WoW.... the movie?!
Quote:
First off, what the fuck? I know this is technically old news as Blizzard announced a World of Warcraft movie back in 2006, but I figured it was just another case of Starcraft: Ghost, where they bite off more than they can chew and scrap it. Bringing Rami on board gives this a legitimacy and seriousness that has kinda knocked me on my ass. Could.... could this actually be good? Leaving alone the fact that Spiderman 3 was a cinematic disaster (though not financially), Rami has proven that he can direct great movies. This isn't Uwe Boll. I'm hesitant to even consider a Warcraft movie being decent. Will the movie feature 10-12 hours of killing small woodland creatures before being at a high enough level to do anything interesting? What guild does Bruce Campbell belong to? Will Arthas dance around like a complete tool? I honestly don't know. |

I want Bruce Campbell's cameo, cause you know that he will have one, to be as Autolycus King of Thieves. He was my favorite character in the Xena/herc verse.
As for the movie... it's going to bomb. Bomb in a way that's not humanly possible, but Sam Raimi will find a way to run this idea so far into the ground it's going to come out in china. There is SOOOO much they could use to make a movie, hell you could get 3-6 movies out of the backstory from the Warcraft verse. The rise of Thrall could be a great first movie. |

People forget there are 3 actual Warcraft games that have a story line, as well as a whole franchise of books.
There is a story to be told here. That said, if they veer in to new territory with the plot, they could end up alienating their fan base as well as confuse newcomers to the story. If they stick to the established story (orc invasion, ner'zhul, etc..) they may have a decent film, but having "been through it" before with the games, it's going to be a giant exercise in deja vu. |

I think that there is even sufficient lore and space to tell story in between the existing stories. It's a Warcarft movie, not a World of Warcraft movie. There's plenty of story to start and end.
I just don't want it to wind up like Dungeons and Dragons, what a piece of steaming pile that was.

Actually, the storylines from the three original games would make for some pretty decent movies. I'd definitely go see them.
World of, though? Meh.

I'd love to see a movie based on Warcraft III, especially if they can squeeze Frozen Throne in there.
Still, this is crazy.

Well, a dancing scene would be much more appropriate than it was in spider-man 3, with all those youtube WOW dance videos.

I'd be pretty suprised if this movie doesn't completely bomb. Sam Raimi spearheaded the Legend of the Seeker, an adaptation of the sword of truth book series by Terry Goodkind. The show was a total train wreck in comparison to the books. I just don't think he has the talent for a good fantasy show or movie.
