I'm trying to think of a movie or two where you actually cared about the characters before they had their love scene, and the movie built up to the scene and made it an important part of the plot, not just an obligatory screw on the side. I think Halle Berry's scene with Billy Bob Thornton was a good example of an important sex scene. It was not just crucial to the plot, it was raw, and engaging, and hot...

For the life of me, I don't know why I can't think of many others...

I think the one I like most was the get-together in Pump up the Volume. It shames me to say it, but the kiss scene was fairly romantic, well sorta. (There was no sex scene as such, as I recall it).

Anyways... I thought the girl was attractive. Also, I was a little younger at the time - probably helped.

I like the cheerleader scene in History of Violence. But there's a scene in a movie called The Cool Surface where Teri Hatcher says "Do anything you want to me." That scene was incredible when I was 16 or so.
