Anyone else love stand-up?
Does anyone else out there love stand up comedy? I would love to be a comedian, so I really respect those guys. Fellow TFPers, which of you like stand up, and those that do, who are your favorite comedians? Gimme your favorite lines as well.
Richard Pryor was the best who ever lived in my opinion, but my favorites of today include: Dave Attell: "So I sit back and focus, What would be the perfect dream job for me? Manager of a chocolate factory run by big-breasted hookers...................naw, I don't got the schoolin for that." Eddie Izzard: "And Hitler died in a ditch, covered in Petrol, on fire. And thats fun........I mean thats funny, cause hes a mass-murdering fuckhead." Pablo Francisco: "Man, I hate that, a girl with a hot body, but an ugly face, its like, ' Yeah, I love spaghetti, but its got shit on it!' " Mitch Hedberg: "I was standing in a club and no one was talking to me because I had just did a show. A bouncer came up to me and said, 'Sir, you need to move because you're blocking the fire exit.' As though as if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you are flammable and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit."

Pablo Francisco and Jim Brewer. Excluding all the legends in the comedy industry like Richard Pryor, it's hard to beat those two. Dave Attell's also good, but he's better off with his "Insomniac" show. Then Mitch Hedberg is also really funny, but his timing and the way he tells his jokes (jumps from one thing to another just like that) sometimes throws me off.

I love numerous comedians with different styles, from Bill Hicks to Jerry Seinfeld, but right now, David Cross owns all.

I like a lot of contemporary comedians, but Eddie Izzard's my current favorite. He makes breathing difficult. "Death or cake?" "Emm...cake, please."
George Carlin is my all-time fave, though. I've never seen him live and I really regret it. He's 66 years old and still urgent and brilliant. Plus he's the best amateur linguist ever. |

Harland Williams has one of thee strangest stand up acts. 1 part funny 1 part weird as fuck. I've seen Attell, his was great, along with Chappelle who showed up (wasnt on the bill) that same night because it was his birthday and he was in town. Awesome show Carlos Mencia and Dane Cook also rock.

Eddie Izzard is exceptionally funny.
If you like southern humor and comedians, rent the "Blue Collar Comedy Tour". It's sort of the redneck version of the Kings of Comedy, but not nearly as vulgar. I have seen George Carlin live three times, and have never been disappointed.

Diceman took the words right out of my mouth. David Cross and Eddie Izzard are also personal favorites, and I was really surprised at how funny Kevin James' stuff was. Not quite stand up, but Tenacious D owns too. Jake Johansons old stuff was good, but he lost it.

Bill Hicks and Eddie Izzard, of course. Also, I saw Christopher Titus years ago in San Francisco, and I just about blew a gasket. He's inspired.
