Hot Fuzz
I saw Hot Fuzz last night and I really enjoyed it. It was one of those spoof movies that had a ton of material to work with, so there was hardly a scene that didn't contain a good joke. The plot itself is actually really funny and I think fans of Shaun of the Dead will find that it lives up to the hype.
If you're well versed in cheesey action movies, you'll totally love it. |
I watched it with a bunch of friends. The entire theater was roaring with laughter at every little joke and spoof. My friends loved it.
I laughed often, but now quite as hard as everyone else... I thought it was alright. But I liked Shaun of the Dead better. |
I loved it. I was laughing when half the theater didn't get some of the more subtle jokes, innuendos, etc. Had to keep reminding myself and others that the budget was higher for this than for Shaun of the Dead. I typically enjoy the lower budget quality movies a lot more because they depend less on effects and more on dialogue and acting. And I hate Timothy Dalton. But, this movie rocked.
I really hope they keep making movies. |
I can't wait to see this, I dunno why I haven't already. I liked Shaun of the Dead but I'm more into the premise for Hot Fuzz, so am really looking forward to it.

My daughter saw it and she loved it.

I have nothing but good things to say about this movie. I loved every minute of it. If you like Shaun of the Dead and/or you like bad cop movies (ESPECIALLY Point Break) you will pretty much love this movie. Go see it! Their genius is that while they spoof a movie style, they also make a damn good movie int hat style.

Just saw Hot Fuzz last night. We all laughed so hard we almost passed out. Far funnier than Shaun of the Dead, in my opinion. Not only is it a good spoof, but the plot itself very funny.
I'm becoming a devoted follower of these guys. Found this clip on You Tube. It's from Nick Frost's Danger 50,000 Volts: Zombies and features Simon Pegg. It's hilarious. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ynXBMgLEbM |
I went after work Tuesday night. I absolutely loved it! I might like it more than Shaun of the Dead, but I can't decide. It's definitely the same type of comedy even though it's a very different movie.
The only thing that was kind of depressing was that there were only like 8 other people in the theater. |
There were very few people in the theater when we went as well. But, on Spiderman 3 wknd, I kind of expected that. Plus, it seems like movies die out so quickly these days. I'm almost afraid to wait a week on any movie for fear that it'll get pulled.

just rented it. i really enjoyed this movie, especially the "over the top" ending, i'll rent it and watch it again. they've done zombies, cops/action, i wonder what genre they'll do next?

I can't wait to watch this with my buddies. I saw it alone in the theater.

Great movie; I loved the little touches that link the 2 films! :D
|
what i loved about the movie, aside from it rocking my socks off completely, was that even if you take away the spoof elements, and jokes, it works really well as a movie taking itself seriously.

- Fascist.
- Hag. great movie |
Some good lines but actually I thought it was rather weak. The plot was lame and the scene at the end with all the shooting just left me cold. It didn't have the wit or humor of to carry it. I loved Shaun of the Dead and Simon Pegg's Spaced series is one of my favorite things on TV but I was so disappointed with Hot Fuzz.
Controversial I know :) |
Guess who has been cast as the new Scotty for the revamp of Star Trek?
Yup, Simon Pegg! First a Canadian in Jimmy Doohan played the crusty Scot, and now an Englishman will do the trick (which should piss off the majority of Scots!) |
Simon Pegg can't do any wrong, he is where Will Ferrell was 5 years ago or Ben Stiller 10 years ago. Looking forward to Run Fat Boy Run later & yes highthief, excellent casting (not to mention one of the guys from Harold & Kumar will play Sulu).
