Goodbye, farewell and God bless you Adrian Monk
There are very few shows that I can honestly say I would never miss an episode of even though we don't have cable.
Monk is one of them. I have always had an affection for Tony Shaloub as a comedic actor since the first time I ever saw him on Wings and he was to give Antonio Scarpachi life. So, when I saw he had his own quirky series on the USA Network (which has always been my favorite cable network), I was excited. I immediately fell in love with the character Adrian Monk. In some ways I could relate. It was like watching a brother or crazy cousin. I was ecstatic to share my Friday nights with him and his sidekicks Sharona and the very beautiful Natalee Teeger. During the Monk "season", Friday nights would find me in front of my tv watching, laughing at the newest episode. My favorite was the trash strike and how a delirious Monk came up with a great conclusion that Alice Cooper killed the Union Boss for his antique chair. "Alice is a hippy, but the bad kind of hippy." I still laugh watching it on DVD. 1 bag, 1 truck. Tonight, I say goodbye to a tv show that I watched from its beginning. I'll miss the show. I have tried to prepare myself since this Spring when they announced it would be the final season, but now that the day is here and the minutes ticking down, I am feeling a deep remorse for the ending. Goodbye, Mr. Monk. Thank you to the show's creative staff, to the actors (It was a hell of an ensemble), to the writers, directors and everyone that made the show as great as it was. In the end, the show over its 8y ears has gotten better in some araes (growth of characters, Monk's drive to get better) and hurt in others (RIP Stanley Kamel - AKA Dr. Kroger). I Will miss the show but as the adage goes, "Leave the audience wanting more" and that they have. Maybe, just maybe, in time we will see a reunion and be able to visit these characters... these members of our family again. Goodbye, farewell and God bless Adrian Monk... Fridays will never be the same without you.

I haven't seen much of this show because his OCD drives me up the wall but it sucks that it's ending. Lots of people like it. I never got into it because half the episode is him battling his OCD and gahhhh put a bullet in my head. I guess if one thought it was amusing, it would make the show even better.

---------- Post added at 03:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:59 PM ---------- Me being obsessive and having watched this show as much as I have, I noticed 1 major mistake with the finale. In a previous episode, Monk went to a college reunion class of '81. Him and Trudy were supposedly college sweethearts. How did she hyave this "affair" before knowing him and a daughter resulting from the affair in 1983 and as she had put it on the video "long before we ever met"? I know it may seem trivial, being the conclusion was written so fucking well but it was a glaring mistake and could have been corrected so easily. My guess is that when they do sequel movies (which they left it wide open for), this allows a little younger generation to be in it. But they also have that possibility with Natalee's daughter. The biggest surprise for me was that Natalee and Monk didn't end up as a couple.I truly expected that to happen.

When Monk had to do theatre acting and he was supposed to upheave a table but took everything off one by one instead, the laugh he does in that episode was about the FUNNIEST thing I have ever seen and heard. I'm going to hunt for it now on youtube.
---------- Post added at 02:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:50 PM ---------- It's not on youtube although some episodes are. Apparently I can watch any episode I want at Watch Monk | Episodes Online for FREE but it seems odd and I'm suspicious. |

I regrettably never heard of this show until now. So I found the last episode part 1 and watched it for 40 minutes online. It was awesome but, much to my chagrin, the site didn't offer part 2...which i didn't realize until I had already finished part 1. It stopped right where his wife was on the tape explaining that something happened before they met...and there he is Spoiler: dying from poison...then...blip...credits role and grrrr, i'm still hanging.
Thank you, oliver, for suggesting that free site because part 2 is available there...but I, too, am skeptical about downloading and agreeing to terms. I can sort of guess what's going to happen somewhat. I'm guessing that Spoiler: the midwife who was murdered probably delivered mr. monk's wife's baby that she conceived with the judge who ended up killing her, the midwife, and the pharmacist in order to cover up something having to do with the child that was born...hmmm...who is that child then?...uh oh...mr monk's daughter?...am i warm? No don't tell me...maybe I'll see part 2 someday...grrr. You're right, Pan, excellent writers for that show and I can see how you became so involved in it. I mean I only saw 40 minutes of it and I'm grieving here for not having closure
