Bridge to Terabithia... The MOVIE!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0398808/
I first read this book in 5th Grade (I think it was 5th grade anyways...) and it made me cry. right there in class. people laughed, whatever, I have never been moved by a book like that before, and never since. I put it down, telling myself that I would never read it again. About 6 months ago, I picked it up at a book store, having forgotten what I had told myself so long ago. I read it again... I am now a few days away from being 26, I cried again. Now its going to be a movie! I will watch it. Anyone else felt the same way after reading the book? Anyone actually read the book at all? |
I miss that book a lot. It was sweet, and back in 5th grade that girly was hot on the cover.
Boy not as much. BUt girl...win! |
As the Living Legends said that book is Classic.

I took my three kids to see this movie.. OMG we sat on the front row watching and it came to that part. Im 34 and i cried. It was so sudden and unexpected for me. I'm gonna go pick up the book this week. Acting cannont express the hurt and loss in a movie like a book can.
The only other book that moved me to tears was a Dragonlance novel where Sturm Brightblade died defending the keep from Kititara an evil dragon rider. He wasnt even a knight in the eyes of his fellow knights but upheld the code given down by generations. My daughter turned to me and hugged my arm saying its ok, she isnt gone she still is there in that fairy land. |
My girlfriend read the book a very long time ago and loved it. When the previews and trailers were on TV, they never even hinted at what the ending was. Yes, I understand that if they did that, it would ruin the whole movie. My girlfriend's concern was that parents would take their children to this movie thinking it was a movie for kids that showed the power of imagination and dreaming to kids, only to have the ending be a shock to the kids. She swore she wouldn't see it simply because they either: 1. changed the ending completely, not staying true to the book, or 2. were not forthcoming with the true message of the movie in the previews and trailers. I guess she felt they were selling the movie on the CGI and not the true message of the film.
