So, I heard this about Captain America ... Spoilers

Spoiler: They killed Cap in Civil War? Yes, I know he'll come back; everyone comes back, but still a significant event. Dead by a sniper's bullet. Anyone have details?

added spoiler tags. -Daval

You could use the spoiler tag, not that I think it's necessary when Marvel puts out a press release about it and the New York Daily News reports on it.

Dammit, I thought you meant about the rumored upcoming Captain America movie.

I only read about Civil War on wiki, I didn't know it's still running. But no more spoilers, please. Youse tease, youse.

Shenanigans! He will be back when the movie gets made. Anyway the Cap that was killed was probably a decoy and he is running around with the codename of Ronin.

Captain America is dead and Iron Man is a dick (you heard me, Stark...you want a piece?). That is all.

Is Ultimate Cap still running around somewhere? There's a ready-made replacement.

At least this might put to rest the "Can Captain America beat up Batman?" debate for a while.

:)

I don't know. It sounds like they might've actually killed of Steve Rogers, but the Captain America character could live on with someone else donning the costume. It doesn't seem right that they would kill off the character considering what is going on in the world right now, especially in the US.

BTW, last I heard was that David Self was still working on the screenplay for a Cap movie. I just hope when it all said and done this movie, if it actually gets made, turns out better than the Matt Salinger one from the early 90's.

Maybe Peter Parker takes over as: Captain Spider?

Lucky you I bought all 7 issues of that POS miniseries.
Anyway as far as Cap goes Joe Quesada (Marvel's Editor in Chief) has said the following in a CNN article.

Quote:

Still, one has to wonder: Is Captain America really dead? Comic book characters have routinely died, only to be resurrected when necessary to storylines.
Joe Quesada agrees -- but said times are different now.
"There was period in comics where characters would just die and then be resurrected. And the death had very little meaning and the resurrection had very little meaning," he said. "All I ask of my writers is if you're going to kill a character off, please let that death have some meaning in the overall scope of things."
This is however the guy who okayed the resurrection of Captain Mar-vell recently pretty much ruining one of the best (and longest lasting) deaths in comic books totally contridicting his above statement.
My guess is that this is just as bad as the "death" of Superman a few years back and was only done to try and grab some mainstream press which has done. Give it a few months and Captain America will be back in the land of the living.
This crap is one of the reasons I've pretty much cut out all Marvel titles from my monthly purchases.

Ultimate Captain America is in an entirely different universe!

like that matters in the comic book world!

Well... YES. Not like the Exiles would ever "accidentally" recruit ultimate Captain America, and "accidentally" leave him behind on Earth 616 (main Marvel continuity earth).

Or Ultimate Reed Richards "accidentally" focuses his teleporter from Zombie Earth to Earth 616, and Ulitmate Captain America leads a group of explorers and the teleporter/portal "Accidentally" breaks and he is left stranded.

Or a black hole
