I've never been too fond of pirates, too much homo-erotic tension. However I've heard many good things about this movie, namely that Johnny Depp is unbelievably good in his roll of Jack Sparrow.

The movie was awesome. For pure entertainment it beats a lot of other movies that have come out this year. It wasn't anything special and all that, just a fun movie, especially with Johnny Depps character.
I heard there's something at the end of the credits... anybody stay after that'll share what it was? I didn't hear about it until after I watched it ![]()

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie-- very uncharacteristic for a Disney movie. I went to see the movie with some of my gay friends (everyone has at least one or two gay friends, right?), and one of my female friends, so they were all swooning over Johnny Depp for the whole movie. Other than this tiny bit of awkwardness, the movie was great. I only went because my female friend invited me-- if the dudes had invited me I probably would've told 'em that I was busy. Anyways, I go and half expect it to be a generic Disney film like Pocahontas, Little Mermaid, Aladdin (I have a friend [female] who'd kill me for mentioning Aladdin like this; she loves that movie...), Mulan, and that whole slew of... stupid Disney movies. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the movie was highly watchable.
Oh, and one more thing. Towards the end of the movie, the gal started looking exactly like Natalie Portman, and I started kicking myself for not having noticed earlier that it was her. When the movie was over, I was left with a feeling of uncertaintly of whether it was her or not. I now know that it was actually Keira Knightley. Here's a link to an article. Get this: Quote:
![]() I guess dopplegangers really do exist. I mean, theoretically, there's no reason why they shouldn't. Only problem is that they're quite rare... or maybe that's a good thing? I wonder if I have a doppleganger somewhere... ![]()

Anyone seen this on yet? Reviews have been very good so far. It's on my list of ones to see on the big screen.

I also enjoyed this movie much more than I expected too.
While it had a typical "everyone is happy" Disney ending, the story was actually pretty decent, considering the concept is from a theme park ride. And I fully agree, Johnny Depp was very good in this movie, even to having his 'wierd' behavior explained. My friend and I also commented that the special effects in this one were VERY cool.

pretty good movie
i wasn't thinking "wow, that was amazing, i love this movie" when i left the theater but it was defently worth my $9 and 2.5 hours. for some reason, the movie seemed REALLY long, even longer than the matrix reloaded (which was acually less than 10 mins shorter). i don't know why. it just seemed like the movie dragged on and on as they jump from ship to ship than get another ship and then lose the ship, then jump on another ship, then lose the girl, then find a ship just to get to the girl but lose the ship again. oh well |

Saw it. Loved it.
Johnny Depp made the movie. He provided just the right amount of comical relief at just the right times. And the special effects were spot on. There was a seamless transition from the men to the moonlight "Ghost Men". Really well done. It was a bit long, but I honestly didn't even notice until the movie was over and I looked at the clock. It was that good of a movie. This movie was easily the surpise of the summer for me. I highly recommend it.

Pirates of the Caribbean
I highly recommend this movie. It was action from start to finish and always kept me entertained. Probably my favorite movie this summer along with Finding Nemo.
Charley's Angles 2 on the other hand was probably the worset made movie I have ever seen. If it wasn't fot the Bikini's I would have left early. |

it was good, but it was way too much of a romantic comedy. Anyone who has done any pirate research will know that 90% of the movie is pure bullshit. They should have made it a horror/slasher film. But i must agree, casting Johnny Depp was the greatest idea Gore Verbinski ever had. Maybe the next time he starts to get smart, he'll realize how dumb his name is.
the movie was enjoyable, though it often depended on cliche and stereotype. as for the pirate's code, who the fuck thought that up? |
