Bad Movies????
I have always enjoyed good movies: westerns,
sci-fi,sexy,action,comedy,etc. But for some reasons concerning MONEY, Hollywood loves to make sequels plus Poor films.....I seem to see a lot of BAD movies. Two bad films....ones that are a waste of time and money to me are: 1. "The TRANSFORMERS" 2."SPIDERMAN 3" Add a few films you think are BAD MOVIES. |
I much prefer movies that are so bad they are good. At this moment, I can't really come up with a title for one but you know what I mean.
As for your list, and anyone else's list. I just shrug and say, to each his own. Many of the films I love are reviled. The opposite is also true. The other thing to keep in mind is that despite their apparent suckage, the two films you list also made a boatload of money and there is nothing like making money to keep Hollywood making crappy films. |
i thought CABIN FEVER sucked. So did THE HILLS HAVE EYES 2.
|
Napolean Dynamite!!! That movie sucked soooooo bad! Throughout the movie, i sat with a scrunched face and kept going "huh"?
|
sunshine ????????????,definately sucked.
|
Worst movie I ever saw, hands down was called "The Winds of Kitty Hawk", it was about the Wright Brothers, and the entire 2.5 hour debacle consisted of script like this, (imagine a Maine drawl) "Well, Wilbur....I don't know...maybe...if we shaved a bit more off..uh...the blade...we could..uh...get another revolution per..uh..second." Seriously, after 1 hour I wanted to cut my wrists. Unfortunately, my date liked it, so we stayed.

Titanic - technically overwrought, which became more evident as it sank slowly into frigid bathos.

I can't believe no one mentioned Show Girls--a classic case of so bad its good.

Hmmm... I haven't seen that yet. Now I guess I wont bother. I find that movies with Hugh Grant in them tend to be inane. |
Windego.

The Seven Samurai
yes, really |

Spiderman 3 |
I rented Thomas and the Magic Railroad for my son this week. I like the tv series quite a bit, but I can't decide if the movie was just an ill-concieved money-grab or surrealist masterpiece.
You haven't seen real cinema until you've seen Peter Fonda lovingly caress a train with sorrowful eyes while a dancing Alec Baldwin holds his breath in the backround. |
I allow bad movies to upset me quite a bit sometimes. I should know better by now, and not expect so much.
A few films that have been so horrible as to actually make me angry: The Fountain. A film that tries too hard to be smart and ends up just being pretentious. Premonition. Another cookie-cutter plot that thinks it's more meaningful than it is. Grindhouse: Death Proof. Just plain bad. |
Star Wars: Episodes I through III.
The Matrix Reloaded The Matrix Revolutions Ocean's Twelve |
Wesley Snipes movies since the first Blade flick.
When did he start doing B movies? He sucks bad now. |
OOoh... Good one, Crompsie!
|
Yeah, he did a bunch of WAY lame "paramilitary action" flicks that totally went straight to DVD and straight to the 5-for-$5 bin at Wal-Mart.
Sucks. I liked him lots. Quote:

I hate it when they are big budget block busters that are supposed to be good and they are a waste of time. Those make me mad. Now on the other hand, I LOVE my B movies. Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness, Story of Ricky, any Godzilla, Bad Taste, Braindead, Hawk the Slayer, Howard the Duck.... I could go on for hours. If you want some good Bmovies go to www.badmovies.org and check out the ones with 4 or 5 goo splats, those are a sure fire good time:thumbsup: |
Yeah, Episode III of Starwars made me wanna cry. Darth Vader's *cough* "acting" *cough* was comparable to that of a cheap toaster.
|
Worst movie I ever saw was "Wing Commander".
I got tickets to a preview showing of this movie and some guy got up and talked before the movie. He was relaying data about what the Audience thought of the movie. The movie went through and at the end he got up, looked at us, then hung his head and left the movie theater. Apparently he hadn't seen the movie yet either and saw the disgust on our faces ;-) And for the record, I loved Transformers  |
generally, i'm with charlatan on this--if a film is bad beyond a certain limit, it becomes something Other, in a vegas kinda way.
but there are films that never reach this plateau, and which result in periods of unremitting misery. like knocked up. the worst piece of shit i have seen in recent memory. tedious stupid people i didnt care about get involved in tedious stupid situations i didnt care about, all this complete with dreadful writing that was obviously confused with funny somehow. there's another film involving two tedious middleclass boys driving around cali wine country whining about their tedious lives, taking time out from time to time to deliver idiotic speeches about the pinot noir grape. i've repressed the title, but it made me consider setting myself on fire. e.t.: a bad film about squat ugly jesus. star wars. a bad western in space. a LONG bad western in space. a series of LONG bad westerns in space. titanic the quintessential hollywood bloat-o-thon. dreadful beyond imagination. except for one moment: when the model titanic is sinking into the bathtub, it splits in half and the stern is pointing straight up, more or less. somewhere within this sequence--interminable in the way that every other sequence in this horrific thing is---an extra falls off the stern. on the way down he hits a bulkhead. it makes a cool noise. for the duration of that noise, i was interested. that was it. i think it lasted maybe a second. |

someone mentioned cabin fever and i'll agree that it's a truly terrible movie. nothing was good about it except for the enjoyment i got laughing at certain parts because my mind was so dumbfounded it couldn't react in any other way. a lot of you mention stuff like spiderman 3, titanic, and star wars. apparently, you have no idea what a truly bad movie is. a truly bad movie isn't a little boring, or over-reliant on special effects, or rife with lame acting. no, a truly bad movie has no semblance of composition and makes no sense whatsoever. a truly bad movie is utterly unwatchable save in parts.
if you can sit through a movie, it's not an utter piece of shit. there's something there that prevents it from being a complete waste |
well, c.u., if a movie is incoherent enough it can spill over into being something beyond bad and so can be great fun to watch. pretentious, badly written films with lame, one-dimensional acting and directing, stupid manipulative music, poor sound design--like star wars, titanic, and most every other hollywood major project (particularly these wretched pieces of shit they call "action films")----fail to be even that:they just sit there, tired and tiring, stupid and unaware of their own stupidity.
watching such crap is FAR more miserable an experience than watching something like--o i dont know---plan 9 from outer space (which i love)--or any of the collected works of john waters or craig baldwin or ed anger--or any hammer film for that matter (the uk horror film company, not the mc)---or wild zero (another fabulously bad film).... o yeah--i really really love napoleon dynamite. it's like "welcome to the dollhouse" for dorky boys. |

There are two things that would make this relevant, constructive and interesting and elevate it beyond "I'm going to say this movie sucks for shock value just because it was popular.
1) To list films you actually like along with the ones you hate to give some perspective. For instance, if a person only digs indie French subtitled films, then obviously they will probably hate Star Wars, or any blockbuster movie for that matter. Without perspective, "So-and-so movie sucks" is meaningless. 2)Say what you would have done to make the movie better. If your only answer would be "not make the movie in the first place", then why did you even see it? This is a problem with our society as a whole. Too many people are willing to bitch about something, just for the sake of bitching. They have no clue what would have made it better or how to fix it in the future, but complaining about it makes them feel better about themselves somehow. |

The plot is stupid, and the characters are black and white. You get a guy who kinda commits suicide blowing up like a balloon (they never really explained that one), dozens of bad one liners, all based around a stolen truck. Its a great movie, it was bad done perfect. But back to the OP, I've seen a lot of bad movies, including Highlander II in the theater on opening day, but only one reaches the horror of badness that is...... Grindhouse. Oh god, I want those hours of my life back. |

Pirates of the Caribbean. All three of those fuckers.
Rush Hour 3. I lost a little bit of respect for Jackie Chan after seeing this movie. And please don't do another Shanghai Noon/Knight. The Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise and any thing like these two. 1408. I hated the previews. My friends dragged to watched this with them. Now I hate it even more. Actually, I think the entire genre is piss. |
I like all the Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin movies.
The Nutty Professor, *edit: the original!* which is a very superior bad movie. All the Maria Montez & Jon Hall movies from the 1940's...very, very bad, but wonderful. Don't Bother To Knock...a bad movie with Marilyn Monroe...which makes it even better. There are many 1950's crime and juvenile delinquent dramas which are spectacularly bad, but I cannot name a single one right now. The Rocky Horror Picture Show...which when viewed by the light of day is just, well, inescapably bad. All the John Waters movies, but I have a particular fondness for Polyester because I saw it in the theater when I was 16...complete with Odorama! Freaks, Carnival of Souls, Night of the Living Dead....come on, don't give me that psychological rigamarole they're bad. :p What About Bob? It's really bad...but Bill Murray is so frigging adorable. rb, I didn't care much for Napoleon Dynamite (perhaps I should give it another chance) but I LOVED Welcome to the Dollhouse...I haven't thought of that one in a couple of years and I need to watch it again...thanks for reminding me. |
I have 2.
Mystery Men, the only movie I've walked out of. Spider Man 3. The only reason I didn't walk out was because I love Spider-Man so much, I kept waiting for it to be good. That, and the fact that ubertuber and I were having a better time making fun of it. |
hope floats. worst movie ever. i had to watch it cause my mother wanted to watch it. i prayed i would die.
