Okay....in many peoples opinion All-Star editions are usually the signs of age. Personally, I enjoy them.

So my question to you all is this.....Should this All Star season be the end? I know, more than likely it won't be, but do you think they should end the series on an All Star high note?

I'm not going to sit here and say I'm tired of it, because I will probably watch it till the day it actually does end. I even sat through the **** fest that was Amazing Race Family Edition!

Does anyone else agree that Rob and Amber have had their 15 minutes of fame (and then some), and it's time to stop seeing them? How many more million dollar prizes can we throw their way before we say enough is enough!

My wife loves this show, only started watching it in season 10. She already wants to sign up for it. The good part about this allstar thing is it will all seem new to me.. Since I dont have any idea who 1/2 the teams even are

No the All Star season certainly should not be the end! I just wish they would get a little more creative in putting their shows together, like not making the results of entire seasons dependent on whether cab drivers know where they're going. And I don't even want to see another alpha male white guy team after All Stars.

I think they were the best team to run the race yet, though they've certainly got enough of CBS's money by now, and I'd like to see all the best teams on the All Star edition. So yeah, I'm not too happy that Dave and Mary are going to be there not only because Mary is so irritating but also because they'll be taking the place of a far better team. Amazing Race All Stars without Rob and Amber would be like the Baseball Hall of Fame without Babe Ruth.

Rob and Amber were indeed the smartest team to run the race (though they didn't win). The Hippies are probably 1A in that regard.

I like the All Star format for this show, because unlike shows where people get voted out, there is no way for teams to just pick off the teams that have already won first (like Tina getting the first vote off on Survivor Allstars). Now if the show is just the same but with past teams, that could be lame. Hopefully they will make the race much more difficult for this edition.

"Producers chose [teams] partly 'in terms of where their life went' since they left the show. 'They're not necessarily the winners, but character-wise, they're all-stars in our book.'" All righty then...

And they are (along with my snide commentary):
Kevin & Drew (they could be amusing)
Oswald & Danny (my impression is they lucked their way through their whole season, but at least they could also be amusing)
John Vito & Jill (I can't see any redeeming value of this team, the only reason they got on the race in the first place is because of 9/11, no idea why they're back.)
Uchenna & Joyce ([spoiler only if you don't know what happened in season 7] Spoiler: the ONLY WINNING TEAM to return, they deserve it, especially for beating R&A)
David & Mary (not happy to see them, they're irritating as hell and they suck at the race)
Charla & Mirna (see above)
Rob & Amber (it wouldn't be All-Stars without them)
Teri & Ian (no clue why they're here, I guess they were one of the better, um, old couples? hope to hear Ian telling Teri to "hump it" some more.)
Eric & Danielle (interesting half and half of two past teams, but who is Danielle again?)
Joe & Bill (the one annoying team I'm glad to see again, because at least they were competitors)
Dustin & Kandace (they were definitely the most surprisingly good team ever to run the race)

i thought the first episode was pretty "meh". I was hoping for more twists or harder challenges for the All Stars. I love the show, but this seems like more of teh same so far

me too...they are my 2 favorites to watch. They play the game well, plus it doesn't hurt that that are hot (Amber and the Miss USA's that is...Rob looks like a goof)

Woot! Rob & Amber first place again. Kevin and Drew deserved to be gone. What a dick Drew was I didnt see the season they were on originally so I have no idea what they were like then but geez.

Otherwise was a decent episode, with all the wrong turns at the end it was really a big question mark as to who would win. With all of the talk of 40km/hr in the moon valley I was expecting to see a penalty for someone speeding or something like that.

Yeah, Rob and Amber run a good race, but like others have mentioned, I'm done seeing them. They even have another reality show that is just them. Rob wants to be a professional poker player, what a tool.

I hate most of the teams, but I love the season because the irritating teams are so obviously inferior. Often it seems really random who wins and loses, but this time there's a clear divide in teams' ability. Rob and Amber and the gay guys are cleaning up.

Kevin and Drew were the team that changed the most, and obviously not for the better. In season one, they were funny guys and actual competitors. Now not only were they not funny, they seemed to actually dislike each other and just about everything else and were in nothing resembling good shape to run the race. I actually find Joe and Bill much less annoying this time around, probably just because there are so many teams way beyond them.

Once again, David and Mary can't seem to figure out that this is indeed a race and people are going to pass you, in addition to Mary's constant wailing, making them one of the most irritating teams around for two seasons straight. Also again I have to ask WTF is with Mirna and Schmirna adopting fake Spanish accents when, if I'm not mistaken, they don't actually speak a word of Spanish other than "rapido" and "por favor". "Please sir what you want from me you take my money i no eat tomorrow!" Such drama queens.

Great episode. Yeah Dave and Mary are pretty lost without a clueless Cho brothers team to keep them in the race. I think this is one of the best seasons yet for the competition. There's no bunching, so the teams that actually do well throughout the leg finish at the top while the teams that make mistakes finish at the back. Usually everybody gets bunched at the roadblock or something and the entire results are based on who can make it from there to the pit stop fastest. Now sure I suppose it might get boring if Rob and Amber finish first every time, but so far, I think they deserve it as they run a nearly perfect race.

No comments on the last episode? I was really dissapointed in the elimination of Rob & Amber. They just had a really off day and nothing seemed to go right. I was really, really hoping they could somehow leapfrog Charla and Mirna, I really can't stand those two.

i love how charla (or mirna? the tall one...) is constantly crossing herself and thanking jesus but then she's swearing at people and acting like and idiot. i have a real problem believing she's an attorney too.

well with R&A gone, I'm cheering for the Beauty Queens. I just generally really like the teams that get along, don't bicker, and seem like they are constantly enjoying themselves.

I must say this was on of the best episodes in a while for entertainment purposes. Wow, I can't even imagine how frustrating it must have been for those people stuck in the airport. I think I read somewhere that there is over a 17 hour difference between first and last place. That means that several of the teams went out on the next leg before the stragglers made it back in!

They must have a huge bunching point later on, I can't see them allowing such a huge lead to continue.

Imagine if they hadnt stopped the boat sailing, it would have been a 24 hour lead.

That "we can't sail due to weather" seemed like a completely made up, producer intervention to keep charla and mirna from being like 48 hours ahead of everyone. They even seemed to admit it with the single cloud in the sky shot.

That did seem like BS. It would have been better if they would have simply said that the 1st boat wouldn't leave until the morning.

It was a scary episode. I actually found myself rooting for Myrna and Shmyrna. Usually, I find them obnoxious.

Danny and Oswald stopping for fruit? What was up with that? They're hilarious. I like them a lot.

Each episode, I find the selective editing to create more suspense, more and more annoying. They make it seem as though teams are on top of each other when they might in reality be 30min+ apart.

Was it just me or was this one of the dumbest non-elimination legs they've had? Especially with the other teams having left BEFORE the last two teams even checked in? Good luck making up that half an hour penalty with no flights and four teams all neck and neck. Actually I was glad to see Guido go (I still wish that it was Charla and Mirna, please for the love of god they have to go next), it's just that there was zero excitement.
I just wonder what they are going to do to even up all the teams since Dustin and Kandace got totally screwed by the intersection and don't deserve to be like 5 hours behind.

I didn't like either episode.

Both episodes took place almost entirely at night. I like to see the country that they're in. We couldn't see much with both episodes at night.

Airports are BORING. Both episodes were dominated by travel scenes.

The Guidos had no chance to catch up. I'm not sorry to see them go, but if they weren't going to give them a chance, why not eliminate them earlier?

I'm not so sure about following up a quick bit about Auschwitz with a sausage eating challenge.

I did like the bits with Charla (the sausage challenge and the multiple face plants). She just keeps going no matter the obstacle.

I also like the arguments between Eric and Danielle. Why the heck wouldn't he give her $2 for a cup of coffee? Is it worth arguing about?

I thought the intersection + fast forward was a stupid move. It seemed counter productive by the producers. In the previous episodes, it appeared as though they were trying to get the teams to lower that 15+ hour gap, but here, they throw in a fast forward when they know the trailing teams would be at least 4 hours behind due to the charter bus schedule. And besides, having 2 teams do the fast forward, but being cheap and giving the first place prize to only one team? Is that not idiotic?

Just when you think its the final 3, a non-elimination leg. I have to admit that I absolutely hated Charla and Mirna in the beginning/middle of the race, but now I find myself rooting (secretly) for them.

Danny & Oswald have come on strong in the later legs, proving its better to get lucky late than early.

I want the blondes to fall off a cliff, and have them pull Eric & Danielle over with them. Eric is such an ass. And I just plain hate the blondes, they can't read a freakin map to save their lives, yet they are still in the race, it boggles the mind.

Side note: Yields. Whats up with the complete and total LOATHING of a team that uses a yield? If I were on this show, I would not hesitate a second at making the decision to yield a team, wether I think I needed to do it or not. It is simply one more "reward" for being in the lead/ahead of other teams. Its a RACE, people, why wouldn't the leaders attempt to slow down the followers with a million dollars on the line? Duh... BTW, who long is the yield? It certianly doesn't seem to be longer than 10-15 minutes.

I was a bit ambivalent about the blondes until last night, and my feelings didn't change just because of the yield. (I just don't think they were smart in using it, especially since it turned out to be a non-elimination round.) What irked me was the comment about making a "beauty queen sandwich" of Mirna and Sharla. Their constant references -at least one per show- about being beauty queens finally got to me.

I don't recall the other contestants constantly referring to their jobs, careers or personal attributes.

But the host of the show definitely shows his preference for them.

Man, no love for the blondies. I personally have no problem with them. They seem like they are enjoying themselves, and they aren't at each other's throats every 5 minutes. They don't seem to be rude to the locals, and they don't seem to be obsessed with bitching about the other players. And at least they aren't uber hypocritical like little miss "we don't play dirty" Mirna. Also I think that their "beauty queen sandwich" statement was very mild compared to the constant vitriol spewed about them by the other contestants.

I totally agree with you on this. It's a part of the race and a team that was worried about being eliminated used it to give themselves more of a lead. Duh.

well I've been spoiled by wikipedia so it doesn't much matter who I want or don't want to win, but I'm convinced Mirna is one of the most evil manipulative people ever to run the race. It's so fitting that she's a lawyer, she obviously found her true calling in life. That EW article was right on target about the Poland episode. I can't decide if this is a great or an awful season; I guess that puts it somewhere in the middle.

I don't have a problem with yielding. It's humorous to see the characters get upset about it, as though it is a dirty move. It's part of the game. Danny & Oswald DID yield Eric & Danielle. The blondes paid them to do it, but they made the decision. It would be interesting if Mirna and Schmirna found out that Danny & Oswald would have yielded them if the blondes paid for it.

I haven't liked this season very much. Two things that I noticed about this season:

1) The fast forwards are SO easy. Riding in a car while it flips over? Counting stairs? What happened to eating a bunch of awful food or shaving your head?

2) There isn't enough interaction between teams at the roadblocks and detours. Teams are spread out too far across the legs. During roadblocks in past seasons, and earlier this season, you would have multiple teams completing the tasks at the same time. It's more interesting that way. The same goes for detours.

Every show needs a villain. If everyone was happy go lucky and great buds it would be a boring hour.

I really hope the beauty queens win, they are by far my favourite team of this season and last. They have fun, they get along (for the most part as per the previews) and they are hot. What more could a man ask for?

I totally agree (see post #30). I honestly don't think that Charla would be anywhere near as bad if she wasn't with Mirna. Although she may not be the brightest peg on the lite-brite, she has boatloads of drive and determination. They should have teamed Charla up with the one-legged chick, who had the asshole boyfriend from a few seasons ago.

That gives me an idea for a whole new season. Either random pairings of past contestants, or pairings specifically designed for conflict. For example Jonathan teamed with the pro wrestler chick.

Location: Everywhere and Nowhere	i love how charla (or mirna? the tall one...) is constantly crossing herself and thanking jesus but then she's swearing at people and acting like and idiot. i have a real problem believing she's an attorney too. well with R&A gone, I'm cheering for the Beauty Queens. I just generally really like the teams that get along, don't bicker, and seem like they are constantly enjoying themselves.

Daval Junkie Location: The True North Strong and Free!	I must say this was on of the best episodes in a while for entertainment purposes. Wow, I can't even imagine how frustrating it must have been for those people stuck in the airport. I think I read somewhere that there is over a 17 hour difference between first and last place. That means that several of the teams went out on the next leg before the stragglers made it back in! They must have a huge bunching point later on, I can't see them allowing such a huge lead to continue. Especially with the other teams having left BEFORE the last two teams even checked in? Good luck making up that half an hour penalty with no flights and four teams all neck and neck. Actually I was glad to see Guido go (I still wish that it was Charla and Mirna, please for the love of god they have to go next), it's just that there was zero excitement. sapiens Junkie Location: Some place windy	I didn't like either episode. Both episodes took place almost entirely at night. I like to see the country that they're in. We couldn't see much with both episodes at night. Airports are BORING. Both episodes were dominated by travel scenes. The Guidos had no chance to catch up. I'm not sorry to see them go, but if they weren't going to give them a chance, why not eliminate them earlier? I'm not so sure about following up a quick bit about Auschwitz with a sausage eating challenge. I did like the bits with Charla (the sausage challenge and the multiple face plants). She just keeps going no matter the obstacle. I also like the arguments between Eric and Danielle. Why the heck wouldn't he give her $2 for a cup of coffee? Is it worth arguing about? For 35 years, the very idea of the manic Lewis pratfalling his way through a concentration camp has remained the gold standard for showbiz exploitation of the Holocaust, keeping its title even over the strong challenger Life Is Beautiful. Last night on The Amazing Race, though, in the space of one hour, we were taken from a solemn pilgrimage to Auschwitz to a vomiting little person doing face plants in a suit of armor. I'm sorry, Mr. Lewis: Your long reign is over. But no, let's not climax too soon by getting into that. (Sorry, I've still got sausage double entendres running through my head, but more on that later, too.) Let's begin at the beginning. With the Guidos starting out 15 hours behind the first-place team, I had déjà vu from their season 1 finale, when they found themselves 24 hours behind the two other teams. But last night it was announced that the show's producers had reserved seats for all teams on one flight from Zanzibar to Warsaw, and it was the next morning. At first this seemed like a transparent manipulation to allow everyone to catch up, but considering how much trouble they all had trying to find an alternative flight, I had to admit it made sense. Seven hours at a travel agent? What the hell was going on over there? The travel-agency industry has been devastated by Orbitz and Priceline and the like, and this was exactly the kind of publicity that won't help their attempts to rebound one bit. But then again, if you were a Zanzibari ticket agent and a loud, pushy American like Mirna came in and started barking orders at you in an oddly Kazakhstani accent and calling you ''my sister,'' maybe infuriating her by dragging her request out for seven hours would be a fine and rewarding way to spend the day. Eric and Danielle quickly gave up and took the default flight, which they ended up on with Team Guido. I was awestruck by one of Danielle's remarks upon hearing they were headed to Poland: Gesturing to her blond hair, she said, ''I look like a little Polish girl.'' What a meta moment: She thought all Polish people were blond (which they're not, really) because she'd heard so many Polish jokes, but confused them with ''blondes are dumb'' jokes. This after already proving how dumb she is by wondering if Warsaw was in Zanzibar. That was moronic on so many levels that I think it might actually be smart. I tried to sketch out the concentric circles of idiocy involved in her statement, but my pencil burst into tears. Her partnership with Eric is yet another Amazing Race bit in which you don't know who to root for. Ninety-three percent of what comes out of her mouth is imbecile, but Eric is such a jerk to her that you end up pitying her. Is he angry that by being the dumb one, she is stealing his act? How dare she force him into the role of the ''smart partner''? That's like Tubbs making Crockett be the black cop. It was shortly after this point in the show when my DVR went on the fritz, randomly snipping out around 30 minutes just as the Guidos and Eric and Danielle were arguing to get on their departing plane in Kilimanjaro. My video suddenly jumped from them running onto the tarmac to them riding in cabs in Warsaw. (Hey, Time Warner Cable: High prices and crappy service? Throw in the occasional punch in the face and I'll marry you!) My editor relayed what I missed, and from what I understand, there were two salient points: 1. Dustin's beauty-pageant talent — playing the piano — came in handy when she and Kandice ran away with the piano-tuning challenge. To think that I always found the talent portions of pageants insipid; turns out they have real-life relevance, at least in game shows. Perhaps next season on Survivor, we'll see Miss North Dakota demonstrate how to light a fire by Irish step dancing. 2. Apparently everyone in Poland hated Charla and Mirna. Each cab driver glared at them, and nobody in the street wanted to help them. I am part Polish, but I never really felt connected to that ancestry. Until now. How glad was I that my DVR malfunctioned in the first hour and not the second? That was when the craziness really happened. Let's begin with the field trip to Auschwitz. The show has scheduled serious, heartbreaking stops before, like at Nelson Mandela's old cell, or at an infamous slave-ship port. I never like them; the producers bend over backwards to slow down the action and make sure to show everyone upset, shaken, and moved. But eventually that soul-searching has to end, and they all go back to running around the world for a million dollars, which is kind of like putting a human skull in one of the Deal or No Deal briefcases so when it opens, Howie can lead everyone in a moment of silence over the evils of Pol Pot...and then get back to that dastardly banker! The switch to the Auschwitz scene was jarring; one minute everyone was joking around, getting on the charter bus, and then suddenly, a sad violin started playing and everyone got introspective. They arrived at the camp and lit candles and reflected, and then the producers did their best to try to wean the audience back into the game, an impossible feat. I'm not saying that the contestants weren't suitably moved...well, except for Eric, who said the experience put his and Danielle's bickering in perspective. That goofball shouldn't flatter himself: An episode of Hannah Montana could put their bickering in perspective; Auschwitz should knock him out for a month. If you've ever been to a Holocaust museum — and that's just a museum, not even an actual concentration camp — you know that it's such a wrenching experience that you can barely drive home afterward, let alone go treasure hunting for clues. But treasure-hunt they did. Uchenna, Joyce, Danny, and Oswald teamed up for the simple stair-counting fast forward, forcing the beauty queens to wait hours for the trailing second charter bus and pair up with Charla and Mirna. Then off they dashed to the sausage challenge — because what better way to follow up a trip to Auschwitz then with a pork-gorging competition, right? And on the night before Passover, no less. What, no Mel Gibson cameo? The teams first had to make their own sausage, which I think was Bertram van Munster's way of celebrating being out of the family hour of 8 to 9. If you closed your eyes, you would have thought you were watching butcher-shop porn. ''I say eat the kielbasa!'' crowed Bill. ''That's so much bigger than I ever thought,'' oohed Mirna. ''Just make it really long, like he did,'' said Joe. There wasn't a line in this whole section that wouldn't have led perfectly into the phrase, ''That's what she said!'' And then came the eating: two feet of sausage per person. Dustin finished first and celebrated by throwing it all up. (''Ladies and gentlemen, Miss California!'' said Eric, taking a rare break from not being funny.) And then came Charla. Keep in mind she was being asked to eat more than half her height in sausage, so it's no wonder it backed up on her. And then — with an oddly unfazed expression — she took a knife handle, stuck it down her throat, and made herself vomit to make room to finish. I gotta say, I was impressed. Disgusted, but impressed. When she did it, her whole rear section convulsed like a donkey kicking. The nauseated expressions on everyone else's faces were priceless. When she was taking her last bite, Charla said, ''Please, God, take it down.'' (That's what she sa...hey, wait a minute, that's blasphemy!) I know I've complained before about people who pray to win the race, but this was one place where I approved. I too found myself asking God to ''please drop everything for a minute and help Charla fit one more bite, because I don't want to see what she'll do with a soup ladle to get the job done.'' At this point, with the last four teams running largely neck and neck, there was no real suspense as to who would lose, since the Guidos had a 30-minute penalty coming. But after all the chaos and upchucking, seeing who won was beside the point. ''How can they top this?'' I thought to myself — and then Mirna went crazy on some cab drivers. ''You think I'm made of money, I'm a young girl, I don't have hundred dollars!'' she screamed at the cabbies she wanted to lead her. Mirna needs to realize that it's pretty hard to come off as needy, helpless, and frail when you're being trailed by a camera crew. And then the big finish: the suit-of-armor roadblock. I'll say this with no sarcasm whatsoever: Charla may be only slightly less nuts than her cousin, but she is a damn good sport. You just know that when the producers laid out a suit of armor for her, they were praying, ''Oh, please let Charla take this roadblock,'' because they knew it would look silly. And she knew it would look silly. (''She looks like a dressed-up rat,'' said Bill, in a comment I'll bet he now wishes he had saved for a moment when he wasn't miked.) But she did it. She was visibly ill, and she'd just endured her wack-job cousin screaming at her and blaming her for everything on the whole car trip, but she still put on the metal suit. Even with two magnificent face-plants (if they're not on YouTube by this afternoon, I'll be very disappointed with today's teens), she still ended up in fourth place, and she never once looked embarrassed, just determined. And the Guidos, who finished right before Eric and Danielle, were eliminated because of their penalty. Tonight, when I finally go to sleep, I will be thinking about Charla dropping like a bag of rocks in that armor, or filling a bucket with prechewed sausage. And I won't be thinking about the Holocaust. The fact that Auschwitz could be bumped as a take-home visual by Charla's escapades is all the more reason to leave the world's tragedies out of The Amazing Race. What do you think? Should the show stop sending contestants to tragic sites? Were you sad to see the Guidos go? And what eye-popping scenario would you like to see Charla in next? kofspades Crazy	I thought the intersection + fast forward was a stupid move. It seemed counter productive by the producers. In the previous episodes, it appeared as though they were trying to get the teams to lower that 15+ hour gap, but here, they throw in a fast forward when they know the trailing teams would be at least 4 hours behind due to the charter bus schedule. And besides, having 2 teams do the fast forward, but being cheap and giving the first place prize to only one team? Is that not idiotic? __________________ Even if you stop the clock, it gives the right time twice a day. Once we get out of the eighties, the nineties are going to make the sixties look like the fifties.

Mister Coaster Big & Brassy Location: The "Canyon"	Just when you think its the final 3, a non-elimination leg. I have to admit that I absolutely hated Charla and Mirna in the beginning/middle of the race, but now I find myself rooting (secretly) for them. Danny & Oswald have come on strong in the later legs, proving its better to get lucky late than early. I want the blondes to fall off a cliff, and have them pull Eric & Danielle over with them. Eric is such an ass. And I just plain hate the blondes, they can't read a freakin map to save their lives, yet they are still in the race, it boggles the mind. Side note: Yields. Whats up with the complete and total LOATHING of a team that uses a yield? If I were on this show, I would not hesitate a second at making the decision to yield a team, wether I think I needed to do it or not. It is simply one more "reward" for being in the lead/ahead of other teams. Its a RACE, people, why wouldn't the leaders attempt to slow down the followers with a million dollars on the line? Duh... Ananas Still Crazy Location: In my own time	I was a bit ambivalent about the blondes until last night, and my feelings didn't change just because of the yield. (I just don't think they were smart in using it, especially since it turned out to be a non-elimination round.) What irked me was the comment about making a "beauty queen sandwich" of Mirna and Sharla. Their constant references -at least one per show- about being beauty queens finally got to me. I don't recall the other contestants constantly referring to their jobs, careers or personal attributes. But the host of the show definitely shows his preference for them. __________________ it's gritty

They seem like they are enjoying themselves, and they aren't at each other's throats every 5 minutes. They don't seem to be rude to the locals, and they don't seem to be obsessed with bitching about the other players. And at least they aren't uber hypocritical like little miss "we don't play dirty" Mirna. Also I think that their "beauty queen sandwich" statement was very mild compared to the constant vitriol spewed about them by the other contestants. __________________ This post is content. n0nsensical Junkie Location: San Francisco	well I've been spoiled by wikipedia so it doesn't much matter who I want or don't want to win, but I'm convinced Mirna is one of the most evil manipulative people ever to run the race. It's so fitting that she's a lawyer, she obviously found her true calling in life. That EW article was right on target about the Poland episode. I can't decide if this is a great or an awful season; I guess that puts it somewhere in the middle.

I really hope the beauty queens win, they are by far my favourite team of this season and last. They have fun, they get along (for the most part as per the previews) and they are hot.
