New shows for Fall '10

I'm gonna at least watch the pilot for Hawaii Five-O. In truth, it looks like utter crap, but it's got the best theme song in television history, and Grace Park in a bikini.

They're blocking TRAILERS on international copyright grounds now?

Unbelievable.

Can't help with the trailer, but I can supply some Grace Park--

--and supply the theme song--

--so, basically, there's no need to see the trailer

Oh, wait, try here

My standards aren't that high, but this looks to have a lot in common with the writing of the CSI shows, which I'm not a fan of.

Were you a fan of the '97 TV show Le Femme Nikita?

Maggie Q, seen here as agnet Zhen Lei n "Mission Impossible III," has the title role in the CW's "Nikita," a new series version of "La Femme Nikita."
Having gained some super spy experience as agent Zhen Lei in "Mission Impossible III," model-turned-action star Maggie Q will tackle the title role in the CW's "Nikita.'' An updated version of "La Femme Nikita," the series is one of two dramas the network will premiere this fall.

The story of young woman trained to be a government spy and assassin, "La Femme Nikita" was a 1990 French film with Anne Parillaud. It was followed by a 1993 American version, "Point of No Return," starring Bridget Fonda, and a 1997-2001 series, "La Femme Nikita," with Peta Wilson.

In the CW incarnation, we learn that Nikita was a troubled teen rescued from death by a secret U.S. agency known as Division. Turned into a top operative and killer, she goes into hiding after being betrayed by the only people she trusts. Also in the cast are Lyndsy Fonseca, Ashton Holmes, Melinda Clarke and Xander Berkeley.

"Nikita" will get the 9-10 p.m. Thursday time slot, airing behind the CW's rookie 8-9 hit, "The Vampire Diaries." That's the spot currently occupied by "Supernatural," which is moving to 9-10 Friday, behind another returning genre show, "Smallville."

The CW, seen in this area on WBNX Channel 55, schedules 10 hour of prime-time programming a week (8-9 weeknights). It's lineup strongly relies on dramas and genre shows that appeal to women 18 to 34 years old.

Tom Welling, the star of "Smallville," is one of the executive producers behind "Hellcats," the other new series ordered by the CW. Getting the 9-10 Wednesday spot, this drama stars Aly Michalka as Marti Perkins, a pre-law student at Lancer University in Memphis, Tenn.

When she loser her scholarship, Marti tries to stay in school by dusting off her dormant gymnastic skills and fighting for a place on Lancer's cheerleading squad, the Hellcats. Michalka's co-stars include Ashley Tisdale, Heather Hemmens, Robbie Jones, Matt Barr and Gail O'Grady.

Although the CW is adding only two new series this fall, programmers are reshuffling the prime-time deck by moving four returning shows. In addition to the "Supernatural" shift from Thursday to Friday: "90210" moves from 8-9 Tuesday to 8-9 Monday, "One Tree Hill" moves from 8-9 Monday to 8-9 Tuesday, and "Life Unexpected," which has aired on Monday and Wednesday, will settle into the 9-10 Tuesday spot.

The CW also announced a midseason reality show, "Shedding for the Wedding," which follows 10 overweight couples as they plan weddings while trying to lose weight. Announced for this summer was the eight-episode reality series "Plain Jane," which, each week, will give a woman a head-to-toe style transformation. The process will include a new wardrobe and confidence-building exercises.

The shows canceled by the CW are "Melrose Place," "The Beautiful Life: TBL," "High Society" and "Fly Girls."

It looks fun, and I like fun shows.

On that note, I'm glad Human Target is returning.
