Private Mercenaries on History Channel
Does anyone here know anything about private mercenaries? I saw this program on History Channel recently called Shadow Force that looks like a documentary format about some private mercenaries doing things like working for the Liberian government to catching fishing pirates. Was wondering if what i'm watching is real, or reality-show-like or just totally made up.
Anyone? |

I have a buddy who was looking at a "private security" job on ships in Africa. BYOG. Crazy piracy things going on there. Supposedly real good money in being a hired gun, although I wouldn't count on the benefits and the trustworthiness of the company is a big goose egg. |

Mercenary is considered a derogatory term and isn't typically appropriate.

-----Added 13/12/2008 at 06 : 57 : 11----- On the topic of "mercinaries" in Africa...If we're talking about folks going over to act as soldiers for whoever has money, I've heard of guys doing it before. But these typically arent guys I would want to deploy with and Im not sure of their legal status/the status of the "governments" they're working for. If we're talking about military consultants, personal security, contractors, that are in the employ of reputable, US based companies...thats something completely different. Its honest work. Just my two cents. There are other, more qualified posters on this thread.
