwide. aintitcool had a list of the days and cities they would be showing it at.
It's too bad though, that means that lots of people won't be able to see the flick until it's released on dvd. |
I heard about that movie a good while ago at http://brucecampbell.com, and I've been wanting to see it ever since. Anything with such a strange concept pretty much has to be good. Plus, Bruce Campbell is a god.
i'm hoping it goes well at the few screenings it does have.. normally movies get picked up for more distribution once it's had a sucessful limited run. it looks like a silly little show. i definitely hope i get to watch it on a big screen.
Are the books good? This sounds right up my alley and I'm in the need for some new toilet reading material.
I CANT WAIT TO SEE IT! I have a feeling its going to be one of my favorite movies of the year.

If your a Bruce Campbell/Evil Dead Fan You'll want to check this out.... This movie looks friggin awesome.... ELVIS, Bruce Campbell and a Mummy.... doesn't get any better than this! Plus Ozzie as JFK (Ozzie Davis Not thee Ozzy - that would be weird) DB |
NICE! Bruce Campbell the man.
I watched the trailer for this the other day. It's one of those movies that if you try to tell someone about it you sound like a retard.
"So...there's this movie coming out with Bruce Campbell, he plays an old Elvis and he's in a nursing home with JFK, who's black now, and they have to fend off this mummy..." Looks like it's going to rock though. |
I always knew Elvis wasnt dead... Hail to the King!
Haven't seen it, but a guy I know has and loved it.
