Exactly this. I stopped watching halfway through Season 3, when it was obvious the writers no longer had a vision of where the show was headed. This was because they were entirely different writers, of course.

Hell I thought the show never reached its potential, not even in season 1. I bought season 1 on DVD after hearing so many good things about it but even in the first season it was unreached character development over and over. I will admit that the show had MAAAJOR potential to be amazing but it just never got there.

Agreed. Heroes went to shit after season 1. No continuity. No scaling up and/or character development.
In my opinion, American audiences (perhaps due to the size) has a very high latency when it comes to tv series. Most "successful" series end up getting milked beyond the point when it should have concluded - even good ones like Seinfeld.

Piggybacking a bit, if only because I agree. Also, I'm not sure how you lasted that long, as I was entirely flustered and disinterested by midway season 2, or whenever... I don't even care to remember when I stopped caring about this series, and it's horribly out-of-control, bigger-than-itself plot.

Now we finally know the answer to the question whether the number of Ali Larter characters would be greater than the number of seasons of Heroes.
This has got to be one of the all-time great fuckups of a seemingly unstoppable juggernaut.
