Ghostbusters: The Game

Okay, I know some of you have seen the trailer to the new Ghostbusters game. And, I know, I know, I share some of the same reservations as you....

Please don't SUCK!!!

I was old enough to enjoy the Ghostbusters craze. For those of you who missed it, I am sorry for you. But at least you can enjoy its cult status.

I even played the original C-64 (that's Commodore 64) Ghostbusters game. Wow, you remember that?

Anyway, I'm pretty excited about this because I'm a geek, and I like Ghostbusters. Even if the game sucks, it's a big change over the last game.

Just have a look:

We're going from this:

To this:

Just remember...don't cross the streams!!!

Anyone else looking forward to playing this?

Oh, and if Ray Parker Jr.'s original track is on the game soundtrack, I'm probably going to lose my mind....

Damn, that was one of my favourite games. Getting between the Staypufft Marshmallow Man's legs at the end was really hard. I think we only ever won the game a couple of times.

Apparently a movie sequel is in the works too.

Ah, back in the day when 64kb of RAM was considered leading edge. Ah, the glory of 8-bit gaming....

Dude, you just out-geeked me. I have no idea what you're talking about.

But I looked it up. I grew up in Kingston, which might explain it.

I was more of a Mad and Dragon magazine kind of kid.

Wow, your Drangon reference put me into some kind of time warp. I wish I still had some of my old issues.

As for the Ghostbusters game, it looks awesome. I've heard the entire original cast (excepting maybe Moranis? Sigh.) is on the game. I've also heard that the game may be delayed because of the posibility of a new movie. That would truely suck.

You grew up in kingston? Ever seen Judith Thompson's Crackwalker?

If not, go see it at Passe-Muraille right now.

I am intrigued but skeptical.

And I too remember the old C64 version. Wasn't there a sequel on Nintendo?

At this point...any Ghostbusters fix is a good fix. Even if the game turns out to be mediocre shit, I'll probably still play through it.

I just hope the proton packs give a realistic kickback when you open them up on those ghosties. Those things aren't toys, you know.

Ackroyd and Ramis wrote the game's storyline, and they, along with Murray and Hudson, will provide the voices.

Seriously, I don't even care if it sucks.

Holy crap. For the game - Awesome. It looks just like the old movies. I don't care if my son wants it or not, I'm buying it.

As for the movie trailer - I couldn't understand a word they said, as I don't speak Italian, but that looks awesome too. I LOVED Ghostbusters as a kid.

The Ghostbusters theme is the ringtone on my phone.
