Casting Call: Dragonball Z

This is pure fantasy, but I think this series would make for a great live-action film. This topic was inspired by a comment I made in the big "Rate the last movie you watched" topic...

I'm going mostly on actors that look like the charictors, and who have also been in some other martial art films. I also think it should start with the Vegeta saga, and have the backstory be done via flashbacks. Here we go...

Goku: Jackie Chan
Vegeta: Jet Li
Napa: Bill Goldberg
Master Roshi: Pat Morita
Piccolo: Wesley Snipes
Krillon: Martin Klebba
Yajarobi: Jack Black
Bulma: Katie Holmes
Yamcha: Christian Bale
Tien: Wes Studi
Chaozu: Vern Troyer
Chi Chi: Sandra Bullock
Gohan: Some random child actor

There are plenty of others, but that's all I thought of, whatcha think?

a black man playing a green alien?? :D

personally, i would HATE to see a live action DB movie because:

1) it would have 5 hours of them powering up
2) if it didn't, and they threw out their very powerful attacks anyway, i'd be thinking "man, such inaccuracy... they didn't spend 5 hours powering up! there's no way they could do that!"

Goku: Andy On
Vegeta: Billy Chow
Napa: Ken Shamrock
Master Roshi: Robin Williams, but the character will be CGI
Piccolo: Christopher Judge
Krillon: Vern Troyer
Yajarobi: Jack Black
Bulma: January Jones
Yamcha: Takeshi Kaneshiro
Tien: Ray Park
Chi Chi: Monica Lo
Trunks: Toby Hemingway
Cell: Rongguang Yu

I have to afree with you about the 5 hours powering up. I got many chuckles out of DBZ because it was a bunch of cartoon men grunting for a half an hour. :D

With all that grunting at least the script would be simple to memorize.

I've seen the live action dragonball z movie. Its really not that good. The plot was horrible, the acting was horrifying, the special effects were borderline kindergarten (even for its time), and the quality was crap. Even if it was a mid to high budget movie, which it probably wasn't, for the country it was made in (China/Thailand/Philippines/?) the entire undertaking was not worth it for anyone involved.

They play it on the AZN channel every so often, and it makes me want to poke my eyes out with q-tips.

Not much in the powering up either. No one went supersaiyan as the storyline took place sometime after meeting Master Roshi

I never even knew there was one, and as horrible as it may be, I still want to see it.

willravel, good casting as well!
