I need a script. (Easy money, kids)

It's been a long road for me. I've tried more times than I can count to get a film production off the ground, to the point where I even directed a number of not-too-shabby scenes for one. However, they always have failed and I think I now understand why.

I'm egotistical. I love myself, and because of that I try to do everything and I try to do it NOW so I can be noticed. I did the writing, directing, acting, producing, editing, EVERYTHING on my own with a bunch of actors in tow and that is stupid. I've matured enough to know that that's what separates the film school wannabes from the professionals, and if I want to get something done I'm going to have to open up and get it done with others.

Having said that, it has also come to my attention that I can't trust myself with the script, or at least the first draft. I have to have a previously written piece of work to branch off from, at least for now. Directing and acting are what I'm good at, and while I can manage a story very well and can write prose just fine, scripts are a pain that I'm always too self-conscious about. As such, I need another name on it.

I'm asking here because I know TFP is made up of some of the best and the brightest (and most perverted), so here goes:

1. I need a movie pitch, and it doesn't matter what it is as long as it's not porn and can be done on a relatively low budget (FX are okay, just no massive alien invasions, people).

2. Here are the genres I'm most interested in: horror, thriller, drama and comedy. This pretty much covers everything, I would hope.

3. I don't want a full script, I just want a pitch, whether you have the script itself or not.

4. I'm willing to pay $100 for a short film script and $200 for a feature length script. Hopefully the writers here aren't so egotistical that they have to have more, but if that's the case, than we can discuss things.

I'm sure this all sounds a little ridiculous written out, but I finally understand what it's going to take to produce a good film. The whole reason I quit last time was because I realized it wouldn't end up any good, and I have too much pride to make a piece of shit.

And no, there's no rush. I don't plan on actually filming anything feature-length until at least mid-2009, at which point I'd hopefully have some funds. Until then, I plan on working on producing a reel for prospective investors and talent.

Oh shit, I'm rambling. Posting at 1:30 AM is awkwaaaard....

So anyway, pitch me some ideas or even suggestions for those who think I'm still wrong. PMs appreciated for pitches. If you want to see your artistic talent displayed in dirt cheap college kid-produced digital celluloid, here's your chance.

There has yet to be a quality movie about poker since Rounders.

It's still a pretty big thing in pop culture, so a movie about poker gets my vote.

Any number of ways you could go at it *shrugs*.

Stare at the Sun, your poker script had a lot of potential. Where are you at with it?

I can't believe you remember that Charlatan ^_^.

I wrote that over 2 years ago for a class, and forgot about it.

But I still think a poker movie needs to be made

What was the premise?

Retro: Any promising pitches yet?

i've been saying that I'll write a movie script for over 10 years now. I've had an outline forever

I've never written a script, but the money doesn't seem worth it. $200 for feature length? I get that this is amateur stuff, but that's hardly compensation for the time spent.

if i had one already written and could just e-mail it in, any money would be nice. but to start from scratch... $200 isn't gonna get ya anything good...

just a thought, but a group of people (maybe from TFP) collaborating on a script might get something new started and finished pretty quickly, if there's interest in it...

Only a poker one, and I haven't heard enough to make a decision yet.

And I'm more than willing to negotiate a number above $200, as long as it doesn't reach $1000. It all depends on the concept, really.

I like Harry's idea. I was originally considering a Tilted Film Project thread, but I didn't think anyone would be interested in collaborating on a film.

Well, if you are interested in my Adventures of an Assistant Dishwasher story, I'm sure we could work something out. The last chapter is written, just not edited and posted.

I just read what you've posted so far, and I like it a lot. It's funny, it has a story line, good characters, room for further development, and most importantly, it's cheap. All I would have to do is find a restaurant owner willing to let me use his kitchen at night after everything is closed down, get a few good actors, and pay for some quality equipment to spice up the picture quality and I'd be good. Consider me very interested.

Well, I just posted the last chapter. Go see if you still like it.

If you do, then we can talk.
