Star Wars: Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith

The first two left a lot to be desired, can the third on revitalize the Saga?

Willravel 10-28-2004 10:35 AM

I was thinking about starting a Star Wars III thread. Nice work.

Now there are the rare people, like myself, in a strange group. I liked Phantom Menace, and Attack of the Clones! I know my group isn't big, but I'd like to remind people we're out there.

That being said, after reading the script (no, I will not give the script), I will say that this movie is going to be big in a lot of ways. Romance? Not so much anymore. Storyline? A bit. Action? Possibly mroe action than any other movie of all time. Longest and most spectacular space battle scene in history. Longest sword fight.

Typical of Lucas. "Who needs story when I can give them explosions?"

You have to look at the glass as being half full. In this last movie, we will have our last questions answered about what lead to the reality in Episode 4. This film will break new ground in the visual and audio arts front, too. As someone who loves CGI and digital audio arts, I am very, very excited to see what is debued from ILM.

I got goosebumps during the battle between Jango Fett and Obie Wan in the asteroid field.

To each his own. I've been more impressed with the digital effects in the LOTR movies, mostly because they aren't so blatant and very few scenes were shot on blue screen (unlike Star Wars, which is almost all blue screen).

What do you guys think?

I kinda like the idea of Anakin having the scar on his face but the cape flowing up to form Vader's Mask is a bit too hokey.

I like the shadow cast by the young Anakin on the Ep1 teaser poster but this one is going a bit far.

On another topic has anybody read or started reading Republic Commando ? It's a novel tie-in with the forth-coming PC game of the same name. It's pretty damn good. I was surprised at how good it was.

You'd be suprised how much of LOTR was shot on blue screens, and how much of the film is purely digitally created

I can't wait until the new film comes out after seeing General G in the cartoon series, it's going to be freaky...

IMO, we didn't need them answered. Nothing that happens in I, II and III changes the greatness of IV, V, and VI. Although, George seems to sure wish they do and is going to fairly great lengths to force an importance of the new trilogy onto the original.

Blistex 10-29-2004 09:35 AM

Anyone else want to see Darth Vader in full gear (with James Earl Jones' Voice) at the end of this movie putting some serious hurt on some Jedis?

Knowing lucas he'll probably have some gay-ass half-hearted costume so that Hayden Christensen (mr cardboard) can stay in it longer.

archer2371 10-29-2004 10:37 AM

Actually no, there's a big special on the Trilogy DVDs about the Darth Vader costume, it's badass. The lightsaber duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan is supposed to last like twenty minutes or something, so that should be good. Fear not true believers, Lucas didn't screw with the Darth Vader costume, the production guys actually made the mask more symmetrical.

I've watched every featurette on the Ext. Editions, so I know how much is digital. But it still pales in comparison to the new Star Wars films.

Homey_V 10-29-2004 11:13 AM

I just read the plot summary, and I think if the acting improves and the script isnt too bad it could be a respectable movie.

I wont give anything away, you can read the summary for yourself if you like, Mr.Deflok kindly provided the link to Supershadow several times, but it could turn out well.

Of course, I'll probably be crying in the fetal position in the gutter, like every other fanboy, after walking out of the film, but I choose to remain optimistic to make the pain that much more cutting.

Morning everyone! We'll be back later today with our usual post, but I just wanted to jump in here to let you all know that the Star Wars: Episode III trailer is going to be shown on Access Hollywood tomorrow night (Thursday), in addition to being available on Star Wars.com (only to paying Hyperspace members of course). It will also be in theaters this weekend with The Incredibles. And you can reasonably expect that ripped copies of it will be available to download everywhere around the Net soon enough. Just FYI.

Bonesaw 11-03-2004 08:42 PM

I'm thinking about taking two of my kids to see the Incredibles just so that my son and I can see the preview to Episode 3.

joeyaz 11-04-2004 02:04 PM

Got this in a email.. the SW EP III trailer for those who want to see it.. http://www.worldofepic.net/ep3.mov

dy156 11-04-2004 04:20 PM

Thank you! I was looking for it on the internet, but knew the TFP would come through for me again.

bparker805 11-04-2004 04:58 PM

OMG!!! That teaser had me drowling for more...

Redjake 11-04-2004 06:21 PM

the teaser trailer is awesome. I now have somewhat of a hope for this movie. Pray to Jesus that this movie redeems Episode II.

Bonesaw 11-04-2004 08:44 PM

Thanks jbleed. WOW!!!! That trailer looks totally awesome. Now lets just hope they didn't put all of the best parts into the trailer. :p

Xiangsu 11-04-2004 09:04 PM

So far episodes 1 & 2 have definitely earned their spots in history and are far superior to the originals. Episode 3 will be no different...

**edit**

In all honesty I do think the trailer for episode 3 makes it look to be the best of the new movies. I also think episodes 1 & 2 were judged too harshly by many. If they had came out on their own, without having to live up to the originals, people would have liked them. They still would have hated jar jar either way, but they would have like them. Come one, the fight at the end of episode 1 with Darth Maul was priceless and who didn't think it was great, or hilarious depending on your point of view, when Yoda fought Dooku?

Mr.Deflok 11-04-2004 09:44 PM

Did anyone else get chills when Vader appeared on screen? Or when they realised that was motherfucking Sidious weilding that Saber?

Man, I mean I've known about what was in the trailer for weeks now but to actually see it... holy crap... it's amazing. Roll on May 2005.

Fremen 11-04-2004 10:22 PM

Awesome clip, jbleed. Thanks, man.

I got chills when they showed all the Wookies, Mr. D. :D

quadro2000 11-05-2004 05:55 AM

Yeah, I lost it when they showed Vader rising with his hands bound. That and when the Emperor said "Rise." Homina homina homina.

Bonesaw 11-05-2004 07:37 AM

Well my son has watched the teaser now a couple times and is ready for May to be here now :D

Willravel 11-05-2004 10:51 AM

Between Battlefront, the DVDs, and the trailer, I am about ready to burst. Gah!! Get here faster!!!!

yellowgowild 11-05-2004 03:16 PM

I was wondering if they made a mistake on the placement of the saber blade, or if this takes place in two separate scenes...
link 1

link 2

might have to copy and paste if you cant see it.

Mr.Deflok 11-05-2004 05:11 PM

It'll be two different 'scenes', they did the same in the AOTC trailer where it looked like Padme and Anakin were looking at each other but they're from completely different scenes.

Man, this trailer is so bad ass.

Sargeman 11-05-2004 08:02 PM

Just got back from watching the Incredibles and the first preview was Star Wars 3.

It looked FUCKING AWESOME! Didn't see any jar jar binks or any goofy stuff like that. Hopefully Lucas kept it dark the way IMO this episode should be.

I saw preview tonight as well, I agree with you. Can't wait until May :)

No, but I got goosebumps when I heard Vader's voice. "Yes, Master."

Oh, so fucking cool!

I hope, I hope, I hope this movie is as fucking cool as it looks. I hope Vader shows up early. I just don't know how much more petulant-boy I can take and a good outing by my favorite Sith Lord could do some good in erasing all the bad memories of the other prequels.

Pfhorte 11-06-2004 02:49 PM

Teaser was a good tease

I have watched the teaser many times and like it. It is a bit fast paced tho.
I can't wait to see the teaser on the big screen.

Dr.Who 11-07-2004 06:25 AM

The trailer is perfect! perfect! PERFECT!!! Maybe the film will make it up for the other 2. Thanks for the link.

blar 11-07-2004 09:13 AM

that clip is just nice....wow

now i am pumped for the movie

aberkok 11-07-2004 09:31 AM

I'll probably go see it, and I have to agree that the teaser looks cool (who's that scary guy with the messed up teeth?), but don't forget that the Ep.II trailer was cool too. We could still be in for some surprises like Artoo flying again (!?!?!?).

Bring on the mitichlorians.

meepa 11-07-2004 11:34 AM

I saw the trailer in the theater last night, and I hadn't seen it yet. My thoughts were, "Wow that looks cool... but so did the previews for the other prequels. Hope they don't fuck it up." It has the potential to be the best of the prequels. The first one was a children's movie, the second one was a bad episode of teenaged-angst in space. Hopefully this one will grow up and turn out to be something good.

OR, I can be like my friends. As on my left side said, "I only watch these for the lightsaber scenes anyway" and on my right, "I only watch these for Natalie Portman anyway". So at least there will be that!

Drider_it 11-07-2004 05:14 PM

alright i got two forums i haunt.. if it wasnt anyone here im sorry

hah.. you doubted me.. i was a god.. i told you so anikan got toasted by lava while in a saber battle.. i was right pffft never doubt me again when i tell you something months in advance.. END TRANSMISSION

anyways looks like epi 3 will make up for the first two

ShaniFaye 11-07-2004 05:22 PM

I hope so Drider I saw the orignial's in the theater when they premiered....I've seen the last two....Im one of those that thought in no way did they compare to the first set. The special effects were ok but the movies themselves sucked IMO. I will be one of the ones seeing the 3rd one (thus keeping my record for seeing all 6 on premier day) but I'm still not expecting much

Spoiler: anakin gets toasted by lava while in a saber battle.....that's how he becomes darth vader (the suit keeps him alive from the injuries or something along those lines)

The character's name is "Tion Medon". His real name is Bruce Spence.
Better known as the Gyro Captain from the The Road Warrior and Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. (although, he's a different character in MMBT) :)
