I will be tuned in the whole season. My addiction to Survivor started with China and now I've seen China, Micronesia, Borneo, Australian Outback, Vanuatu, Pearl Islands, and am currently watching All-stars. There's only 1 more season on DVD and I will be devastated when that is over.

I love me some Survivor. I just can't believe it's been that many seasons. Gosh!
I started watching with the 3rd season, the original Africa show. I couldn't get CBS till then. Directv line-up didn't have local channels yet, and I couldn't get it with my antenna. Then, I found out, (through talking to the Directv rep) that since I couldn't get CBS through my antenna, I was able by law to get it through the satellite. After that, I could get the East and West coast feeds of CBS. A year later, they then added local channels to Directv. (I still have the East/West Coast CBS feeds, though ;-P) Btw, I managed to watch the first two seasons of Survivor on OLN (Outdoor Life Network) a couple of years ago. I don't know if they still run any of the seasons, or not.

I've watched all 17 (I can't believe its been that long either) seasons and they all start off fairly boring cause of all the people but once it gets close to tribal merge and jury it really picks up and I get more into it.
Season 1 Borneo and Season 2 are the best. Season 1 was great cause of the "secret" alliance of 4 that blindsided the outsiders. After that alliances usually popped up in the 1st show.. |

Season 2 was the best because a lot of the cast actually cared for each other and there were a lot of emotional moments that rarely happen now (like their shelter being flooded away, losing the rice in the river, the guy getting his hands basically melted off, killing the boar, etc.). I really liked how Colby took Tina to the end even though he knew he could win against the chef guy. That is pure sportsmanship in Survivor...again, something you rarely see.

Australia was the first one I watched (I've since seen Borneo) and it still ranks as my favorite, though I will admit last seasons was pretty damn good lol
I hope this season they continue with the videos of the jury members when they get voted out, I really enjoyed see that bit of behind the scenes stuff

I agree, the behind the scenes stuff is great. I wish they would show even more of that.

I always hoped they would do something different like the Arctic or up in the mountains, but CBS would never do that as they wouldn't be able to show the half-naked players... |

hmmm it was a great season. Kel is from my hometown and for the record, is as big a douché in real life as he is on the show.

no, they wouldn't do it because the likelihood of serious health risks/death is far greater in the cold than the heat. |

I am a reallity tv junkie. I think Survivor was how I got hooked. It has been better in the last couple of seasons because they keep changing it up and throwing in surprises. The whole immunity idol thing is what I like the best. Last season was awesome how the hidden idol played out over and over.

I've watched every episode of every season and look forward to a new series but... I have to say this show is predictable in many ways and falls into the same routine. The "production" influence really shows over the seasons and it's obvious that it's not "reality" but a TV show where things are manipulated for the production. Jeff Probst also says the exact same things every show and I amuse myself by saying "wanna know what you're playing for?" in time with him. He also calls everyone "guys" even if it's a group of women, which I find bizarre. He wouldn't call a group of men "girls" would he? I'll go tally the votes.
Australian Outback was about the best and I don't think you'll ever see a series like that again on Survivor. People on the show these days actually gain weight rather than lose it and being able to survive in the wild is not a required skill. Puzzle making, now that's a different story! Survivors ready? Game on! |

I watched it in HD last night. It wasn't too bad. A little too much game playing and not enough surviving for me though. Maybe if they had four teams and randomly selected new teams each two days or something like that.
I did like how they censored one girls panties. I guess even if there is no nudity, they still protect me from seeing a outline of what is underneath. Last edited by ASU2003; 09-26-2008 at 04:22 AM.. |

First off, the show is stunning in HD. why they waited so long I'll never know
Second, the Fang tribe is hilariously bad. As they did the schoolyard pick, you could tell that even Jeff was thinking "what the fuck are these people thinking?" I think they gave them flint after tribal council just to throw the poor saps a bone. I'm hoping Randy becomes the Jonathan Penner of this season. |

Finally got to watch last weeks.....I thought for sure this time we were actually going to have a tribe do the smart thing and vote off the "strong" jack ass...nope they had to get rid of Paloma
I absolutely cannot stand Ace

Bob's fake idol is the best fake idol I've seen so far.
Too bad it's useless now that they've combined tribes. Three or four people know Sugar has the real one.

Unless Sugar's is fake... (I know it's not but it would be interesting to see what happens if someone who saw Sugar's finds Bob's)
It does look good in Hi-Def, and as long as I can fast forward through the boring strategy part, it's ok. The golf game was awesome and something I would like playing. I think they should make one season that is 100% female on some remote tropical island, and one season with all guys trying to survive in Northern Alaska. |
