wow. this episode has been fucking awesome! so much happening. it wasn't really about Oscar. I loved the way they made Dwight look for a job.
Jim " I miss Dwight. there ya go universe! you win" |
Mexican Lemonade
|
hello?!?!?!?
Even bigger than Mexican lemonade, or Oscar's return, or Andy's mental breakdown.... Karen: Do you still have feelings for her? Jim: (nods head)....yeah..... HOLY SWEET MERCIFUL CRAP!!! The wheels are in motion, folks!!!! Jim and Pam were so awesome together in this episode. So wonderful. |
"Where's my phone????"
"Maybe it's in the ceiling." "Maybe YOU'RE in the ceiling!!" Fucking hilarious. |
Another great episode. I was a bit surprised at how quickly they brought Dwight back. I was also surprised at how the wheels have seemingly been set in motion for the end of both Karen and Andy in the same episode.
"I don't want somebody sucking up to me because they think I am going to help their career, I want them sucking up to me because they genuinely love me." |
why am i seeing a re-run right now?
|
same here. it sucks! maybe they're playing it on a different channel? but i know the superbowl might have an effect on reruns? acording to wikipedia , it's comming back feb 1st. oh well. i can wait a week.
|
well mex_bike, they can suck my ass. i made it home all special just to see that shit. you bastards!!!
/i mean, not you personally. you...you're great. |
Friends, you need to do your homework.
The Office or OfficeTally will not only tell you if the episode coming up is a new one, it'll tell you all about the ep. It may even give spoilers. I personally don't like to read the spoilers because I've found that it ruins the episode for me. I like to be surprised. On the bright side, Grief Counselling was hilarious. "I feel like somebody kicked my soul in the crotch, and at the same time someone is hitting me in the grief bone with a frozen sledge hammer..." brilliant. |
My favourite part is when dwight is trying to get the bird in the mountain dew can, i knew it was coming, i've seen it before, yet I still almost spit tea through my nose watching it.
|
"I have the strength of a grown man and a little baby."
My wife DID spit out her drink. |
Do you think Andy is going to leave the show? I think he goes out big... soon.
|
Unfortunately I think he is on his way out. I do hope they keep Karen around though, I really like her. Andy I could take or leave.
|
After Andy's tantrum, and how sick of him Michael is getting, he's definitely gone soon. Next episode or the one after, I'd bet.
I predict that Karen will stick around until Jim and Pam finally hook up, at which point she'll quit and move to her Mother's basement in Poughkeepsie. |
i read on an OFFICE site that there was an extended edition in the US somewhere and it was much longer. read here on tv.com
check out post #75 for the answers. it's a spoiler so maybe don't read it if you dont want to spoil tonight! |
Great episode tonight. Especially liked the verbal battle between Dwight and Ben Franklin.
|
Again it was another great episode of the Office. I think I might have to buy this on DVD, I've never done that with a show before, but I think this one might be worth it.
|
I didn't really dig this episode as much, but I think that the past 4 or 5 have been so good that its tough to follow up with direct content. This episode was more about setting the Jim/Pam/Karen triangle into action. I've never seen Pam so discombobulated; frankly, I didn't really like it. The rest of the episode was just fluff...I didn't care for Dwight's role tonight - thought he was almost pure caricature.
|
I agree with you pigglet. I didn't like this ep very much either. I felt that Pam was waaaaaaaaay out of character. It just didn't seem like her. Someone on another forum noted that Jim and Pam were such expert flirters when it didn't matter, but when it did, when Pam wanted to flirt for real, she falls apart and turns into a 12 year old girl. What is up with that?
On the other hand, I thought Steve Carrell had a brilliant episode. He had so many great lines. He was hilarious. So here's a question, to spark some further discussion than just episode recaps here... I am interested in your earlybird predictions for S3 season finale. I know, I know, it's not even February sweeps, and I'm talking finale... Everyone is waiting for the JAM get together. It's going to happen eventually. But is it going to happen this season? Is it too predictable to have it all happen on the finale? Is it possible that Jim and Pam don't hook up this season? If you don't think that the Jim and Pam hookup will be the season finale, what DO you think it will be? |
Yeah last night's episode wasn't as funny/good as the previous 3. Pam's character was really odd...she seems out of character, like something might be going on with her actual actress IRL.
|
I wasn't a big fan of last night's episode for many reasons, but mainly because they didn't explain what happened to Andy... he just wasn't there. (I know they explained it in the extended version, but you'd think they could devote a sentence or two of dialogue in the primetime version to explain his absence.)
I did laugh at the homosexual references that Michael made which created some classic awkward moments... "Who wants some man meat?" and "We're having a guy shower." and "It's an hour-long shower with guys." haha My favorite part was at the very end when Dwight was still trying to trip up "Ben Franklin" and Dwight screams out in frustration. That was hilarious. |
I have to agree last night wasn't as good. Pam did seem out of sorts. That whole talk about sleep was really weird. It had been awhile since we had seen Roy, I wonder if we will be seeing him more as he tries to win back Pam. I did like Dwight's reply to Michael. "I want some man meat!" Hilarious.
|
I quite enjoyed this episode. The shot of Michael and Ryan at the Sex shop, surrounded by pixelated packages was a stroke of cinematic genius. What a great way to play with censorship.
As for Pam's lack of confidence, I like the symmetry that she has now traded places with Jim from the first season. Now she is the impotent flirter on the sidelines yet completely out of her depth. A small gag that made me laugh out loud was when Stanley tried to cut into his stake with the flimsy plastic cutlery. His "Of course..." made me howl. It's far too early to predict the season finale and how the Jim, Karen and Pam triangle will be resolved, but I'm hoping for a drunken threesome in the copy room. |
I'm excited to see whats going to happen when Andy comes back from Anger management.
|
I doubt that will happen in the broadcast version of the show. Things that don't make air aren't cannon.
|
In case there are some of you who don't read the 3 or 4 office related websites out there, it has been verified that Ed Helms, who plays Andy will be on for the rest of this season. Rashida Jones, who plays Karen, has not been signed on for the remainder of the season, as of yet.
This Thursday's episode is called Phyllis' Wedding. I wonder what it will be about... Office bloggers and forum chatters are anxious for the next big Jim and Pam moment, and are hoping something substantial happens between them in this episode. In my last post I mentioned I was looking for your thoughts on the JAM get together time line. Feel free to comment on that as well if you feel so inclined. |
well seeing as jim is still with karren, they need to have a break up episode and then an alone episode and then a flirting episode and finally, a jim and pam together episode. so if jim is still with karren 4episode from the end, don't expect the JAM till season 4 or 5.
in phylis' wedding, i hope we get some better stuff from pam and roy maybe they'll think about how their's would have been? |

altoid? michael was fucking painful in this episode...the show is great at uncomfortable situations, but i was writhing around, pulling my sleeves down over my arms, trying to hide in the couch. ouch!!!
|
Most episodes, I like that Michael is so over-the-top and a complete attention whore... but episodes like tonight, I have to say that I feel almost embarassed watching him.
|
agreed! he went completely out of the way. the roy pam story went pretty well tonight! and phylis is fucking insane!! she stole pam's wedding!!!
i love the way they brought back some jim-dwight pranks. although i feel the documentary style of the show is going a bit out the way - i mean the old guy almost got run over by a car and the film crew didn't help him back? it seemed weird. who thinks pam-roy are gonna get back together?!? |
Micheal was painful to watch this episode. Jim's prank went a little too far with the old man. And yep, I definitely think Roy and Pam - RAM?, will be back together for a while more. Fun stuff ahead.
|
Most of the Office dedicated forums that I frequent were very harsh critics of this episode. It's nice to see some pretty favourable reports from my Office loving TFP cronies. I think this episode was pretty good. Most of the comments here have centred on Michaels over-the-top awkwardness. I think it was great. That is what Michael is supposed to be. Awkward. He's supposed to make us want to just crawl in a hole and hide from him. He's brilliant.
I think most of us regular viewers could see a Roy Pam (hereafter known as RAM) reunion coming this season. Part of me is angry that this had to happen, because it's an obvious plot obstacle getting in the way of the JAM union. But part of me wants the Jim Pam drama to continue the way it's been going; with the two of them so obviously in love with each other but not together yet. Some people are frustrated with the writers and are saying "ENOUGH ALREADY! Get them together!" Not me. I say draw it out. Just as long as there's some boinkenberry JAM by the end of S3. lol |
I wasn't a big fan of this episode. The last two have sort of left me cold.
I know Michael has been a caricature, he has been since s01e01, but the last couple episodes, he's been a caricature of a caricature. The last line he said that I BELIEVED was "I want them to kiss my ass because they genuinely love me." |
The last episode was probably my least favorite of this season, but it still had me laughing a lot. I think the show is so good that even the worst episodes are funnier than most of the other comedies on tv now.
|
I didn't like Michael in this one either. There is a fine line between a guy who isn't self aware and a guy who is going out of his way to ruin a wedding. Regardless of what the TV reviewers and Golden Globe voters think, this show DOES NOT star Steve Carrell. It's an ensemble comedy, and whenever it centers too much on Carrell, it's a detriment to the series
|
I agree with you, Derwood, in the sense that it IS an ensemble comedy and as such it should not overly focus on any one character. But I think that goes for all of the cast, not just Steve Carrell. I wouldn't want the show to centre too much on Michael Scott, but I'd also not want too much focus on Dwight, or Dwight and Angela, or even Jim and Pam. I like it when characters like Creed or Merideth get a little extra screen time. I like those characters, and it's nice when the writers spread the laughs around.
So here's a question. (We'll try another question, since my first one on the season finale didn't pan out...) Who is your favourite Office character, and why? I think mine is Jim. I love his facial expressions. He does get the lions share of good lines, and he delivers them amazingly well... He is a good actor. I think Steve Carrell is the best actor, but John Kras is an easy second. |

although they're all pretty good. |
Jim. He has the most "real" stuff going on, and seems like the lone sane person in an office full of nutjobs
|
For sheer insanity per screen-second, Kelly wins hands down.
