Smokin' Aces

Sawn an advanced screening last night.

It's most excellent.

The setup (no major spoilers): Vegas performer, heavily involved with the mafia, decides to go to the FBI with what he knows about his boss. Said boss places a million-dollar bounty on said snitch. Half a dozen unrelated hitmen (and women) take the contract, each wanting the bounty for his (or her) self. Hilarity ensues.

Starts this weekend. Go see it.

It looks interesting, kinda reminds me of Cowboy Bebop for some reason. I'll most likely see it Friday, so I'll post a review then.

Now that you mention it, the posters and trailers are a bit reminiscent of the Cowboy Bebop opening.

I saw it today. Loved it. I thought the "Tremors" were hilarious, but you'll have to go watch the movie yourself to know what I mean.

What a completely horrible and contrived ending. Movies like this make me furious. If you spend more than 2 minutes asking yourself "How in the hell does THAT make any sense?" the entire movie falls apart.

This is one of those stories where the ending is created first, and then the entire plot is designed to get to that point, regardless of what logical obstructions must be destroyed in the process. Logic be damned.

The acting, however, is top-notch, and the cast is wonderfull. I actually really enjoyed the film, other than the last ten minutes, which is more than I can say about most movies nowadays.

Great action. Great, quirky characters. Stupid, unnecessary twist ending that almost ruins the film.

This movie was crap. It wasn't as bad as Alexander or Curse of the Golden Flower, but it was crap. See it knowing that the storyline will dissapoint and the action will, too. This is what happens when people think that the cast makes the movie. The cast could make the best movie ever, but the writing was absolutely stupid.

2.5/10
