Walking With Dinosaurs -- The Live Experience
Anybody go to the show? I just got done working it and from where I was sitting, it looked awesome. They did a good job with the Dinosaurs as they moved quite fluid. Maybe it was because I saw them 11 times, but the narration was the only corny part, oh and they flying dino.
Anyone else? |
I've not heard of this. Tell us more?

i guess it started with BBC. they re-created dinosaurs and the show itself is basically an paleontologist telling the story of pangea with dinosaurs. dinosaurs are on rose parade type cars that are flat and they are totally animated. walk and move as if they were real (or how they should look as i've never seen one live). their mouths open, eyes move and blink, tail moves and bends. and the trick to it all, was they were inflated. there were compressors onboard so with every move, their skin would flex and wrinkle as if was real.
you can youtube 'walking with dinosaurs' to catch a glimpse. i'd post a pic of the t-rex if i knew how. |
Actually...I have. :D
The tour was in Omaha last April. My wife and I took our 5 year old to go see it. I think that my favorite part was the way that they built up the suspense by displaying the shadow of an absolutely enormous T-Rex moving around behind a curtain. Then, when the curtain finally falls away, what appears is a mischievious baby Tyrannosaur. Mama T-Rex did finally appear just in time to save "Jr." from some misfortune from a flock of Utahraptors. And, yes, the paleontologist was corny, but his sometimes humorous interaction with the dinosaurs helped to make the show a success. |
i just thought the whole thing was put together rather nice. the way the grass and flowers popped up. the way the dinosaurs moved and were created. despite having to see it 11 times, it was still great.
best part was, my seat for the show was just slightly over where mama t-rex grawls at the crowd so i had a total aerial view of it, but unfortunately, i never caught the perspective of the show from the ground level. that must've been great as it totally would emphasize the size of these creatures. |
One of my coworkers went to it with his kids and he said it was amazing.
