Silent Hill (the movie)
 

Ok so I know I'm behind the times here, but I just saw this movie for the first time, and I gotta say I really liked it. I expected a shitty game-to-movie transition, but that was not what it was at all. Has anyone else seen this and what do/did you think about it?

I watched the film having not seen the game (but heard of it) and I have to say that it was great.

The transitions between the dream world and the real world were great.

They're working on the follow-up I believe, and I think I'll make time to se it.

Having played all the games in the series and then watching the movie (when it first came out in theaters), I must say I was a bit disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised at many instances where the movie borrowed from the game (some scenes and much of music), but the story is a retelling of the first game's story while altering it very very much, keeping only the bare bones that have some references to the games (names, locales, monsters, some themes). I bought it on DVD and has since watched it twice more. My opinion of it changed slightly toward the positive end, but I still wouldn't consider it higher than average. Perhaps because I was a bit disappointed with the alternation of the story.

The best part of the movie was Pyramid Head, which is the best boss/nemesis in any survival horror game currently out.

I have to say I was bored senseless by this film... but maybe it's just me!

My quick thoughts: the movie was better than most video game movies, but still wasn't good. If you've played the games, particularly 1 & 3, you realize just how scary this movie SHOULD have been. This movie wasn't scary at all. Not a bad try, but wasn't anything near "good."

I agree, it wasn't scary, but I thought it was a great paranormal film.

Who else wants to mount one of those nurses?

I'd do it on a dare, if you took their scalpels away. I played a little bit of the games but the movie wasn't really scary. It was more disturbing than scary if you get my meaning, there weren't any instances when I jumped or anything unlike the games which keep up an immensely creepy atmosphere.

Film is very poor.imo
