The Hunger
Has anyone seen the movie, and/or read the book? Although I'm not into vamperia (is that a word?), I am curious to hear what some of you think of the book &/or movie.
FWIW I do like the movies Interview With A Vampire, & Bram Stroker's Dracula. |
The movie reminded me of something that is made for television. Not that the subject matter is appropriate for all ages, but more that is is boring, drab and unimaginative. The book is slightly better, but I don't much fancy Whitley Strieber as a writer; too melodramatic.
A movie from the same era, "Wolfen," also based on a Strieber book, is much better. |
The Hunger movie, as I recall, was plodding and '80s artsy. Even the lesbian scene, between the female vampire (played by Catherine Deneuve) and the newcomer-woman (played by Susan Sarandon) to the vampiric ménage à trois (the 3rd member being David Bowie), were artistically languid and tepid, and too visually filtered, to be of much interest.

Thanks for the input. I might try the movie if I can rent it for a buck.
I remember seeing Wolfen, wasn't blown away, and didn't realize that it was based on a book by the same author. |
I hate vampire movies, but i've seen this one. It has Ann Magnuson in it -- and Catherine Deneuve. As usual, Catherine Deneuve is very good, but there isn't enough Ann Magnuson.

This movie was very boring and I can't believe I finished watching it.

Oh man - when it came out I guess I was a teenager - Catherine DeNeuve in girl on girl action was pretty damn cool.
No idea how it would seem today. |
The film's biggest problem: NOT ENOUGH DAVID BOWIE.
'nuff said. |
David Bowie? I think i heard about him in a song once.
