need suggestions with monster cables

1)
Are those Monster THX Cables better or should I buy Monster Cable 1 ? Need Component Video and Optical Audio cables.

Monster THX:

Monster 1:

2) ok I just brought a Onkyo HT760 home theater @ Circuit City and the sell rep told me that I should buy their Monster Subwoofer cable because the Onkyo Subwoofer cables are crappy. Is there really a big difference with better Subwoofer cable?

3) How is the Acoustic Research speaker cable from Bestbuy compared to the Monster speaker cables from Circuit City?

Thanks

I would pass Monster right on up. Sure, they are better than "box" cables, but better can be had for about the same amount of scratch.
At the lower end price point, look into XLO cables.
www.xloelectric.com
A step higher, go for Kimber...
www.kimberkable.com
And top of the heap... Transparent... the stuff that my wet dreams are made of... www.transparentcable.com

Both Kimber and Transparent have cables ranging from $75 to $29,750 for an 8 ft. pair of Transparent Opus MM speaker cables. There is something for every price point.

Cables are the most overlooked part of a music system. A system is only as good as its weakest link. A $4000 THX Ultra2 Certified receiver will sound like a piece of shit when you run it through a pair of cheap cables.

Good quality sub cables will make a world of difference. A sub is all about acoustic energy, so the more current you can pass through a cable, the more impact you sub will have.

i have an Onkyo HT500 system i bought not too long ago. i can't tell you anything about your video/audio cables, i just bought mine at Radio Shack and they work fine.

more important than what cables you buy is your wiring. it is the speaker wiring that is lacking in Onkyo systems, not so much the cables. and the cable to my subwoofer provides plenty of power, it is mainly the small gauge of the wires to the 5 speakers that i bought different stuff for. maybe a Monster sub cable would provide more power, but he told you to buy that cause he wants to sell you more stuff, not because you NEED those cables.

thanks for your help

$75 to $29,750 is way out of my price range because I really don't want to spend more than $30 for a single cable. I sent XLO a e-mail asking for their price.

yeah I've heared that Circuit City get a lot of money for selling Monster cables. this guy really. Circuit City and RadioShack have allmost the same price on the component and optical cables but I decided circuit city because they have a $20% cash back promotion going on.

of course they work fine. they DO transfer the signal, but not like others can. sure one can get by on big mac's for your life, but the first time you have filet mignon, you'll never want to go back.

i'm guessing this system is a home theater in a box system, so i wouldn't be too worried about cables. $30 for some monster's will do ya just fine.

I have used Vampire Wire brand connects for years. There is a difference. I was fortunate to be able to buy Monsters, several other brands of connects and try them all out on a Saturday afternoon. Everyone could tell the difference when the Vampires were used.

I was a doubter that different brands would make a difference until we did this.

yeah, it's an in-a-box system (like the 760 too, i believe) so i expected the wiring to be little pieces of crap so i got some larger guage wiring, but i haven't messed with the rest... all i have hooked up to it right now anyway is a VCR and i just use that to run my cable through to the TV... when i get a DVD player i will probably invest in some nice cables (s-video...mmmmm) .... just a couple more paychecks.... :D

but honestly, when i have a REAL job i will definately buy really nice cables and everything, do it RIGHT, but for my $500 boxed system in my poor college kid apt i can live without
